The man who killed my family—Linan Clanguard.

The truth radiated vibrantly in my very soul, but that gut feeling didn’t provide the proof that we needed. The proof that would show he had arranged for the attack and subsequent slaughter of the entire Flash Clan.

With my mates by my side, we set off towards the rogue lands in search of the truth and end up discovering far more than we could have ever expected.

And when we uncover the real reason my clan was attacked? My worst fears come to life as I realize I’m to blame.

So far this whole series is like a 2.5

The plot would be good if there wasn’t so many plot holes. Even with the “memory loss spell that doesn’t make up for the fact that she knows nothing about the world or supernatural in general lol

In addition to her not knowing anything, neither do we. There wasn’t enough information given about anything and then what little information we were given seems to have contradictions or plot holes every time something new is introduced.

Also, the female mc is very childlike and it’s cringe to read her POVS. The male mcs call her awful nicknames literally every single sentence they say to her and that’s one of my biggest pet peeves. Why is that dude calling her cupcake every six words.

This must be one of my favorite series in the Dark Imaginarium Academy universe. And that's mostly because the heroine is my favorite kind of heroines. I'm therefore always looking forward to the next book in this series. For some reason I was expecting this to be the last book in the series, but luckily I discovered before I started that there is fourth book coming so I could start reading this book with the right expectations.

What I like most about this book is Bexley's character growth without it changing her completely. With every book she's getting stronger and we do discover that she has more power than anyone thought possible and yet she never truly loses her innocence. And that allows her guys to protect her without it becoming stifling. She allows them to protect her, especially when she knows she lacks experience and the right mind to do something.

I also like how much we get to see of the world in this book. All the books in this universe are staying mostly in their own corner of the world, but in this book we see that all those corners are linked and do exist in the same world indeed. Our characters visit Sanquin, the world we get to know better in Blood Oath. And we even get to see the Fae in this novel, which was actually way more pleasant than I had thought it would be.

And then there's the politics. The previous book ended with the politics finally coming to Bexley. She is changing the world already and she doesn't even realize it, but of course her enemies do. In this book there are a few new reveals, especially concerning the motive of the attack on her family, and once more the book ends with quite a cliffhanger and quite some exciting reveals in the finale. I'm really curious to see how this series will end!

Ms. Sinclair you are killing me here. Yes in the best way but oh my goodness this story was awesome. It has us a riding alongside of Bex and her mates as questions and answers are sought out. I am telling you that it kept me so deeply engaged and glued to it as we feel their pain, happiness, and even joy and sadness. It has so many twists and turns throughout it. The shocking revelations that are revealed in this book are amazing. I love Bex and her sweetness that just pours out of her. Not only for her friends but for complete strangers. I love the growth that she has done over the series.I always have loved how protective her mates are of her. It just adds that little extra to the story. I am going to be honest I would love to see all of the Dark Imaginarium Academy books combined to make a fantastic movie or tv show. They are honestly that good. The drama, the suspense, mystery, and action all combined in this book have you on a spectacular journey that will leave you flabbergasted. However, that was one major cliffhanger at the end. This book is definitely a must read and it will not disappoint.

All the answers 😄
This is a great third book as it provides a lot of answers to snippets that have been dropped throughout the previous two books whilst also setting up for a big finale!!
Bexley is determined to search for the answers regarding the genocide of her clan and her family, a face from the past leads her on a journey through the various lands in search of that one person who could possibly offer her what she needs 😬🥺
Not only that but Clanguard is starting to stir unrest in the city against the leading clans, with lines being drawn it’s difficult to know who’s friend and who’s foe 😖
Thankfully Bex has Gage, Breaker and Jagger as her protective and possessive mates who are happy to support her…along with being obsessed with her and the possibility of the future 🥰😍🥰
There’s some shocks they find along the way with new friends and old supporting Bex when she makes her decision.although she may need to forge a new path after that cliffhanger 😳😳

OREVIEW FOR ENTIRE SERIES (The Storm Dragon's Mate) ⛈🐉

•Overall rating: 4.5/5. Ok so I shall start with a disclaimer, this was the fourth (final) series I read for the DIA chronicles and did so immediately after Phases of the moon series.

THE 4TH BOOK COMES OUT IN 4 MONTHS! GAH WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF?!?!?! 😰

The last 2 series are written by M.Sinclair but continues on with Caulders other DIA novels; The worlds within this series are derivative but in a good way - I wasn't craving a new author's spin on the classical monsters ie: vampires, witches, wolves and ghouls, I mean, if it aint broke ya know?

