Alexandria or Alex, as she preferred to be called would one day be the next Queen of the United Kingdom. She would also be the first out lesbian who would take that title. Born before her younger, more accomplished brother, she’d always wondered if her parents would have preferred he’d been born first so that it would be him up next and she could fall to next-in-line after his children and never rule. When she first met the best friend of the Queen of Kleinland, she was smitten. Meeting her again and again at various events and gatherings had Alex more than smitten and wishing the woman would give her the time of day.
Bexley Woods earned her Ph. D in speech pathology and was asked by her best friend, now Queen of Kleinland, to bring speech therapy to the small country after the events of the two recent wars. Bexley moved temporarily, with the intention of building a program, and found herself with the future Queen of England there to help. Both inconvenient and interesting, Bexley wasn’t sure why the Princess was there. But, in time, she realized that the woman she thought Alex was couldn’t be further from the truth.
Finding time together and figuring out their feelings was easy when they were both in the same place at the same time. But with a domineering mother in the picture, who wanted what was best for her Princess daughter, and the need for Bexley to go home to care for a sick grandparent, the reality of their situation came to light sooner than both women would have preferred.

**'Overtime, certain writers free-fall with whatever idea hits into telling oblique, nonconform and intangible storylines that do end up being structured to evoke good tangible effects of prays, frequently of pathos from readers..'
4.5stars! rtc...this 4th book in the 'ROYALTY' series by Ms.Pyland was so much better than her previous book #3 where i think was flat and a bit rushed plus the chemistry was not there between Alice & Nora -- but for this storyline, she slowed everything down when it came to telling their (Alex & Bexley) story. Readers will notice that Pyland did let their relationship/friendship developed just building upto those special moments of romance, intimacy & Love. This book #4 completes the telling of this 'ROYALTY' story/series and is a thoroughly well written story that all interested reader should check out. I highly recommend this book along with the others!
This is the fourth book of the Royal series and it's a heartwarming romance that follows the journey of the last of the royal friend group - i.e. Alexandria, the next Queen of the United Kingdom. I've been curious about Alex since pretty early on in the series and especially after she showed interest in Bexley, the best friend of the Queen of Kleinland, in the third book, and I'm glad this book didn't disappoint.
I enjoyed this story completely. I loved it and I think fans of royalty romances would feel the same way. I love how well-written this story is particularly in the way Alex's crush on Bexley was depicted. It was incredibly sweet and endearing and I like how this wasn't dragged out nor dramatised. Alex and Bexley's chemistry amid the challenges of royal expectations and personal sacrifices also made the book a joy to read.
Romance aside, I like Alex's character as well and enjoyed her character development. I thought her desire and struggle to find a balance between her royal responsibilities and her personal life added depth to the story.
A wonderful story that I really enjoyed!
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 stars (I wish goodreads allowed 0.5 stars!!!) Alex has been introduced earlier the serie, she is always there to give her friends love advices. It was time she finds her own soulmate. Bexley was introduced in book three and Alex liked her immediatly, but she had a girlfriend at the time. The two have cross paths several times since, so there is already some kind of history when we start this book. Unlike the other books, there is no big drama that leads the royal to the throne this time so the focus is really on the relationship. Alex is so endearing : she is a bit clueless at first, patient, thoughtful, loving. She is really cautious about the life she is taking Bexley into and making sure Bexley is ready before taking any further step. The story is both really down to earth considering Alex’s status and passionate/spicy at the same time when the two finally give it a shot. I really liked how well they communicate with each other. It would not be a Royal series book if our dear characters didn’t make a trip to St Rais, allowing us to meet old friends. I think St Rais springs has a magical power to bring soulmates together. Palmer and Elizabeth from Ascending are basically cupids at this point, always providing advices and hospitality. Alice and Nora are really present too, which is logical because they are the reason Bexley and Alex are reunited in the same country; it was really nice to have a glimpse at their life together.
This is the last book of the Royal serie, it’s really sweet and low angst. It was my favorite and I am a bit sad it’s ending. Nicole Pyland could make a political serie so all the world is ruled by sapphic people and make the gay agenda goes worldwide.
Alex and Bexley’s story’s jumpstart was from the 3rd instalment so having them centre stage now is not a surprise but still a delight. I acknowledge that Awaiting didn’t have a big climactic event that shattered ceilings like Arriving. This book revolved mostly on Bexley’s practice and her budding romance with Alex. I think you can say I drank the Cool-aid because I just honestly enjoyed it despite not having the frills of an action packed rebellion, great tragedy in the family or crazy paparazzi. It was a simple romance novel that I enjoyed straight up. The spice was a nice change of pace too.
