Is it me? Am I the problem? Was I in a slump before? Or did I finally learn to appreciate sugar sweet romance? Maybe I read a different book? Did Bastone just magically get 10x better at writing? Or is it as simple as this concept and these characters really worked for me? Who’s to say !! But I loved this.

Chuckling on one page and waterworks on the next. This book is one part romcom and one part incredibly sage journey through grief. Executed beautifully! So funny! So sweet! So heartbreaking! So hopeful!

Miles is the love interest here and while in no way would a man like this ever exist, it’s fine, because for this kind of story he’s exactly the character we needed. Kind, steady, observant, patient and always always always: there.

Lenny was awesome. I thought she would annoy me at first but nah: quirky, fun, chaotic and resilient. If she’s the flame of this story then Miles is a cupped palm around it, protecting her fire with his own skin.

I’m too lazy to give you a summary, but I would recommend this book for sure. But be ready for some pain, it’s not all sunshine in this house.