The series was easy to read, was quick about world building but detailed enough that I could see everywhere and also scattered Easter eggs & references to her other books in here that kept me wondering (pre-emptively getting me hooked on all the series... well played Sinclair). The idea is that there's different realms for different monsters and what ties them all together for the sake of this plot is an academy that students (21+ so we keep is saucy not icky) can attend to hone their skills... yet they seem to bone more than hone in my opinion *gasps and clutches pearls* 😲

This series, covered the Shifter Sector (Animals) and follows Bex/Bexley (hated the name) and her three mates (my ranking):

1. Gage Bronzehheart: Bronze storm dragon heir.
Rich, aggressive, dark, leader and who she is closest with/grew up with. She also had no idea he was in love with her... hello friends to lovers trope! Looks like he could kill you - could kill you.
2. Breaker Firespell : Gold storm dragon heir.
Rich, golden retriever, beef cake, chef and emotionally giving. Looks like he could kill you - is a cinnamon roll.
3. Jagger Silvershade: Silver storm dragon heir.
Rich, handome, Gojo-esk look, thirsty ALL THE TIME and all about pleasure. Looks like a cinnamon roll - could kill you.

Favourite character: The mates made these books. PERIOD. 🐉🐉🐉🥵🥰😜

Look I am bias to a baddie and Bex just wasn't it for me**. That being said her damsel energy was needed as it complimented the males very well, I acknowledge that if she had been more independent then the dynamics wouldn't have sat as well as they did. Gage was so romantic and the perfect amount of possessive & caring. Breaker was this swoll marshmellow and he was so cute leaving her little notes as she grew up because he couldn't go see her. Jagger... did things to me. HE WAS JUST SO HOT! 🔥 hehe dragon pun.

The combination of their personalities was like the ultimate WAP dream everyone! I don't really like marriage, kids and together forever tropes but these 3 dragon daddys totally had me sighing and saying "YA'LL GET MARRIED, HAVE DRAGON BABIES AND LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER!". I enjoyed how they gave autonomy to Bex but also had the initiative to take care of things - healthy boundaries people! Kudos goes to Sinclair for the male POV chapters, it was just... so intense reading romance wise - made me hate on the entire IRL male population by the end of book 1.

Can I also shout out to Rachel Rabbit?!? 🐇

 Hated character: **Bex 🙄

Ok hear me out! Her fashion choices, her amnesia in the entire book one leading to her being an idiot (like you can't remember the past but why you acting dumb in the present), her needing to be fed all the time, her cuddling in/being a weakling despite being a DRAGON, hating violence, telling her mates what to do despite not being an expert, taking ages to click the most basic plots, her gross rich girl energy and her overall codependent vibe. DIDN'T CLICK SHE WAS A STORM DRAGON DESPITE BEING MATED TO 3... GTFO! 😒🙄🤔

IT MADE THE MALES BETTER BUT FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! I don't want to hang with her haha

Smut vs Plot: 50/50 the romance mainly in book 1 and smut comes in book 2 & 3. Bex doesn't give super horny like the other leading ladies so its male instigated and because they are always caring for her (naps, food, bathing etc) they give her days breaks from their dragony appetites' which I hated haha HOWEVER the story was interesting and covered shifter politics and deceit so I remained entertained.

 Spice rating (1-5): 🌶🌶🌶.5

Note: I may have messaged my friends at the time saying if my next partner doesnt refer to me as edible... then I dont it. 🤷‍♀️

Reminds me of: the logic of the dragon's needs/POV reminded me of Fourth Wing/Iron flame which was nice to read about. Fiery dragons always come back to those books though don't they? I MISS YOU ANDARNA! 🥺

Re-read: YES! I had a great time and pre-ordered the final book for July. These were my favourite out of all 4 of the series in the DIA world. 💶

Trope: Reverse Harem, Mated bonds, Fantasy, Shifters, Dragons & good ol possessive males!

 Pet names:
Bex, Cupcake, little treasure & mo chuisle/my pulse 😩😩😩 so sweet!!!

