The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent

Rate this book
This leading-edge book by Esther and Jerry Hicks, who present the teachings of the Non-Physical entity Abraham, is about having a deliberate intent for whatever you want in life, while at the same time balancing your energy living the Art of Allowing along the way. But it’s important to note that the awareness of the need to balance your energy is much more significant than goal-setting or focusing on ultimate desires. And it is from this very important distinction that this work has come forth.

As you come to understand and effectively practice the processes offered here, you will not only achieve your goals and desired outcomes more rapidly, but you’ll enjoy every single step along the path even before their manifestation. As such, you’ll find that the living of your life is an ongoing journey of joy, rather than a series of long dry spells between occasional moments of temporary satisfaction.

I love these collection of books because I find myself reading them over and over to absorb the message they so strongly bestow. It's about using our Now and moving away from past deceptions that lay deep within our psyche. This book expresses clearly how to use our emotions to guide us with love and harmony and become aware of the value within each and everyone of us.
The tools and techniques are repeated in this book as are the other books of Hicks, nevertheless, each are beneficial to move through the journey from limitation to belief and abundance. I certainly recommend this book.

There is no excuse for this one having been written, expect for those who just really needed more to read. If you are looking for a book that will help you delude yourself about the world around you, this will help. Though I recommend Ask and It is Given more for that effect, as it also gives you 22 processes to use to help you steadily change your beliefs around any subject that is bothering you, this one will help draw you into the metaphysical land of Abraham, the entities that Esther Hicks channels (or the nonphysical intelligence that Esther receives, as she would say). Abraham will steadily transform what you know as reality into your own personal playground. It will satisfy many of your psychological needs, almost like a drug of wishful thinking. The delight and ease you feel throughout may be intense and incredibly pleasing, but like a movie, just remind yourself, this is only a book. Prepare to enjoy a mental pornography of narcissism, validation, approval, immortality, and delusion.

It's so simple and so shaking at the same time. We're here just to enjoy ourselves and experience life? Really? I don't have to compare myself to others and feel inadequate or jealous, but can use my observations to help me figure out what I want and what I like and focus on that?? I don't have to beat myself up for not achieving whatever bar I let others set for me, but can just enjoy a life of doing and being and living with joy?? And when I do feel rotten, there are ways for me to feel a little bit better and a little bit better and a little bit better until I am feeling pretty darn fabulous?? Sign me up!

It makes sense: Your intention should support your desires along with what thoughts you have toward them. You must believe in you and have faith in causes and effect. There is really only one point made in the book in which I just described. The majority of the book is repeating the same thoughts. The point (make sure your thoughts and desires match your intent) does not need to take over 200 pages. The end of the book does show you examples of retraining your thoughts.I can appreciate that.

The sequel to . I did not read these Law of Attraction books in order when I originally went through them in 2020 - this was the last book I read. The first book I read was .
I read The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent for the second time in February 2023.

I have mixed feelings about this particular installment. I loved the opening sections (truly Amazing), but when it got to the middle section, the instruction became unnecessarily repetitive. The repetitiveness is not limited to this book - many of the processes explained in this book are repeated in a later book: . At the end of this book, there is a transcript of Abraham Live which I feel is more along the quality of the introductions.

I enjoyed Ask and It is Given and The Astonishing Power of Emotions more than this book - they are my two favorites in the Law of Attraction Library. My next favorites would be and Money and the Law of Attraction. Still, The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent has a powerful influence and the hardcover copy I own is beautifully presented.

Favorite Passage from Foreword by Louise Hay:

In this mystery called life, we're continually searching for answers. We've always wanted to take control of our lives, but we haven't known how. We've always wanted to alleviate our fears - from the smallest, most intimate ones we have about our bodies and close relationships; to the larger fears we have about death, our government, and the world . . . and even those we may have about life on other planets.
This most comforting book takes care of all that.