I'm sad to see this series end. Not one for royalty tropes, Nicole Pyland has me enthralled. I have read this series a few times, starting at the beginning with each new release. I enjoy the chemistry of the couples and the relationship of the secondary characters to the MCs. I love seeing the other characters from previous books. Awaiting is a great read that I couldn't put down and was thankful of getting the day off work to be able to finish in one setting. I look forward to more books by this author, and I know that I will be rereading this series again and again.
The fourth book of the Royalty series is a loving slow burn between Alex Princess of England and American Bexley. If you haven't read the first three books, do yourself a favor and read them. Alex knew that Bexley was the one when she first laid eyes on her. But she had to wait, because Bexley had a girlfriend. Then she didn't. This is an entertaining love story full of heart. 5 stars!
The final book in Nicole Pyland’s Royal Series, Awaiting, had me hooked from the first page. I was eager to read Alex and Bexley’s story when I got the first hint that they would have one in the last book.
Alex is the heir to the throne of the United Kingdom; the first openly out lesbian and has a bit of a reputation as a player. In reality, though, she wants to find love, only on her own terms, and not a woman of her mother’s choosing. She struggles to feel she deserves the role that she was born into but works hard to carry out responsibilities.
From the moment Alex met Bexley back in Arriving, Alice and Nora’s world, she knew that this was the woman she wanted. Only Bexley wasn’t single, so she stood back and waited. Now, with Bexley back in Kleinland to help her friends, Alice jumps at the chance to set her two best friends up.
Pyland’s writing style of witty, fast-paced dialogue and character-driven plots is on point in Awaiting. The story is relevant and could translate so easily into today's society, and wouldn’t it be great if it did!
Like all of Pyland’s books, Awaiting could be read out of order, or even alone, but the reader would be missing such a big chunk of the other characters lives and backstories, and this is what makes these series such a standout to me.
The fourth novel in Nicole Pyland's Royalty series, 'Awaiting' was by far one of her best stories!
The story follows Princess Alexandria of Great Britain, the heir to the throne of one of the most powerful monarchs in the world, who is hopelessly pinning after her friend Queen Alice's (royalty book 3) best friend. While Alex works up the courage to tell Bexley how she feels, she is also fighting an internal battle of not believing that she is worthy enough for her position, that her parents wish she'd been born second, and fending off the many suitors her mother tries to fix her up with. (Her mother who wants her married with children already lol).
Dr. Bexley Woods is the best friend of Queen Alice and has a minor friendship with Alex (at first). Bex has dedicated her life to helping those who struggle with speech problems - she is a selfless, simple country girl who just wants to be wanted by someone. Bex has always put everyone else before herself and cannot believe that Alex, a literal princess, could want someone like her.
The story could be described as a slow burn but it doesn't really feel that way - it feels more organic. Like the reader can really understand how and why Alex and Bex would fall in love with each other, and how difficult it would/could be for Bex (a regular, non- royal person) to struggle with the whole, 'becoming a Royal's and what that entails. Alex does a great job of being patient and transparent with Bex about everything.
I loved the way they supported each other, loved each other, and how everything worked out for them in the end. Out of all the couples in this series, Alex and Bex are my second favorite! Their book is one that I can definitely see myself recommending and reading again and again.
Awaiting is the fourth and final book in the Royalty Series by Nicole Pyland. This book was a low angst, opposites attract, romance that had me hooked from the opening flashback scene. Alex and Bexley's story is one I have been looking forward to reading.
The chemistry and progression of the relationship between Alex and Bexley felt very organic and not rushed. The pace of the story gave them both a chance to really get to know one another and see beyond any first impressions they may have had from when they met in the previous book.
I like how Bexley helps Alex to overcome her self-doubt and helps her to realise that her parents have never had any regrets about her being the first born and, therefore, the future monarch. In the same way Alex is just as supportive towards Bexley when she is struggling with the transition period of doing more admin and teaching then being with patients, and also having to deal with her aging grandmother and the struggles that accompany that.
Like books 2 and 3 in this series, this book has some scenes with the main couples from the previous books. I really appreciate that Nicole has done this as it allows the reader the chance to catch up on where life has taken the other couples. This book was a great finale to the series and is definitely tied as my favourite in the series.

