This is a sweet, fun quick read with an adorable American MC whose quirky nature helps thaw a grumpy, uptight British financier.

What do you do if your new boss in London turns out to be the hot bear who was your one-night stand in Vegas? And what do you do if you find out your new employee is the chatty, quirky guy you picked up in Vegas who told you he was way under-qualified for his new job? Well, if you are Raine and Graham you end up starting a no strings attached good time fling. And as everyone who’s ever read a romance knows, that’s never the way things turn out.

This book is a wonderful sunshine/grump story from an author who excels at writing interesting and compelling characters that readers can’t help but fall for. I swear I always wish Hayes characters were people I knew in real life and that they were my friends. They are written as three-dimensional people who you can totally believe exist somewhere in the world. Whether it is members of a band, college athletes, nerd/jock pairings, Hollywood producers or actors, bakers, small town hockey players, or any of the other settings Hayes has created, you know you are going to get a well constructed world with realistic and lifelike characters who come off as real people with feelings and emotions the reader can empathize with and have a vested interest in their HEA.

I have never been disappointed reading a book from this author and that is true again here. I loved Raine’s irrepressible nature, and it hurt my heart when he talked about the situation he had left behind in California. It was a treat watching Graham’s confusion at how Raine had taken ahold of him and his wonder at why he couldn’t wave him away as he had previous hook ups. When the crisis point hit my heart just ached for both men. The ending was different than what I was expecting, and I was delighted by the way it turned out.

This book is a fun, sweet, quick read (I read it in one sitting!) that will have you smiling and laughing throughout while appreciating the ultimate message of story. ]]>

Very different premise…intriguing

This first book by an author new to me has an interesting premise. I’ve been trying several different K9 series lately and when this one was recommended I figured I’d give it a try. It starts out kind of slowly and the story arc definitely could have a speedier pace. Neither MC really grabbed my attention and made me want to root for their HEA, especially the sheriff who I thought was a jerk. But his daughter did grab me so I wanted to get her story.

The crisis point is gripping though it was obvious to me who the villain was and I had suggested that person earlier. When the crisis hits it is so obvious to me and I can’t believe it never occurs to Haley. The ending is sweet. I’m curious where the series goes from here. ]]>
