I didn't want to read this book. The main reason was because it is Y/A and I honestly don't buy that genre anymore. Every story is a copy paste of the one before. We have our typical main character who is gorgeous, but filled with flaws and of course the unnecessary love triangle that we ALL know who is going to win. I mean, come on people. You can't actually be doubting. I forgot to mention that most of the time, the girl is stupid and the main guy is an asshole.

While The Selection does have some of these elements like the unnecessary love triangle, it surprised me quite a bit. America Singer, though her name is the stupidest thing ever, is not THAT of an airhead and Maxon is most certainly NOT an asshole. Aspen on the other is pathetic and he can go die in a corner for all I care.
