The most difficult of Heyer's novels to put down, so far! The determination of her neighbors and relatives to try to manipulate Venetia into living in a way they consider unexceptionable is infuriating- they go far beyond speaking to her about their concerns.
I do really enjoy reading Heyer's novels, but she has a tendency to abandon the novel much too quickly after the main characters reach an understanding; I'd prefer to have a bit more follow up. A wonderful read about a new school teacher in a new London suburb.
