I've never intentionally engaged with any work that Viola Davis has done, she's just an actor who has never really been on my radar (I saw The Help and an episode of HTGAWM) so I skipped over this memoir for a long while. I finally gave it a shot after hearing the opening line and I was hooked. Wow! What a tumultuous journey! Just when you think another bad thing couldn't happen, it did, and worse, all before she was even a teenager. So impressed with everything I've learned about her and all her struggles and how far she's come through sheer determination and talent. ]]>