Favorite Passages from Preface by Jerry Hicks:

Both Esther and I wanted the wisdom that Abraham was so willing to offer us, but were both apprehensive as to how something as seemingly strange as this phenomenon would fit into our already well-established business procedures and perspectives. For me, my business principles had to be learnable/ teachable. My often stated intent was that each person whom I touched would be either elevated, or would remain basically where they were when I met them, and it was my intention (and it still is) that no one would ever be diminished as a result of coming into contact with me.
_______

As the years passed, and as the asking of thousands upon thousands of people continued to evoke Abraham's answers through Esther, her body began to physically relax. First, her eyes opened, then her hands and arms began to gesture; and then a few years later, her body progressed from sitting to standing (braced by a chair or lectern) to moving gracefully from place to place.
Concurrently, with the relaxing of Esther's body, came the relaxing of her voice. If you were to hear one of our earlier recordings, you would distinguish what you might describe as a foreign accent of some unknown origin. But today, after nearly 20 years of relaxing into speaking for Abraham, the voice you would hear would not sound very different from Esther's.
______

So, if we're not here to fix something or to get something done, how can we know if our life on Earth has been a success? Abraham teaches us that success is not measured by the physical things we accomplish or the stuff we gather. They tell us that our success is measured by the degree of joy we're experiencing during our journey through this life.

Favorite Passages from An Introduction to Abraham by Esther Hicks:
They told me, in the beginning of my receiving them, that I was a particularly good translator for them because I didn't have strong biases or opinions that would make it difficult for me to receive them clearly. They said that it wasn't so much that I hadn't made up my mind about anything, as it was that I wasn't pushing hard against anything. I was, for the most part, just taking life as it came, and I was in a particularly good vibrational place when I made my first contact with Abraham.
_______

When I look at the wonderful way we're living, see the amazing results we're experiencing in every area of our lives, feel the security that comes from understanding that we do create our own reality, and feel the satisfaction of having created such a wonderful reality, I want everyone to come to know what we've already discovered.

Favorite Passages from The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent:

A New Way of Looking at Life
Contrary to what many of our physical friends believe, life on planet Earth is at its all-time best . . . and getting better! This powerful and accurate statement is not only based on our observation of the intricate details of life on Earth, but also on our knowledge of the powerful Laws of the Universe and our understanding that all things are eternally expanding and improving.
People often complain about modern life, stating that it lacks something they remember enjoying in earlier times, and they long to return to those eras or conditions. But we never look to the past for better times, for we understand that what is happening now and what is coming next will always contain the best that life has to offer.
_________

You Are a Powerful Leading-Edge Creator
You are on the Leading Edge of thought, experience, and expansion. You are certainly not alone in this, for all that has come before you is aware of where you are, what you are doing, and what you are asking for. The Non-Physical aspect of this Leading-Edge you is experiencing the expansion, also, reveling in the new ideas, and joyously joining you as you continue to move into your powerful future.
_________

Life on Planet Earth Continues to Get Better
Each generation living on your planet benefits from the life experiences of previous generations. We suppose that this statement seems obvious to most who would read it; however, it is a much more powerful statement than most would understand at first glance.
When you contemplate the statement from your awareness of the Law of Attraction (that which is like unto itself is drawn), and when you remember that everything that exists in your physical time-space reality exists because of a focused asking from this time-space reality, you begin to get a sense of the importance of all who have been focused, all who have lived contrast, and all who have been asking - asking for answers to questions; resolutions to problems; improvements to situations, and fulfillment to desires.
This living of the contrast, which causes a focusing of desire, calls forth the Creative Energy of the Universe, and is, in fact, what causes all Life to evolve. It would be accurate to say that this living of contrast equals the asking or desire that summons the Energy that is Life.
_________

So, focusing intentionally is deliberate creation, and there is great satisfaction in deliberately creating pleasing outcomes. . . .It is satisfying to have control over all the physical trappings of one's one life experience . . .
_________

Future generations will benefit form the desires that are now emanating from you and from their subsequent attraction power - but it is our desire that you receive the benefit of them, too. Right here, right now!
________