Smut energy: hmmmmm it was very much innocent but curious girl meets 3 very different dragons, offering different options which she very much cared for. The situations were pretty vanilla and predictable bar the last book which surprised me. CAN I JUST SAY the way Sinclair describes climaxing, claiming & marking... euphoric. Had me out here wishing I could relate! Such great writing. 🎆

Also, all virgins at the start which yall know I don't care for BUT they didn't hype it up too much so I was comfortable. It was highly predictable (in a good way) that she would lose her V plates to Gage as he was her best friend first PLUS I am glad when they did it had a "fuck it" "he snapped" energy 🖤 Defs some breeding kinks happening considering the storm dragon's cannot locate any more female dragons and shes mated to three heirs HOWEVER for once... I love it hehehe HAVE DRAGON BABIES ASAP!

Note: Jagger hasn't completed his bonding/mating which has me on edge! 🙀

 Favourite dynamic: THEIR ENTIRE FAMILY!
🤍🤎💛🖤
The males & Bex being best friends and growing up together was adorable. The kids fighting over who is her best friend in their youth... GAH TOO CUTE! I had nothing but time for them hanging out around campus, their dorm and how sweet the three of them were with Bex who lets be real...needed that. Also the males banter amongst each other as 3 bff hits - so many lols when they are roasting each other or Bex... roast... dragon pun hehehe

🎶 Flashing lights and we. Took a wrong turn and we. Fell down a rabbit hole 🎶

The truth had always burned brightly within Bex (h), a gut feeling that screamed the identity of the person responsible for the destruction of the Flash Clan. But no matter how strong the conviction, she lacked the proof to expose him for the mastermind behind the attack and massacre. With the support of her mates, she embarks on a dangerous journey into the rogue lands, hoping to uncover the truth that has haunted her.

─── 。゚: THOUGHTS*. .*:☆゚. ───

“I know what you need, cupcake. He suddenly pulled his fingers from my center and licked them, making me moan at the sight alone. “But if you’re going to come, it’s going to be on my lips.

This whole book was just Bexley running around trying to figure out what happened to her parents, and Linen being at the center of it all, but it got so repetitive/ She was all over the place, chasing after Rebecca like she was the only key to unlocking her memories, and honestly? I was just waiting for something exciting to happen. And Gage with the “cupcake nicknameif he called her that one more time, I was ready to lose it. Like, we get it, she likes food and cupcakes, but come on! 🧁 That was all I could really take away from it. Just…ugh.

“Its because it smells like your cum in here, Gage explained, chuckling. “His dragon lost it, wanting to mark you—and then that happened.

Gage, Jagger, and Breaker being obsessed with her? Sure, fine, but the dialogue is so bad. Every time they open their mouths, I just end up rolling my eyes. The possessiveness makes sense, since they’re dragons, but the way they talk about her just doesn't match the level of coolness their dragons should have. It's like they think they’re being all intense and swoon-worthy, but it just gives me secondhand embarrassment. It’s hard to care about the romance when the writing doesn’t even make it feel believable or, honestly, fun.

“As for the rest of you, take this as a warning. Trust us or not, we keep our word, and anyone who questions it or threatens to take Bexley’s lands from her will end up in far worse shape than Linan is in now.

At this point, the plot just isn’t pulling me in anymore, and honestly, if I’m already on book 3 and it’s lost its grip, I can’t really blame myself for feeling this way. When the story isn’t holding my interest and it feels like it’s dragging without enough payoff, it’s hard to stay motivated to finish, especially when I don’t even care about how it ends. If I’m not invested in her finding her parents or figuring out what happened, then it’s probably not worth pushing through.

─── 。゚: OVERALL*. .*:☆゚. ───

I’m honestly so disappointed because I love dragons and mates, but this one just went off—even for me, and I’m all about those silly little romance books. It had so much potential, but it just didn’t hit the mark.

Surge is the third book in The Storm Dragons Mate series. and was one of the best books I’ve read so far this year! I love Bex and her mates!

This is a reverse harem-lost-love academy shifter romance.

This book picks up where Flicker left off, with Bexley realizing who killed her parents. This book focuses on Bex’s memories coming back and looking for the only person who can help her remember what happened the night she lost everything.

So much happens! They travel to different territories, meet new people, make some surprising new alliances, and learn some shocking news. Also, there’s a prophecy! And Bex solidifies another mate bond at the most interesting time. But mostly, there is Bex’s sweetness and her mates loving and caring for her in ALL ways. *wink, wink* As for the cliffhanger Looks like the past is about to repeat itself.

I can’t believe there’s going to be a book four! I was shocked when I found out, but I’m not mad about it!! There is so much more to tell, and I, for one, love these characters so much, I’m not ready to say bye to them.

