A genre-chopping narrative, switching voices and styles, sliding between murder mystery, dark academia, memoir and other nods as well that I probably missed. Entertaining and clever with a fabulous 'Friends' denouement that isn't even the end! Easy listening with well-formed villains and much to which one can relate. ]]>

Great world-building, though I found a few of the elements tricky to get my head around and could have done with a brief, spoiler-free history to help me along. I preferred the supporting characters to our two protagonists and I wept when we lost one. And my favourite are the dragons, of course.

I think this is my first foray into romantasy and I don't think this marks my grasping for more of this whole new genre, but I'll probably read book two if Al kindly gifts me that also. The romance is predictable and I could have taken less of it.

Good twist at the end. Then 'Can't get enough of Fourth Wing? Here are some scenes from Xaden's perspective!' wrecked it with the drawling American accent, though was titillating hearing him mentally tear into Dane.

Anywho. More? Maybe. Eventually. ]]>

Funny, weirdly relatable (on the depression of being owned by The Man side, not the workplace affair side) and distinctive, Green Dot pulled me along and brought me joy even from within a morally contentious subject matter. ]]>

An excellent debut from an exciting new author, the Saltwater Scripts introduces a compelling universe modelled closely on our own, with the addition of a new, human-like race that has faced eradication at the hands of the fearful homo sapiens who have painted the ‘new race as aggressors.

Told through three central characters, we discover the legend of the Aqua Diamond and the implications of its discovery the two human ‘outsiders help to orientate the reader within the new world, alongside the brooding narrative of Rehan. The characterisations are clear throughout, from the central figures through to colourful supporting types, including the magnificently-realised Vespiant, a crime-queen whose entire vibe draws on the most colourful aspects of the classic Disney villain. She rocks.

I can’t wait for book two!

This isn't written for experience or qualified coaches - rather, it's for busy people managers who want to reduce their team's dependency on them. MBS proposes seven questions to encourage your people to think for themselves and solve their own issues. The book is very short for 200+ pages because there are sections for you to write in, but the lovely soft quality of the production of the book rather put me off making my own annotations. MBS says he reads over 100 business books a year which is a bit nuts, but he does recommend one or two in each category at the end. The books links to videos, reading lists and further resources, many of which I'd already explored. So if you've never really worked on your leadership, this would be a great place to start! And I've photographed the seven questions as they are pretty solid and easy to remember - good for conversations with my own team, meetings and those water cooler moments, as well as coaching sessions. ]]>