As you consider any idea, you activate a vibration about it, and the Law of Attraction then offers you other ideas that have the same vibrational frequency. As you continue to ponder the subject, more thoughts that match those thoughts come to you; and as the activation of this idea continues, it becomes stronger, and the attraction power of the idea increases. In time, things will begin to occur in your life experience that match those ideas. Usually at that point, you call the experience factual or truthful. . . . But instead of calling it truth or fact, we call it creation; we call it the natural Universal response to your consistently activated vibration . . .
________

No desire, no matter what the subject, can manifest into your experience as long as there is a vibrational difference between the desire and your practiced vibration. You have to practice yourself into vibrational alignment with your desires before they will be realized in your experience.
That's the reason that we refer to your emotions as your Emotional Guidance System, for they help you recognize the relationship between the vibration of your desire and the vibration of your offering.
________

If your life experience has caused you to come to the point where you really want something, and in any given moment, you are focused upon the opposite of that desire, you will feel strong negative emotion. But if your desire is strong and your current thoughts are in vibrational alignment with that desire, then you will feel strong positive emotion. Your emotions are accurate indicators of the vibrational relativity between where you want to be and where you are right now, and your Emotional Guidance System is always accurate and available to you at all times. It is a very good system, indeed.
________

Why would you want to accept or "face a reality" that is not pleasing when you can create a reality that is pleasing?
________

For any desire to be realized by you, or before anything can manifest in your life experience, there must be vibrational compatibility between your desires and your beliefs.
________

Emotional Guidance Scale
The thing that matters most is that you consciously reach for a feeling that is improved. The word for the feeling is not important.
_______

Continually Reach for Relief from Resistance
A rather effective way of balancing your Energy is to continually reach for feelings of relief. A feeling of relief always indicates an improvement in your vibration, and it always means a releasing of resistance, or an increasing of allowing - and if we were standing in your physical shoes, we would make the relief factor the most important part of our personal awareness.
. . . .
Your own resistance is the only factor that keeps you from realizing all of the wonderful things that you desire.
________

It is an exciting day when you come into conscious awareness of the amazing power of your intentions.
________

There is nothing more important for you, or more satisfying, than to come into deliberate alignment with your Source. To not only recognize the Energy of your Source, but to deliberately align with it, is the ultimate experience of bliss. This is the true meaning of balancing of energy, and it is the most important part of your life experience.
When you are in vibrational alignment with your Source, whatever you are focused on is receiving the focus of the Energy Stream that creates worlds. The power of that alignment cannot be adequately expressed in words, but you can feel it. You feel it in your joy, love, exuberance, and passion.
_______

There is no end to your journey. You will never reach the place where you want to isolate yourself from the contrasting experience that causes you to focus. What you are looking for (ah, and thank you for helping us say it) is creative control of your own focus. We do not want your government to have to stop doing what it is doing so that you can feel good. We want you to train yourself to feel good, no matter what. We do not want people to treat you nicely and not hurt your feelings so that you can feel good; we want your feelings to be unhurtable. We want you to be so aware that you can change the way you feel - just by wanting to and by focusing - that you are now no longer fearful about what is going on out there in the world.
You are not afraid of dying; you are in love with living. You are not worried about people doing things that displease you. You are in creative control of your vibration, and therefore, you are in creative control of everything that happens to you.
________

The world is full of people who have opinions that are different from yours. And you just have to finally make up your mind that you are not the only one with an opinion. Everybody gets to have opinions, and everybody gets to put bumper stickers on their car, and everybody gets to live and feel as they want to feel. It is your job to find your way of feeling good within it; it is not their job to make bumper stickers that please you.
_________

It would be like meeting someone who was born clear-minded and healthy, but that person is born into a community where most everybody limps, for whatever reason. And then their making fun of they way he walks because he is not yet limping. And him saying, "Hey, I know you're all limping and seem to be liking it, but I don't feel like limping and don't seem to need to." And they all say, "Limping is what we do here. Learn to limp!" And he says, "I don't feel like limping." So they just club him in the knee. (Fun!) And then he limps along. And then they all say, "Good. Good Joseph." We are not exaggerating that! That is a perfect, perfect analogy, you see.
What he is saying to all of you is, "I don't feel like limping." Do not worry about him, and do not worry about what the teachers think about him.
_________