I can’t wait for the next book!

Oh wow what a great 3rd book! For some reason I thought this was a trilogy but I’m glad it’s not as we get more of Bex and her guys!!
There is not a boring moment throughout this book, Bex is getting more memories back and they are all getting some answers which they have been looking for! I absolutely love Bex she is just so likeable with how sweet she is but also strong.I love guys who are extremely protective over their mate and Gage, Jagger and Breaker are all so protective of Bexley.
Their relationships are still continuing to grow which I love.
Overall an amazing read and with the how this book ended I definitely cannot wait till the next book.

The action turns up a notch now, Linan is revealed for what he did, but they all can't prove it for some time and Bexley is still gradually getting her memories back. She finds out where Rebecca went, because the witch left clues for her and knew once she had got them back. She did it to help save her in case it was necessary. She doesn't however help her retrieve everything and then they have to work out what to do next but everyone gathers to help find her parents who she is told is alive. Bexley does in this stand up for herself a lot more.

I cannot get enough of Bexley and her dragon mates. This book reveals so many important things for the storyline. Bexley’s relationships further develop as they grow together. Breaker is letting go of some of the issues that he has with his father. There’s an epic road trip that covers vastly different territories. With the way the book ended, I am excited for the final book in the series. A great storyline and compelling writing.

Surge is book three in the Dragons Mate series, and it has ‘more of everything. More spice, more answers, more questions, more characters and more parts of the world to discover. I like how this third book flowed; the storyline and the plot follow along in a way the storyline stays interesting but nothing feels rushed. Our four dragons still have time to develop their relationships, form mate bonds and do all the things paranormal people like to do to form bonds

I enjoyed this part of the series, and I’m looking forward to the release of book four!

Book #3 of 4

🆗 Continues right from where Book #2 ended
🆗 Shifters: dragons, wolves,...(All kinds)
⬇️ Mentions other supernaturals: witches, vampires,...
⬇️ Academy setting: not many scenes about classes
 Book events: too short timeframe
⬇️ Memory loss
⬇️ Quest for the truth
⬇️ Prophecy
⬇️ Inconsistent/contradictory info
⬇️ Weak information/background/build up
⬇️ Unnecessarily/unfounded overdramatic
⬇️ FMC: all perfect, ignorant, innocent snowflake
 Constant description of FMC's outfits
⬇️ Tell no show
Too many direct hints: no subtlety/ build up
⬇️ 1 dimensional characters
⬇️ Cute moments
🆗 Reverse harem
✅ Devoted MMCs
 No cheating
 No OW drama

❗Trigger warning: loss of memory, mentions past loss of family

***

Notes:

Lack of proper development & foundations

- contradictory information/behaviour
- poor explanations
- weak backgrounds
- information that makes no sense
- 1 dimensional characters

For example:

🔸𳾲

Less and less shown about the academy which should have been an essential part of their development and training their powers and diplomacy.

But no.
They are all powerful heirs, they do not need to oblige the rules. They know everything.

Bah...

- Dragon shifters

We do not see other dragons at the academy besides the MCs.

And now that I recall (if correctly), Gage is captain of one sports team and it was said each team was composed with a single type of shifter. So different teams, different shifters. Which seems unfair, due to their powers but also quite strange as other dragons were never mentioned.

🔸Dragon behaviour

Inconsistent/contradictory scenes
(It's as if this series wasn't properly edited!)

- Different dragons and their powers

Not much is said about the differences between dragon types (or about any other supernaturals for that matter).

Not that we get a lot of information about the type of dragons the MCs are besides they get power from storms and cannot be around others during storms (but then, in some scene in book 3, they can, so take this information as you will).

This only leads to the feeling of lack of proper introduction to this world and no development.

- Possessiveness

It is said that dragons are possessive of their things and their treasure.

(And I was so eager to have this part be developed and mixed in the story, especially regarding the mate bond and how the MMCs kept things from the FMC or were part of her life or had done something for her even when she hadn't remembered them. But no. Another missed plot development.)

But then, one moment the FMC is possessive of her family's land but the next she doesn't care people occupied her home. Come again??

(Not to mention, I believe it was quite strange and unbelievable those shifters occupied dragon land and their home. Sure it was abandoned for 8 years, but that is not that long and if everyone knows how powerful, destructive and possessive dragons are...what would give them the idea it would be smart to use/take stuff from dragons??? But sure, let's disregard consistent behaviour once more.)

