bookshelves: debuts, netgalley-arc, poetry
I really, really enjoyed this collection of poems about body positivity, motherhood, friendship, self-care and self-love and so much more. They were accessible, relatable and thoughtful and are sure to resonate with many women, mothers and non-mothers alike. Some of my favorites included The compliment game, Marriage of friends, Cycle of women and Same. Highly recommended, especially for fans of poets like Amanda Lovelace.

Favorite lines:
"I think of what a gift it is to be part of a cycle of women who care. Who are cared for, who take care of their young and each other, who know how to care well for themselves."

"it is hard to describe how good it feels to be part of a group of women who belong to each other."

"We never know whose day we will change, whose life will be impacted by our words. The lesson, I think? Give compliments wherever you go." ]]>

This was an entertaining blend of YA contemporary romance and fantasy by a new to me author. I really like the main female protagonist and her entrepreneurial spirit, working hard on making nature based perfumes. When she and another boy get whisked away to this alternate fantasy world things get really interesting as they make friends there and then one of them gets trapped forcing the other to find a way to save them both. Good on audio narrated by Soneela Nankani (one of my favs). Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review! 10/10 for the gorgeous cover! ]]>

bookshelves: mystery-thriller, netgalley-arc
A domestic thriller involving multiple families, lots of secrets and motives as five college students disappear over the parents' weekend and the police race to figure out what happened. I thought this was just okay, I liked Brittany Pressley as the narrator (she's one of my favs) but I didn't especially get invested in the story. I also didn't guess the ending so if you like books by Shari Lapena or Mary Kubica you may enjoy this one too. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review! ]]>