. . . action is the joyous way you live your life experience. We are not guiding you away from action.
Someone implied that there is a difference between the physical world of action, physical manifestation, and that which is Spiritual. And we want to say to you that everything that is in your environment is an extension of Source - everything is Spiritual.
_________

There is never a crowd on the Leading Edge. But that does not mean that where everybody else is, is not just fine. Do not beat up on yourself for not being up here in joy all the time. Make peace with where you are, and then it can get better.
_________

Guest: What would you call that? If I didn't call that responsibility, what would you call that?
Abraham: Teaching through the clarity of my example. We would call it compassionate acknowledgement of the power of everyone. We would call it alignment with who I am so that I see the beauty and the power in everyone I focus upon. We would call it alignment with Source and understanding of individual power. We would call it belief in your ability to achieve anything you want to achieve. We would call it the power to see your value, even when you do not. We would call it the power to know your wellness, even if you are sick. We would call it the power to know your prosperity, even when you cannot pay your bills. We would call it the power to think about you in the way that feels best to me so that I can connect with Source and flood who you are through my vantage point. We would call it the most responsible, compassionate utilization of Source Energy that exists anywhere in the Universe.
________

There are so many rules and so many mind-sets of the way you should behave, so many people ready to stand and judge you as inappropriate if you do not jump through their hoops in the way they think that they need you to so they can feel better . . . So many people have gotten so separated form their own sense of Well-Being.
________

. . . we can sit here today and continue the struggle the rest of your physical life, or we can say, Let's make peace with it.
________

This is an evolving, expanding Universe. This is not a Universe where somebody has it all figured out, where here isa group of angels in heaven who have figured out the perfect life, and then they say, "Go forth little ones and just live as we've been living." It is not that way. There must be expansion in order for there to continue to be existence.
And so, with expansion comes contrast, and with contrast comes discernment; with contrast comes the ability to speculate, to mold, to anticipate.
________

- as long as you are blaming anyone or anything for anything, you are disempowered. Because that says that they have power over me. And no one does, because no one can vibrate for you.
_______

We want to say to you that we are all making too much of this . . . that life is supposed to be fun, and that the basis of your life is freedom . . . and that expansion is inevitable . . . and that you are utterly worthy Beings. If you could relax and pet your cat and dangle your feet in the stream and find things that please you and focus upon them . . . and spend time with the people who make you feel best and read the books that make you feel best and go to the movies that make you feel best and take the drives that make you feel best and think of the aspects of those you work with who make you feel best . . . and think of your parents in the way that makes you feel best and make lists of things that you like that make you feel best and wear the clothing that makes you feel best and eat the food that makes you feel best and do the things that make you feel best and think the thoughts that make you feel best . . . hmm, you would feel pretty good.
Life would then begin treating you in the way that you deserve. But when you believe that you are here to overcome struggle, and when you believe that you have things that you have to achieve, and when you believe that you are unworthy and you have to prove worthiness, and when you believe that you are in competition for resources - then you get all distorted and out of sync with who-you-really-are.
________

. . . play down the drama and the trauma of everything everywhere you can.
________

There is great love here for you, and for now, we are complete.

My friend KT added the book to her to-read list and its concept seemed to compliment other self-help books I’ve found useful lately, which show that one way to improve your life is to “trick your subconscious mind into believing that your life is better already. Convincing the subconscious that circumstances are good can bring improvement in those circumstances. Improving your emotions and thoughts improves your life. What makes this book different is that it offers actual techniques for getting happy and staying happy even when current life events are discouraging and not what you want. The premise of all of these sorts of books is that you must focus on what you want, not what you don’t want.