- Storm dragon reproduction

More contradictions.
In book 1 (if I am not mistaken), it was said dragons or storm dragons can only become pregnant if they decide it so there was no need for contraception for dragons.
But now, suddenly the FMC can be pregnant because they have not used contraception.
Huh????!

Brilliant stuff.

🔸Ѱ

- Perfect snowflake

It does get annoying.
I am all for an innocent FMC but it needs to be believable and well done.

But here, it is all about how perfect she is, how she is loved by everyone, how she can never do anything wrong and how powerful she is but she is always so nice to everyone.
And to help, the MMCs' POV are constantly admiring her beauty, sweetness and innocence.

And now, she is effortlessly powerful and innocently the idealistic defender of the weak.
She doesn't recall her powers, she was young the last time she had them but she has no trouble using them now.

It all feels so forced and fake.

- Ignorant

There is no excuse for her to be so ignorant.

Actually, it should be the opposite.

Even if she cannot know/hear about anything regarding her family, her mates or her powers, that doesn't mean she couldn't have had training.
If everyone cared about her as they claimed, they would have prepared her.

And, unless she is completely oblivious, which she shouldn't be as they claim she is quite smart, she should have been able to make some conclusions regarding her past, herself and what everyone cannot say around her.

🔸dzԳ

- cute moments

Not gonna lie, they do have some sweet moments but mostly it feels empty.

- Unrealistic

Too soon, no build up, no getting to know each other.

The characters are very 1 dimensional and their relationship is pretty instant.

Behaviour wise, it is all very flat and constant, pretty repetitive.

The FMC never gets angry/frustrated nor do the MMCs get angry/frustrated with her.
There are no disagreements.
Everyone gets along with no problems.
They are always so besotted with her, always admiring her and constantly saying the same things: she is so beautiful, she is so cute, I am so lucky to have her, I need to make sure she has her needs taken care of,...
It doesn't feel like a real relationship.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against romance and having the MCs devoted to each other.

My problem here is the delivery. It is too much, too fake, too forced.

***

I will stop at book 3. I have been forcing myself to finish the previous books but no more.
It is sweet and cute but it is all so superficial and flat. It has no build up, no development nor substance.

***

My respect to the author.
No hate.
Just my opinion and so I can recall what I liked/disliked in the future.

I freaking love the Dark Imaginarium Universe, Surge, the third book in the Storm Dragons series is finally here and I'm ecstatic. Visions, a search through the realms, and magical clues lead to one heck of an adventure and the answers that so many have been searching for.

Bex is really starting to become a leader without even trying. Not only does she care about everyone equally (except for her mates, they are above everyone, of course) but she's empathic as well. Bex is also willing to voice what others won't take action when she needs to and isn't afraid of change. Bex would make a fantastic leader. I should also note Bex is discovering her power and it turns out she is probably one of the strongest shifters out there. The scene at the beginning of the story but at the end of the meeting, yeah Bex was impressive, to say the least.

Well, the guys are taking things fairly well, not too many people are dead yet. I finally see why people fear them, Jagger, Gage, and Breaker are powerful and deadly and they use that power to protect Bex. They are consumed by their love for her. Treating her like she is the most precious thing because to them she is. They also kinda spoil her by giving her anything she wants. You wanna travel to Sanguis sure. Wanna get someone into the DIA, why not? The guys support Bex in everything and are devoted to her in every way. I also wanna point out that Bex is also more powerful than the guys, haha.

This book was crazy. I loved it. The story picks up right where the last book ended, the Bex and the guys meet the shifter leaders, and let me tell you, Linan Clanguard is an a-hole of the highest caliber. With Bex's memories resurfacing and focusing on Linan together, Bex and the guys decide it's time to revisit the past, so they go realm hopping. Readers get to see more of Sanguis (the vampire/slayer realm), and they visit Natura (the fae realm). Seeing the fae was fairly interesting and I'm pretty sure Sinclair might not be done with this world because a couple of interesting side characters were introduced. Besides the realm hopping, a variety of different shifter clan leaders are introduced, Bex's memory is steadily resurfacing, the attack that led to Bex's memory loss is becoming clearer, and a major plot is revealed.