So far in Nicole Pyland’s Royalty series, Bexley was most notably as the best friend of Alice, the accidental Queen in Arriving (book 3 in this series). In Awaiting, the fourth and final book in this series, Bexley’s achievements as a world-class speech pathologist are revealed and covered in fasicinating detail. I found the fleshing out of Bexley’s character to be one of the high points of this novel and it also set up one of the major conflicts. In the previous installments of the Royalty series, the principal characters have been surprise, accidental, or unknowing heirs to the monarchies of their countries. In Awaiting, Alex is the settled heir to the throne of England and her lesbian status has also been settled for many years. However, she has a large, long-term crush on Bexley, an American with an important career that is very important to her. Bexley doesn’t take her potential feelings for Alex seriously because Alex is the freaking heir to the throne of England. Alex keeps trying to bury her feelings for Bexley, first because Bexley is involved with someone else and then because she has her doubts that Bexley would want to uproot her entire life to become a royal. It is an interesting premise and Nicole Pyland does a wonderful job of plausibly resolving things so that these two women are able to end up together. I liked this installment of the Royalty series the best of all of them. Maybe you will too.
This is the fourth installment of Nicole Pyland's Royalty Series.
The is Princess Alexandria of Great Britain's story. Alex is the heir to the throne and has been in the spotlight her entire life. Alex is pining over Bexley, Queen Alice's best friend in . This book is Alex working up the courage to ask Bexley out and show her how she feels. I wouldn't categorize this as a slow burn, but it is constantly building. The mutual respect naturally leads to great chemistry!!
I really liked the pacing of this book. Alex is working through feeling like a disappointment to her parents and Bexley is feeling adrift professionally as her job has transitioned from working with patients to overseeing and teaching the speech therapists. Both mains are working on themselves and discovering who they want to share their life with.
This was a really fun royal falling for a commoner book and I enjoyed the ride. I am sad this series is coming to a close.
This is the 4th and final installment of the Royals series. This focuses on Princess Alex of the United Kingdom. Alex has this "playing the field" persona. Her mother, the Oueen, is trying really hard to play matchmaker, but Alex isn't interested. Ever since she met Alice's BFF, Bexley, she's been smitten.
BFF Queen Alice nudges both characters along. Bex doesn't feel she's good enough for a Princess, and Alex is worried she comes with so much pressure of the Monarchy. Alex was very open with Bex about her responsibilities and balance between personal and royal life. Very real and understandable concerns. I found myself rooting so hard for them!
I enjoyed Alice & Nora and the twins and Alice growing more comfortable in her role as Queen. We also get a brief look at Elizabeth & Palmer, and Elin & Ingrid lives.
This story comes as a slow burn and I really appreciated the patience and understanding the characters had with each other. I am still laughing at the toolbelt scene!
This series is one that can be re-read, or even as a stand alone. Reading the series in order gives the depth and understanding of the characters.
Nicole is an excellent writer! She's written so many different tropes, and does an excellent job bringing in the real emotions and life situations. Be sure to check out her other books. You won't be disappointed!
I have been looking forward to Alex’s story since the first book in the series. It was definitely worth the wait. I read this one slowly, almost savoring each word because it was so good and because it was the last.
I loved the character of Alex. She was always there - the reference for the others regarding life as a princess, specifically an out lesbian princess. Despite being royalty, she’s pretty relatable with her insecurities and romantic dreams. She loves Bexley deeply and truly wants the best for her. Their love story best illustrates the challenges of dating while being a royal and of dating a royal, especially the heir to the most well known monarch in he world.
Overall this is a good series bookended by books that I loved. I was skeptical about reading a series about princesses, but I was treated to a series of sweet love stories about women who faced challenges to find and accept love. The only weakness I found was there wasn’t more, another book to follow up on Alex’s story or more in the epilogue. We got a glimpse of more of the future for the other royal couples but this one ended too soon. I highly recommend reading this book. Read all 4 books in this series and read them in order.
The final book in the Royalty Series was everything I hoped it would be. I’ve been waiting on the edge of my seat for Alex’s story to be told. I went into reading the book knowing I would like it and was blown away. The character development that went into this book was spot on. I couldn’t believe I would like Alex even more than I already did, but I was wrong. (Another character to fight for my top spot in favorites) And let’s not leave out Bexley. After she gets rejected in Arriving, you feel for her. Then I find out she’s the one Alex is going to get her HEA with, was just icing on the cake. As with most Pyland book’s you get sucked in and find yourself not wanting to put the book down. I had this bittersweet feeling the further along I got in the book. I couldn’t wait to see how things played out, but was dreading the end. Not going to lie I really wanted more! Nicole, please change your mind and write a What Happened After to this series. Or just for this book. We kind of got the WHA for the other books through out the series, but this one needs one.