Esther and Jerry Hicks set the stage with the ideas that we create our own reality with our beliefs and emotions, that we “vibrate at a frequency that attracts events reflecting our beliefs, and that we can “raise our vibration to attract better experiences. Next there are chapters on our bodies, homes, relationships, work, money, world, and government. Examples of common negative beliefs are given in each area. An “emotional guidance scale, with 17 steps from powerless to powerful is used as a tool, the idea being to move up the scale.

Next are chapters on techniques for moving up the scale. The techniques are described, and the negative beliefs from previous chapters are used to demonstrate their use. In “segment-intending, the subject looks forward to the next segment of her life, imagining what it will be like when the obstacle is gone. In another, instead of feeling bad because the subject doesn’t have what she want, she thinks “wouldn’t it be nice if the thing she wants comes to pass. This gives the desire more light-heartedness instead of discouragement. In “turning-it-over-to-the-manager, the subject turns her problem over to a manager, either her subconscious or the law of attraction, asking that the problem be solved, and thanking the manager for helping. The “focus-wheel technique is my favorite because it involves making a wheel-like diagram and writing an encouraging statement on each spoke of the wheel, then heartily circling your intention in the middle. The “book-of-positive-aspects has the subject writing or saying good things about the current situation. There are also techniques that are specific to healing the body and getting out of debt.

This book was supposedly channeled from an entity called Abraham. He answers some questions from audiences in the last chapter. While I don’t necessarily believe in channeling (nor do I disbelieve), or that unembodied beings know more than we do, I did find some of these techniques useful, regardless of their source. If you’re into self-help, it is well worth perusing the book and experimenting with techniques that appeal to you.

“So, this leading edge book is really about understanding the importance of having a deliberate intent for an end result, while at the same time, tending to the balance of your Energy along the way. But it is much more about awareness of the balance of your Energy than it is about goal-setting or focusing on end results. And it is from this very important distinction that this book, The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent, has come forth.

“Your emotions, in every moment, give you an indication of the vibrational relationship between the Non-Physical You and the physical you. Nothing is more important to you than this relationship, and nothing can enhance your physical experience more than an understanding of your emotions.

~ Esther and Jerry Hicks from The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent

Esther and Jerry Hicks. Love ‘em.

This is the third Review I’ve written on their work (check out the first two: Ask and It Is Given and Money, and the Law of Attraction for more mojo). I’m absolutely in love with them and the clarity with which they express their wisdom.

(I might still be a little freaked out by the whole “channeling thing, but O.M.G. They rock. Remarkably lucid and equally transformative! :)

Here are some of the Big Ideas:

1. Life on Planet Earth - Rocks!
2. Desires & Beliefs: - Compatibility?
3. Deliberate Creation - vs. Creating by default.
4. Emotional Guidance - You & YOU.
5. Correcting Course: - The sooner the better.

Ah Are YOU willing to play at the Leading Edge of creation and dance with your creative genius?!?

If I was asked to summarize this entire book, I would boil it down to Esther's line "Reach for the thoughts that feel better."

I listened to the audio book version of this and Jerry's delivery is awful. His reading is so flat and dragging. I prefer to view video tapes of the Abraham workshops because Esther is so funny and dynamic whenever the consciousness called Abraham is... should I say, upon her? In her, with her? The best part of this was the last section when he was reading the transcripts from a workshop. I could hear the playfulness behind his words rather than just the cut and dry techniques. Try this, try that, keep trying. I kept skipping ahead because I was over it. The ideas in here can be very repetitive and in that way it was much like other works by the Hicks.

My advice would be to borrow the media from the library. That way, you can experience the wisdom of Abraham and not drain your pocketbook or exhaust your patience with the material. Didn't connect with the latest offering from the Hicks? Take it back. No harm, no foul. But, if you do find one of their various books, CDs, videotapes that changes your life perspective and energizes you, then buy it after you know what it contains. I think folks feel duped when they buy book after book expecting to find the perfectly tailored answer to their problems, but still having the same issues. Reach for the thoughts that feel better and, be smart, utilize the extensive resources of your public library. :)

I love Jerry and Esther Hicks. I am listening to this on CD and Jerry himself reads it. Esther channels several entities that call themselves Abraham. This is a follow up book to "Ask and it is Given" which had a profound positive impact on my life.