Surge was outstanding, I knew it would be. Sinclair gave readers one heck of a plot twist then at the end lob a grenade of a cliffhanger at us, then ran away. I already crave new books in this world like chocolate and now it's a thousand times worse. Like wtf is happening? I need the next book. I can't believe Bex has just one more book, while I hate to see it go, I can't wait to see how it ends.

As the 3rd book of Surge starts Bexley is remembering more and more of her lost memory and one shock was seeing the man who had orchestrated the death of her family. She knew she could not let him know that she remembered who he was. He was already trying to cause trouble for her and her mates. Bexley knew she needed to find Rebecca, to see what else she knew about the night her parents were taken from her and she lost her memory. Luckily she had left a trail of memory crumbs. Bexley and her mates Jagger, Breaker, and Gage started on their hunt that leads them in into different dangerous situations as they go through other realms were inhabitants are not overly friendly. An incident that emotionally upsets her, Bexley found she could literally ignite a flame and do major destruction. After finding Rebecca, and learning what she knew. They set up a meeting with her mate's family, and all the territory leaders and friends to determine what to do about the prophecy that concerned Bexley and her mates. Especially what to do about the vermin “Linan Clanguard he had destroyed her clan and what of her parents? Just as the meeting was to take place Linan Clanguard attacked with hundreds of wolf shifters under a flag with a sigil of a wolf, painted in black and red, by his actions he started a war! How will this war end? Who will be the victors? Will the prophecy come true!

Surge is the third book in The Storm Dragons' Mate series, and this book picks up where the last left off...a surprise appearance that had ties to Bex's past.
Of course, I was immediately drawn into this book and eager to find out what happens next, because things are getting interesting! Bex is going to be going through quite a few things in this installment, and it keeps the story interesting overall.
However, there are drawbacks. The storyline is rushed. While they are "realm" hopping we don't get much from it. It's literally going here, "discover" a memory and move on to the next in a quest to find someone from her past. I expected more. Is there some drama? Yes. Was it necessary? No, because it just was opportunity for the guys to flex. Not necessary at all. Sorry not sorry. Give us actually things are necessary to the storyline.
Still not a fan of the entitled attitudes from the guys, and not buying Bex's "I didn't know how much it cost" everytime it's revealed that she owns some ridiculously expensive item. Am I nitpicking? A bit. LOL! But it's a fact that continues to resurface. Because there is naive, and then just refusing to know.
The ending is okay, but it's a mixed bag of a cliffhanger. Doesn't have me on pins and needles, but I'm curious as to how it all ends.

Filler?

While there were good parts of this book, I was a little disappointed because it seemed like filler. Yes, they went places and things happened. Bexley has finally fully mated 2 of her guys. I'm not sure why the third relationship is still on hold with a partial mating. But overall, this book kind of dragged for me.

First, do you know how much time is spent describing Bexley's outfits? So much time is dedicated to it. We get it. She knows how to dress and her guys like it. I don't need to read about every outfit change, what it looks like, and how good she looks in it. Next, she seems to spend entirely too much time sleeping or passing out. She's 18 years old for pity sake! Why does she have less stamina than me (an over 50 woman)? We also seem to need to know about every single bath or shower that she takes. I'm not quite sure why we need to know about every one of them when it's not because any sexy times are happening. Finally, what is up with the stomach growling and needing to eat? I have no problem knowing that the characters had a meal. But this book spends too much time on her stomach growling and her guys needing to feed her.

I do love the plot and characters. I just think that this series could have ended in this book if we hadn't had all the filler.

This book is better than the last one. I got so bored with the last one that I nearly gave up. There was more going on with this one, so that helped, but there are still some things that just don't work with me.

First, all this has happened over the course of a couple weeks? Seriously, this could have been spread out a little more. Just 2-3 weeks is a little bit too compressed of a time frame given everything that has happened. Plus, I am not a huge fan of insta-love stories. I know that they have known each other since they were children, and they are mates, but at the same time... they haven't seen each other since they were children, too (except Gage). Everything just dropping into I-love-yous withing a few weeks is strange. That being said, they all have their I-love-yous, but they are still holding back from each other.

Second, it has been irritating me through these books, and it just keeps going. I don't care to know about every outfit she puts on for each occasion. It really doesn't matter how she accessorizes everything, and doesn't affect the story at all. It just makes her come across as more materialistic and vain.

I am going to finish this story with the next book. I am REALLY hoping that Bex matures a little more. She still comes across as a little girl, which is just off-putting.
Plus, I want the story of Rachel with Thomas and Fletcher!!

