Erin is 34% done with The Inheritance: It’s so annoying when a narrator says they have a secret and you have to wait, like come out with it! 😫

I think locked-door mysteries on an island are not hitting with me right now I just don’t care about this super rich family and their drama!"

My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell
"This book is phenomenal.

I really found I was reaching for this book all the time, on any little break I could take throughout the work day. Even after I finished the book, I accidentally reached for it one night. It had just kept me so hooked. Yet at the same time, I probably could not read it ever again.

The psychology of the characters in this book is done so brilliantly and comprehensively. Sometimes the differing psychology of the two characters, such as during scenes of manipulation, are done so well as to create a very layered and engaging reading experience.

Some reviewers say the book is too long. I definitely disagree, and I think the length of the book is part of how the author is able to so acutely, precisely, and with so much detail unravel the psychology of Vanessa and the full extent of what the abuse did to her. And the characters are so comprehensively realized that everything unfolds in a way that feels like it 'makes sense'.

I also really commend this author for diving into some complexities and ambiguities.

It did not hurt that I also liked the visual writing style. Sometimes images described were very beautiful, although most of the time the detail given was efficient in a very satisfying way.

This book feels like the response to 'Lolita' that was always meant to exist. It's almost hard to believe it didn't exist sooner. I know it did have its moment on the literary scene, but I'm surprised it wasn't bigger. Maybe in years to come it will pick up traction. "

Upping my rating to 5 stars! I had the worst day today and this book managed to put a smile on my face, so I think that makes it worthy of 5 stars.

This book was so cute omg! I have no idea why I only gave it 4 stars the first time I read it. While this book isn't reinventing the wheel or anything, it gave me exactly what I was looking for. Cassandra and Matthew were really well-developed characters that were perfect for each other. We met both of them in previous books, but it was nice to see the story from their POV. They both seemed a bit sad when they were introduced, so it was nice to see them (especially Matthew!) get their HEA :)

Original Review
I forgot to review this when I finished it, but I really liked this! Like the previous books in the series, it was a really simple but sweet romance. The main couple was older and more mature which set them apart from the previous couples. I wish they had more scenes together though! That's why I'm rating this 4 instead of 5 stars. ]]>

This was so cute omg! It's definitely still my favorite in the series. Jack and Louisa are so cute and adorable and I loved reading about them falling in love. This book is pure joy and exactly what I needed to read right now. (Especially since I got trapped on the subway for an hour with nothing but my kobo.)

There was a decent amount of depth to the story, especially in Jack's character, but the more difficult topics never got in the way of this being mainly a really cute story about two people falling in love. I'm so excited to continue with the series and am anxiously waiting for my hold on the next book to come in.

Original Review
Possibly my favorite in the series yet! This was so unbelievably cute!! I don't have too much to say about this though, so here are some bullet points:

- I wasn't a huge fan of the hero, Jack, at the beginning of the story, but he grew on me and I understand why he was acting the way that he was.
- I enjoyed how this story was different from the previous two. There wasn't any hiding of feelings or anything like that since the main couple was married really early into the story.
- I wish we had gotten more updates about Alice and Bridgette.
- I can't wait to read the next story! I've already read the synopsis, so I know exactly who the couple will be. ]]>

I really, really hated the last story (it was about one of my least favorite tropes) so the emotional part of me wants to give this 1 star, but I feel like it's probably more of a 2.5. I found this really cozy and easy to read, but a bit repetitive and predictable. I can see why it's so popular, but it unfortunately didn't live up to the hype for me.

I'm looking forward to hearing what the rest of bookclub thinks about it! ]]>

In my last review I said I couldn't decide if this was an objectively good book or if I just liked the movie, but I can now say that I think this is just a good book. It certainly benefits from being a Star Wars book since the author didn't need to a lot of the world-building, but I think it can still stand on its own.

I recently re-watched the movie, so I was extra impressed by the characters in this. The author added so much depth to the characters without changing who they were shown the be in the movie. There's a decently large cast of characters but I loved all of them! (Which made their death scenes extra sad.) The most added character depth was for Baze who didn't have a ton of development in the film. In this novelization I felt like I understood him a lot more and his relationship with Chirrut and the Force. We only got glimpses of this in the movie so I really liked how this was expanded in this book.

Also, I have to say that Star Wars audiobooks are pretty incredible. Say what you will about Disney, but they know how to produce a good audiobook. There are sound effects, music, voice modulators--pretty much anything you could want in an audiobook! While the book can stand on its own, if you pick this up I'd highly recommend the audiobook.

Original Review
I don't think I can objectively rate/review this book. I loved the film, and since this is a novelization of the film, I was pretty sure I would like it. I wasn't, however, expecting to love it as much as I did.

For some reason, I really like reading novelizations of films. I often found that novelizations don't add anything to the film, and it's basically like reading a script. Luckily, Rogue One wasn't like that. In the film, you get to know the characters, but you don't get to hear their thoughts, and you have to speculate on what their true motivations are. This novelization adds extra scenes that add depth to the characters, and there is a lot of internal monologue, so you really get to know the character's true feelings. I especially enjoyed learning more about Cassian and Krennic since they're both a bit mysterious in the movie.

Again, I can't objectively say if this was a good book or not, but I really enjoyed it :) ]]>
