Autumn in a book. The first was a whirlwind of small town cuteness and tender moments between Jeanie and Logan and it was so cosy to read that it made me wish the second half was as strong. For two leads who found confidence and security in the other, I wish they trusted each other and that we got more night time, warmly lit cafe stakeout conversations about their insecurities and fears.

I'm not the biggest reader of insta-love romances so it did surprise me how quickly these two were down bad. But the turns in their relationship fueled by this desire for each other was always at the brink of giving me whiplash. One chapter they were smiling and in love. The next they were in their own heads, doubting the other and walking away. I wish someone would just make them sit for longer than five minutes to just talk and learn about each other.

This a cosy small town romance so expect all the cosy clichés that come with it. I ate that all up. Except for the twist at the end about who was targeting her cafe which was just asking too much from the reader to suspend their belief and not haul their ass to small town jail.

I'm still collating my thoughts because I binge read the entire Ember quartet this month and my head and heart are still in the Ember world. Heartbroken that this is the end and I have to say goodbye to Laia, Elias and Helene forever.