I went into this thinking this was the last book, but I’m so glad it’s not!

This book added so much to the story, so many questions were answered.
Bex has so much growth in this book. She starts to learn so much about her past, and instead of letting it overwhelm her and freak her out she takes off towards the truth head on. She never lets anyone look down on her or think less of her in any way. She gets stronger and stronger throughout the entire book. She pulls a lot from her mates, but really it’s just who she is deep down and she’s learning to embrace it.

The guys are all still amazing. They’re all so dang sweet. Their over protectiveness and obsessiveness with Bex is over the top cute. I love how their every move revolves around her, especially when she needs to rest and eat. The best part is they do it in a way that it doesn’t belittle her and push her aside and make her look weak, they do it to just show her how much they care about her well being.

This book really brings everything to a head, not only do we get answers but it also brings up more questions of why?! Why did he do what he did?! Why is he really trying all of this now?! The ending has me desperate for the next book and what’s going to transpire from it.

Overall it’s an easy light read ** NO SPOILERS **

Bexley and her mates get closer to finding answers about what actually happened the night her family was attacked.

This series is essentially a straightforward light RH read about university aged ‘shifter characters. The main characters are Dragons but there’s a host of other types of shifters (incl aquatic).

It’s a bit too formulaic and predictable for my tastes. Which is why I qualified it as light reading, if the FMC isn’t sleeping, bathing or being embarrassed about a rumbling stomach then she’s having sex. (Good for her, it’s kinda relevant to RH). I absolutely hate that she’s portrayed as a fragile flower, even though she’s supposedly stronger than everyone else. The morality tale focuses on bullying is bad.

There’s a very tenuous similarity to Norse legends in that the characters live in a series of different realms interconnected by portals one area for each race; so akin to the World Tree. That said it’s a shared world between different authors so the other authors may have a different take on everything. I’ve stuck with it this far so I’m going to finish the series on KU. I’m sure I’ve read other books by this author that were more engaging, I’m just not that enthused with this.

Surge is the 3rd and and what I thought would be the final book in the Storm Dragons Mate series and I was happily surprised when I reached the end and discovered there would be another book! The series includes so many of my favorite things: why choose, multiple POV’s and PNR. I’m in love with the Dark Imaginarium Academy universe and I honestly think this series has been my favorite! This book picked up right where Flicker left off, with Bexley finally realizing who killed her parents. Bexley (Bex) is such an amazing FMC, she’s so sweet (but not weak and naïve). She just keeps getting stronger and growing, but she doesn’t lose her pure spirit that I fell in love with in book one. Bex and her mates, Jagger, Gage and Breaker are all possessive and so protective, BUT they aren’t suffocating, which always drives me bananas. So much happens in this book with the travel to the other territories (and who all they get to meet) and a prophecy is introduced as well. And of course the book ends in a cliffie and I have zero ideas on what could happen! I’m not ready to let these characters go so I’m so glad that there will be a book four!

Super cute series with an adorable fmc who while could probably be annoying for some to read, I find her sweet and endearing.
Her mates never bully her and absolutely adore her. From the start. And tbh I always prefer that vibe in my RH books.

This author can be hit or miss for me. But I do like this series. It’s light fantasy romance reading.

The only thing I cannot stand is her obsession with constantly writing the fmc to nibble her lip, chew her lip or bite her lip.

Why do authors overuse those phrases? I get it describes a person being unsure or thinking but my g-d folks you are in a creative writing field, BE CREATIVE. It is lazy af to continue to use the same phrases over and over again. Girl is using her copy & paste function so much her keyboard is probably fading on those keys.

One chapter in one of these books, maybe book 2 had this phrase THREE FUCKING TIMES.

So I knocked a star off for being lazy. Where are her alpha readers? Her beta readers? It is an easy catch. Do they not see this?

Surge is the third book in The Storm Dragons Mate Series. This is a paranormal, reverse harem, academy, fated mates romance with intrigue, steam, and plenty of surprises.

I have been hard core in love with all of these characters and their story from the beginning. Bexley is such an awesome FMC, I absolutely adore her, and Gage, Breaker, and Jagger are simply incredible. I love their individuality and how possessive and defensive they are of Bexley. I also love how the relationships between Bexley and her guys have developed.

Bexley and her guys do a lot of traveling in this book, so we do get to meet some new characters. Bexley manages to bring forth some of her memories. The group is also able to unearth some of the answers they’ve been searching for. This was a fabulous continuation of their story.

