I was pleasantly surprised. I haven't picked up a Stephen King in about 15 years as the last I read was such a slog. This was a delightful read, however! I was quite suss on this recommendation. It was typical King- his voice is so recognisable even after putting him down 15 years ago I feel like his books can write themselves (that is not a AI suggestion). I loved the extra touch of the illustrations at the beginning of each chapter and the large letter- reminded me of the Fairy Tales I read (gobbled) as a kid. I enjoyed the style in which this was written. Kind of a best in show/ drop dead gorgeous mocumentary in the vein of Behind the music. But honestly, that's about all I enjoyed! The ending really put me off, to be honest. It wasn't needed. It was grand with tales of addiction/unrequited love/ entitled brats/ bitter bandmates until that damn ending.