I’d recommend reading all the books in the series in order so you don’t miss out on a thing. But this is a must read book! Just click the button and start reading already!
Awaiting by Nicole Pyland is heart-warming opposites attract, secret crush contemporary romance. This is the fourth book in the Royalty series. A low angst novel that features queens from the previous books, adding a sense of familiarity which held me captive until the end.
Alex is in her 30’s, ex-military, and next in line to the UK throne. Her mother would like nothing better than to see Alex settle down and have children. Ever since meeting Queen Alice's best friend, Bexley Woods, Alex has held a secret crush. Bexley is from the USA and works in a job she loves. She has taken a sabbatical from work to assist Alice in setting up a speech therapy program in Kleinland. With a little prompting, Alex flies over to assist Bexley in any way she can.
There is incredible chemistry between Alex and Bexley which had me submerged in their world from the very start. I was quite unsure how Bexley would handle Alex, both from her reputation and status. The writing and world building guides you effortlessly through a well-paced romance.
I’ve been waiting for Alex’s story since she was first introduced in the series and even more so since Arriving when she told Alice of her interest in Bexley.
Alex, being the first out of the 4 royals featured in the series, took longer to find love but oh was it worth it. She gathered a reputation as a bit of a player, but that was far from the truth. Truthfully, she just wants a woman who wants her for her and understands and accepts the role that she will eventually have as Queen of England. Alex knew from the moment she saw Bex that she was the woman she wanted and waited until the right time to get to know her. Bex takes a bit longer to come to terms with the fact that Alex is her person but once she does, she’s all in.
Their story isn’t without some difficulty as Alex struggles with feelings of self doubt about the role she’ll eventually have. Bex struggles with leaving her ailing grandmother behind as well as losing some aspects of the career she loves. Pyland handles both of these perfectly.
This was a great end to the series and both this book (and the series as a whole) is one I would recommend anyone to read if they enjoy royalty romances!
Awaiting is the fourth and final instalment of Nicole Pyland's Royalty Series.
It follows Alexandria, who goes by Alex, the next in line to be Queen of the UK, and Bexley, a speech therapist in Kansas and best friend of Alice (Queen of Kleinland from Arriving).
While we had a hint at this pairing in Arriving (Book 3), the timing wasn't right. Alex had a crush on Bexley, but Bexley had a girlfriend.
Now, with Bexley newly single in Kleinland for work and helping out Alice and Nora, it's the perfect opportunity for Alex to come visit and spend time with Bexley.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching their friendship and slow burn romance develop. As always, Pyland's dialogue is so good, with the character's communication well thought out, caring and engaging.
Awaiting is the perfect finish to the Royal series. Can be read as a stand alone, but best read in order to get all the references and back story.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Awaiting is a beautifully written slow-burn, opposites attract romance. This is the fourth & final book in Nicole Pyland’s MUST-READ Royalty Series. Alex is the future Queen of the United Kingdom and is feeling the pressure from her parents to settle down. Her mother is helping to find her a suitable significant other much to her consternation. The only one who catches Alex’s eye (& heart) is Bexley Woods, an American speech therapist, who has also had her eye on Alex ever since they met years earlier through mutual friend Alice’s, Queen of Kleinland, coronation in Ascending (Book 1). Alex and Bexley are drawn to each other, and they have a sweet and heartfelt must read journey to love. The Royalty Series has become one of my favorite Nicole Pyland’s series. For me having the mystical and magical Northern Lights in each of these books are perfect symbolism of how these amazing couples find LOVE in each other. Love is truly mystical & magical, and Nicole writes these enthralling stories and captures these emotions for all of us to experience a happily ever after.
This is the final book in the Royalty series. This one follows the story of Princess Alexandria better known as Alex. She is soon to be Queen and while being an out lesbian already isn’t to be problem she still hasn’t found her partner. Bexley is an American whose best friend Alice learned that she was a Queen of Kleinland. So on a trip to visit her best friend in her new role she’s gets the opportunity to meet Princess Alex. The journey of these two women finding love is such an amazing story. My favorite couple of all the couples in this series which saids a lot if you’ve read all of them. This is such a great series and I’m so sad that it’s come to an end. I hope we get one more to see where the future takes all of them. I said this in one of my other reviews that I never really cared for stories about royalties but this series is so great. Nicole Pyland never disappoints. Looking forward to see what comes out next!
Nicole Pyland has done it again. Princess Alexandria has been “waiting in the wings throughout multiple books now. She had a brief crush on Alice at one point but the woman of her dreams was Dr. Bexley Woods, a long time friend of Alice. And Bexley? She didn’t even see the Princess, not as a woman she might date, at least.
