I am always amazed how an author can say so much in just a few pages. Food for thought definitely.
A short story with hidden messages, often cynical, regarding religion, pointless wars and people you cannot realize how insignificant they are in this vast universe.

For those you still wondered what the blank pages meant (the below comment is from brainly.com):

In Voltaire's short story "Micromégas," the significance of the blank pages in Sirian's book lies in their representation of a philosophical statement about knowledge and human understanding. Micromégas, a creature from Sirius, brings a book to Earth, claiming it contains knowledge of everything, which sparks anticipation among the scholars at the Academy of Science in Paris. However, upon opening the book, they find that all the pages are blank.

This emptiness symbolizes several key ideas. First, it reflects Micromégas' realization of the limitations of human understanding. Despite his vast knowledge acquired from his journeys, he perceives that no single volume could encompass the complexities of human thought and existence. This aligns with his observations of the intellectual arrogance of humans, who often quote philosophers without truly grasping their meanings. Micromégas concludes that humans should write their own stories and philosophies rather than relying on a foreign perspective that may not resonate with their experiences.

Furthermore, the blank pages signify a moment of humility. Micromégas recognizes that knowledge cannot simply be handed down; it must be discovered and understood through experience. By leaving the pages blank, he encourages humanity to explore their own thoughts, beliefs, and ideas, promoting the notion that wisdom is a personal journey rather than a destination. Through this act, he emphasizes the importance of individual growth and understanding, suggesting that true enlightenment comes from within rather than from external sources.

Therefore, the blank pages serve as a powerful metaphor for the importance of personal interpretation, the limitations of universal knowledge, and the complex nature of understanding human experiences. By choosing not to fill the pages, Micromégas allows humans the freedom to develop their own philosophies, reflecting the theme of enlightenment and the pursuit of knowledge in a genuine and personal way. ]]>

Micromegas by Voltaire
"Wow, Voltaire very beautifully shows in this short story how ridiculously insignificant we are; infinitesimal fleeting beings with insanely great prides.

update: rereading this in 2021. Wow. what indeed a beautiful read. what still stands out for me is the way “creatures -just to be generic- tend to focus on what’s out of their reach, and often trivialize what they cannot comprehend. the way we’re infinitesimal and appear to be limited however are also powerful, frivolous and unapologetically arrogant that we’d kill each other over a piece of land.
it is super fun seeing how micromegas and the dwarf from Saturn listed down their robust attributes however felt extremely minute the moment they were challenged by the animalcules or the atoms that are humans, that despite their insignificance proved to have ideas, and understandings that extended to metaphysics.

Από που να ξεκινήσω;

Old fashioned, closed minded and way to American for my taste. (If you know, you know!)

-Against co sleeping
-Stating the very basic of any human interaction
-And suggesting to not keep weapons at home (?)

The last part of the book, however, with also the different illnesses, was quite helpful. ]]>

Dimitris Papastergiou is on page 151 of 332 of Brotherhood: Even though it is Star Wars, and it feels Star Wars, and every character is indeed in fact *in* character, I'm halfway through the book and still.. nothing happened.