The writing, characters, character development, storytelling, and flow are all fantastic, and the world building is vivid and stunning. I would definitely recommend this book and series and cannot wait to see how the story concludes in the next book.

This has been a wonderful continuation for The Storm Dragons' Mate series. The characters are so well done and the world building is just incredible!

We don't see too much of DIA in this book as most of it takes place outside of the campus grounds. We do get to venture into Sanguis (vampire land) and Natura (fae land) so that super exciting and so cute seeing the possessive side come from Bexley's mates. We also get a very steamy scene in Sanguis and it was just perfect!

Without giving too much away - there is definitely a big moment where we learn why Clanguard is such an a**hole and I'm surprised he's still living by the end of the book.

This one does leave us in a 'fun' cliffhanger and I'm a little upset that I have to wait for the next book but also super excited for when it comes out!

We do also get to see the Fae Prince's love interest and a Bex makes the girl a promise that has now bonded them together in a Fae Promise Pact thingy. It'll be interesting to see how this little detail is worked out in the end.

I have always admired M Sinclair's ability to capture my attention so quickly with her amazing writing, I always find myself so fully immersed in her stories that hours have passed before I know it! Surge was no different. Bexley has come a lot way in this book, she has learned so much and is processing so much and I felt that that was portrayed really well. Of course she is not alone, her over protective, growly mates are never far away from her! I loved that we got to visit different realms with Bex and her mates and that we got to see these places through her perspective! I thought that was really fun.
While the entire book had me hooked, the last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat! I have really enjoyed experiencing the world of DIA and all the series that are interconnected within it. It is such a unique creative way to meet new characters, see past series characters and see the world that's been created grow. As mentioned, the last few chapters had me chewing on my nails, I am so looking forward to seeing how Bex and her mates triumph in the next book!

Bex and her mates travel to different realms to discover the truth about Bex's memories and to find Rebecca, the person that has the answers to Bexley's questions. But finding Rebecca has them traveling to Sanguis, Dracula's territory, and the Fae realm, Natura. The appearance of Linan Clanguard, the man responsible for killing Bexley's parents, shows up at the meeting held at DIA at the end of book 2. Bexley is surprised and shocked to see him there. Her anger gets fueled by seeing him and her dragon knows he's the enemy.

With the help of her mates, Bexley, Gage, Jagger and Breaker travel via portal to find Rebecca. With so many questions needing answered, will Bexley finally find Rebecca and get some answers and the truth about her parents? Or will she just find a dead end and rely only on her memories that come and go in snippets? Her mates are always there for her and love her with all their heart. They will fight tooth and nail to protect her.

So if you have read Blitz and Flicker, don't stop there!! Read Surge! Can't wait for Flash!!

An unsatisfying end to an unsatisfying book. The big bad is just some wolf shifter, that was the obvious villain from the start. I thought maybe we might get a curveball and it was really the Bronzehearts, but no.

Ya know how some stories are 80% smut/ 20% plot and others are the reverse? This is like, both, at the same time, but in a bad way. The plot is smut level and the smut is ~YA so it’s just.bad.

So, this wolf shifter is the big bad? 🤦🏻‍♀ Tell me again how wolf shifters “in human form take out DRAGONS.

The ENTIRE premise of this story MAKES NO SENSE.
Okay, first of all. What is a “clan? Because according to this series, each “clan of story dragon families is a literal family of a mom, dad, and single offspring. UM??? Sorry y’all, but nothing about this is how genetics works, which also makes this an incest story. Or like, were there other dragons in the clan?? If yes, how did a bunch of UNSHIFTED shifters kill DRAGONS?!

I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed.
And also maybe a bit mad

Wow so we are continuing in with Bex’s story and we jump right in where book 2 left off. She recognizes who is responsible for hurting her family. We also get more details as we get further into this book and Bex gets to talk to the one person who was there and can give her more info. While she hunts this person down she gets to visit more worlds and really start to explore. Of course we see her building her relationship with her dragon mates Gage, Breaker and Jagger. One of the few books were I actually like all 3 of the guys but have a soft spot for Gage. The end of this book though has left me needing more. The truth bomb we get has me excited to see what happens in the next book. Over all great book and absolute would recommend someone to read it. It’s part of the shared world of DIA and I just love seeing other characters and worlds cross over and am kind of hoping at the end of the series we get one big ending seeing them all spending time together
