The Seven O’Clock Club was not what I was expecting at all, and that’s not a negative!

We follow 4 individuals as they meet up every Tuesday at Genevieve’s flat for therapy, each person has their own story to tell and you are kept wondering what brought them to the sessions. It unfolds at a nice steady pace and then you’re hit with how they were selected for therapy�.

I am a huge fan of Lesley Pearse so was very happy to receive an ARC of her new book! As with any of her books, they are well researched and span a a good few years.
Mary meets Elizabeth right at the beginning of the the story & we follow her journey during WW2 in the East End, Ireland and Bristol, I won’t say too much in case I spoil the story but it’s definitely worth picking up and reading!

One thing I did feel when reading this particular book was that it lacked that grit that previous books have had but it was a great story! Tammy is a sand artist who notices a stranger watching her work, she approaches and meets Ruan who is a solicitor has recently moved to Cornwall, The book has a few layers and for me got going in the last third� mystery, families and romance.

"I struggled with this one unfortunately. The description of the Cornish Harbour town was wonderful, The premise for the story was promising and I was expecting to love it, however I just couldn't warm to Tammy the FMC. She cam across an entitled brat who doesn't take into account anyone's feeling but her own, and woe betide those who don't put her in the centre of their worlds. Or in the case of Ruan, even if they do it isn't good enough. The book wrapped up tidily enough but by then I wasn't invested in a HEA."

I don’t know what it is but Christie Barlow has the knack of transporting you and making you want to be part of the community she writes about�
We return to Puffin Island and this time we’re focused on Amelia Brown and centred at her book shop! I really liked how each chapter alternated between the two main characters, her and Jack as it kept the story succinct.

I did guess the twists early on however this didn’t take way anything from my reading experience. I cannot wait to return to the island yet again for book 4.
