This is an amazing resource, both for the historian and the gardener! Ancient advice is freely dispensed, along with more modern interpretations for your own garden today. I love the quaint quotes, complete with original spelling, grammar, and punctuation; and I have learned some truly useful things for my gardening endeavors as well as for my stories! As an author of historical fiction, you get a real peek into the vegetables of the past, and the methods used to grow them, which is so indispensable! As a gardener, you find that people had the same concerns, needs, and tastes that we do now, and were remarkably successful at using just what they had at hand. You couldn't just go order 100 plant stakes from Amazon, but even today I think we could use to look over our own properties and realize that branches trimmed from trees and shrubs would work just as well for less!

The writing is straightforward, but entertaining.
