"The fact this book is censored and very hard to find makes the case it makes that much more believable! For those skeptical of the book this book was recommended by an ex CIA agent Larry Johnson who is friends with Sy Hersh the reporter who just broke the story about the US blowing up the Nordstream pipeline. Otherwise I would be skeptical myself but it has that going for it and it explains this ridiculous vendetta we have against Russia.

What the west has done to Russia in the post Soviet era is not only criminal but beyond stupid and now approaching suicidal. This book discusses the west's involvement in Russia in the 90s and the affects and corruption of the shock doctrine that violently transitioned Russia from communism to capitalism. The author grew up in Yugoslavia and is Croatian so he contrasted what happened in Russia and Croatia, though faced with similiar problems, Croatian's did not starve, and fail to receive their wages despite being at war for 4 years. Meanwhile, while the west and their Russian oligarchs got rich, looted Russia and took control of Russia's resources the people faced famine and economic collapse. 5-6 million people died in Russia due to excess deaths they can't account for which is 3-4% of the population, which as a percent is more than most countries even China lost in WW2. During this time 170,000 people were murdered. Gangs and crime was rampant.

In 1999 Chechnya revolted under the banner of Islamic extremism and Yeltsin, who had previously either been complicit in the above rape of Russia or was so naïve he was easily taken advantage of, appointed a little known bureaucrat named Putin to deal with Chechnya as things were not going well. On top of the war the Russian federation was on the verge of breaking apart as local governments stopped paying taxes to the corrupt and bankrupt state and were writing their own laws. Putin restored the military situation and 4 months later Yeltsin stepped down and Putin was elected President in 2000.

During his time as President Putin has worked tirelessly and largely succeeded in restoring Russia economically and culturally. All the metrics point a very significant trend upward as crime, murder, suicide, and corruption have dropped and Russia went from needing to import food during the 90s as 80% if their farms went bankrupt to exporting food and making 20 billion in exports.

A large part of the book is spent refuting Bill Browder's lies which just point to how systematic the hatred of Russia in the west has been. A very interesting read if you can find it I only put the parts I found interesting but there is so much more!

I will say as an investment banker he has some wild ideas about how Oligarchs have caused everything bad in the past 200 years. Much of this is far fetched to me but then again he's not completely wrong with the WEF and George Soros who play a big role in this book. I think he is wrong in the size of their involvement but he's not completely wrong either.

Also fun fact Russia helped the Union during the Civil War by moving their ships into NY and SF to keep England and France from joining the war on the Confederate side. Never heard that before very interesting!

Another fun fact: Yeltsin's approval rating was at 2% when he stepped down and was at 6% when he won an election. ie clearly stolen! Putin over an 11 year period from 2006 to 2017 averaged a 74% approval rating and at times was as high as 80-90%!! If the man is a tyrant he is the best damned tyrant to have ever lived! Aristotle would have called this a monarch who rules wisely and justly.
