This was a good story, but vastly overrated in my opinion by many people review, and one that want to consider themselves literary experts.
It is long and drawn out, and perhaps there is literal beauty in it, but at the end, it was just the story about kids doing something horrible to a friend and then the ramifications of living with that guilt and all that happens in the aftermath..
The story wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t exciting, suspenseful or dramatic for that matter.

[ SPOILER ALERT: Although, from the very beginning, we know that bunny was been killed by his friends we don’t know exactly why. The author takes us on a long journey to find the reason and I could honestly see a scenario like this playing out in real life. The nuggets dropped by the author that led the reader to think there was more to the story were never fully revealed. Also am I the only person that thought Camilla and Charles incest was a little weird? The fact that the other characters didn’t mind that it was happening? ]

I can’t say I would recommend this book to anyone and am honestly quite baffled but the thousands of good reviews ]]>

The Wedding Party by L.R. Jones
"I enjoyed this thriller, but I didn’t love it. While it captured my attention and kept me guessing all throughout, it sadly fell short during the final twist at the end.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

2.5 stars"

If there were a prize for the most poignant novel of the year (decade?), Hany Yanagihara would certainly win it hands down.
The book is a block of pain spanning more than 1100 pages, barely lightened by a few flashes of happiness that don't last long. It's a harrowing novel, too, not just for its length but for that dark, depressing edge it almost never shies away from.

Yes, it's intense, addictive and intelligently constructed.

Among the novel's most positive aspects, above all, is the hymn to friendship between four boys of different races and sexual orientations (it's a pity, however, that women are so under-represented). The real drawbacks lie elsewhere: in the book, there's no middle ground.

It's either atrocious, with people who seek only to take advantage of Jude in every way or it's ideal, with good, generous, selfless people who love Jude sincerely and seek to help him when he's down (which is to say, continually). Very black or very white

It took me over 6 months to read the book, separating myself from the characters is heartbreaking and the story goes round and round in my head.

wow. okay. um. that was definitely not going in the direction i thought it was honestly, when i read thrillers/mysteries, my pea-sized brain doesn’t ever think two steps ahead and unravel the puzzle. I DID THINK EJ WAS THE HUSBAND FOR A FAT MINUTE. i liked this but felt like it repeated a lot in some areas, like i was reading the same sentence like three times just rearranged. the twist did clear up A LOT of unanswered questions / theories i had goin. tricia was the mastermind fr and had me FOOLED thinking she was the damsel in distress. overall, really good story development and plot! i liked this a lot! ]]>
