“Most people go through their whole lives, without ever really feeling that close with anyone.

It didn’t actually take me 3 years to finish this book. I just forgot to say that I finished it and then I decided to reread it.

In hindsight it probably was stupid to reread it now when things ended with a guy whose favourite author is Sally Rooney but you live and you learn.

Recently, I’ve been seeing so many TikToks and such about how if someone is supposed to be in your life, you will see them again and if they’re not, you’ll never see them again even if you live five minutes from each other. I think that’s exactly what Normal People is, Marianne and Connell may not be meant for each other per se but they are definitely meant to be in each other’s lives. When you really look at it, people will say it’s right person, wrong time but then it gets to a point where it’s always the wrong time so it can no longer be the right person. Sure we can imagine they end up together in 5 years or 10 but it’s fine if they don’t because it was much more than them loving each other and wanting a relationship. It was a deep bond or connection that just pulls them together.

Okay maybe I’m gonna get a little too deep so I’ll just stop before it gets to be too much. Was this book my favourite of Sally Rooney’s? No but it’s a painstakingly beautiful book and maybe if I was in a better headspace, and not really feeling so down in the dumps at the time then maybe I would’ve felt more than sadness but beggars can’t be choosers.

“Carpe Diem, Keating whispered loudly. “Seize the day. Make your lives extraordinary

I love the movie, it’s one of my favourites so of course I’m going to love the book that was based on the movie. Such a heartbreaking yet beautiful story. ]]>