And meanwhile, Alex’s mother is trying to hook her up with various duchesses and other nobility, just trying to get her married off before she takes the throne.
But Alice and Alex have a little scheme of their own, a scheme that brings Bexley to Alice’s little island kingdom and gives Alex one more chance to try to win Bexley’s heart.
And even if she does, can Alex handle her mother’s reaction when she learns Alex wants to marry an American? And can Bexley handle the pressure from Alex’s mom when she finds out?
I found Awaiting provided a very satisfying end to Nicole Pyland’s Royalty series. She’s done a great job, throughout all four books, describing the tension between royal life and normal life. While the first three books focus on lesser known countries and the unexpected rise to different thrones, Awaiting brings the reader to the UK.
The story unabashedly details a royal family in a country that everyone knows and follows. But in true Pyland style, she managed to bring something new to a tale as old as time.
Throughout the series we’re introduced to parents or countries desperate for the heir to marry and produce more heirs. ln this installment, I thoroughly enjoyed the Queen and her mettlesome ways and not so secret list. Pyland writes throughly enjoyable side characters, who always give me a chuckle.
As I've mentioned before, Nicole Pyland consistently ranks among my favorite authors, and "Awaiting" from the Royal series exemplifies all the reasons why. I'm absolutely enamored with this series. Pyland's writing style skillfully crafts relatable and authentic characters, leading readers on an emotional rollercoaster as we share in each character's experiences.
In true fashion for this author's series, I genuinely feel like these characters are part of my inner circle, and I become deeply invested in their journeys :). This book is a superb addition to the Royal series. Alex and Bexley are not only charming but also endearingly lovable, and it's crystal clear what draws them together. The entire series is a testament to Pyland's storytelling prowess, and this installment is no exception. It's amazing, just like the series as a whole.
I think this fourth installment in the Royalty series is perfect. The main characters, Alex and Bexley, are so well written and the buildup to their relationship is done so well, I didn’t want their story to end. I’m so happy with the way Nicole wrote this slow burn story. The way she shows the real Alex and not the one the media has created is wonderful. Bexley’s life coming together is a good storyline too. Figuring out if her ex is truly who she wants or if the Princess is her path forward was a good read. This story flowed so easily and kept me reading late into the night. The added plus of all the previous characters helping these two figure out their love story is an added bonus. I can recommend this book and I know you will enjoy reading it!
In my opinion the best was saved for last! I think this is the best book of the series! I mean I loved all the books but I would have to say, the best! I loved how Alex just knew Bex was the one and took her time and wait for Bex to realize Alex was the one. There was no pushing, Alex just let things happen. The patients that Alex had when waiting for the chance to show Bex how she felt was, amazing! And Bex not seeing the little signs was hilarious! And then they are together and the concern Alex shows about freaking Bex out is adorable! Not only that we get a little Alice and Nora, you can’t go wrong with that! Thank you Nicole Pyland for proving to me that Princess/Queen books aren’t bad, not bad at all!!!

Finally we get Alex’s story! I was so excited for the UK princess to get her HEA and it did not disappoint. Alex and Bex’s love story is so interesting because, although it is a slow burn, they both know something is going on but they take it slowly “knowingly. I mean, I yelled for them to kiss probably 100 times but it’s all part of the fun and was worth it. The spice in this book is on point, the dialogs are 🥵. However, for the first time with a book by Nicole Pyland, I feel like I needed more of an epilogue! I have high hopes that I will get the closure in her next book! Regardless, it was wonderful and I highly recommend it!

Awaiting is a lovely slow-burn romance. We finally get to read Princess Alexandria’s story and I absolutely loved it. Characters from the first three books make an appearance or two. So we get to learn about how Alice and Nora are doing from the third book. Along with characters from the previous books in the series, which is one of my favorite aspects of a Nicole Pyland book/series, the way that she keeps all characters connected throughout a series. Alex and Bexley’s story is full of fun, laughter, love, friendship, and steamy sexual tension. If you’re looking for a good weekend read with some wine or whatever your beverage of choice is this book will definitely do the trick.
The latest book in this series is just as good as the first. Don't get me wrong, this is a lesbian romance novel. I don't think it will ever be book of the year. What I do know, is that Nicole Poland takes pride in her craft. There are no stupid typos, misspellings, or other goofs, that wrench you back to reality. When I downloaded this book, I had just come back from a funeral. Halfway through this book I was rooting for the girl from Kansas. By the epilogue? I thinking - Alex! Enough already! Pop the question! This what a good romance is all about. And this is good one.
