this book was a very nice light read! it was enlightening to read and helped navigate heavy emotions. the only thing is that it most definitely has a christian undertone in it which might not be for everyone

A friend gifted me this book a few years ago when I was going through a rough patch of my life. It's a collection of short stories about the good there is in the world. I liked the format, as I could read as little or as much as I wanted to.

The title says it all. Stories that will make you smile and some that will bring a tear to even the most cynical eye. Since I can cry watching Hallmark commercials, I'm definitely an easy touch. Most of this type of book gets so overly sentimental that you go into sugar-shock, but this one wasn't over-the-top. Most of the stories just illustrated the miracles of day to day life. I was especially touched by the story "The Blue Washcloth". With the short stories/chapters this made great bathroom reading.

I didn’t really enjoy this book as much as I thought I would - I enjoyed the chicken soup books growing up and thought this would be in the same line but it wasn’t really

This book was a delightful group of short stories about teachers and students describing their experiences within a school setting. Educators don't always realize the impact we have on a student and their lives. It is great to know that the saying 'if I make a difference in one student's life, then my career was worth it' now reflects the fact that every day we make a difference in many student's lives. When we look back on our careers, we will not be able to count those we've impacted!

Got this book for Christmas from my sister-in-law. I enjoyed it. I think this is a book all should read for encouragement, hope, and peace. A few of the stories made me cry because of the love I felt as I read the stories. A few of my favorites were: "The Crying Chair," "The Colors of Prejudice," and "The Blue Washcloth." A good feel good book to read.

Nice stories, most of them beautifully written. I often found that one of these stories could have a great impact on me, see things differently. But most of the time not for very long, so I would say 'short term inspiration'. Not a book to read in one sitting, a few stories a time worked better for me.

It served it's purpose - comfort - but they are short stories and largely do not reach the depth this topic requires. Although I've read other 'short' stories that didn't have the same issue, perhaps these are too short. As I said, purpose served but that's it.

I like the short story format of the book. A lot of the stories renewed my faith in the fact that there are still good people in the world. Some were inspiring but most were just enough to renew my faith in humanity. It is a good counter to all the negative stories on the news today.
