Scanlines by Todd Keisling is a trip back to the nostalgia of the 90s dial-up internet, chats, and downloading things we hoped were what we were actually looking for. But like the teens in this book, you don't always get what you want. The Warrior Retreat shows us the lengths service people have gone through to fight brutal battles overseas, only to have them follow soldiers home, where the biggest enemy can be themselves. This book is a character driven look inside the minds of a group of different soldiers turned citizens and does a great job highlighting how much more work we have to do to ensure these humans aren't forgot about, lest they end up at a warrior retreat like this one. ]]>