The basic premise is that this life is supposed to be joyous and we can create our own reality. If we are feeling negative emotion about any situation, it is an indication that we are not in alignment with our true self and therefore cannot manifest what we want. That is where the title "Living the Art of Allowing" come from. We need to learn how to align ourselves with our true source and then we will feel good. From that place, we can put out into the universe a request for what we want and that request will be answered.

It is very important that our beliefs align themselves with our desires. For example, we cannot manifest a great work environment if we believe that everyone who works at our place of employment is awful. We have to believe that it is possible to have a great work environment and focus on what we like about our work environment to make our desires come true.

Sometimes the examples can get a bit tedious, but overall it is an excellent reminder about the power we have to create our own reality.

This second part to the "Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent" series is really wonderful.

My favorite parts are:

1. The exercise where you put $100.00 in your wallet and "pretend" to buy something by visualizing it in your mind to change your relationship with money.

2. The "becoming free of debt" exercise where you go through all your debts and write them down. That was very enlightening for us to do that. Then, you keep track on Excel or a ledger and start paying off the smallest debt first. This transforms your relationship with your debt.

3. I love the "joie de vivre" that emanates from this CD series. The general love of life and joy in life is inspiring.
The closing statement at the very end by Abraham is another favorite part. My favorite quote from that section is "Why in the world am I making such a big hairy deal out of something that doesn't mean diddly squat?"

This is an outstanding addition to the Abraham-Hicks repertoire. In this book, the Hicks' drill down further on the Art of Allowing by explaining how their concept (deliberate intent) differs from the standard concept of "allowing" (tolerating).

The book contains an outstanding series of exercises and examples to help readers understand how the process works.

I have mentioned before in my reviews of the Hicks' work that some people may think of this as kind of "woo-woo" stuff. I am something of a skeptic myself, but have discovered that these processes work when you apply them.

Well worth reading if you want to see your life improve when your thought processes change for the better.

This book is about mind expansion on a spiritual level, very New Age, and I wanted to like it. I didn't like, however, and I think the problem (for me) was the way it's written. It's not very "user friendly" and I suspect you need to read the authors' previous books to tune in to their vocabulary and methods. In the forward Jerry Hicks explains that the book contains words used in a way we don't normally use them, and that may be where I had my problems. It's not a bad book and it made several fascinating points, but it was an awkward read.

Anyone interested in the law of attraction should read this book until they know it by heart, and can make it their own inner philosophy. It's one of those books that, together with a handful of similar books, can help people improve their sitations, if they want to. Dynamic principles, that go well with other philosophies.

Pretty interesting read, kind of serendipitous how I read it alongside and came into my path the same time as "The Power of Intention" both were saying basically the same thing in some somewhat different ways, but very powerful, moving stuff.

This was not bad - just an expansion of the first part of this book which was entitled "Ask and its Given" - so kinda repetitive but it did help me understand more about that first book - which at the beginning and from their earlier teachings of their work I did not appreciate or agree with as much - but I do get them more now and see the value

This book focused more on the various thought and emotional processes one can utilise to get you in the right vibrational alignment and keep you there to aid you in getting what you want ...some I found useful but some I just could get myself doing...so for example...

..."which thought feels better process" was ok and I got it - but again a tad bit delusional (nevertheless better than negative thoughts/thinking anyway) - but dangerously could lead one to not tackle a real issue -

Like if one was in a toxic relationship - you may really need to get out of it whether that be on businesses, love or family matter - no point exchanging you ideas or emotions for "better delusional ones" just because they sound or feel better - gotta get real and that's where this new age spiritual stuff can be irritating as opposed to liberating

but no doubt I do see the value (and even need) for self help education and how it can help to put you in the correct vibrational alignment which can help feel us to our goals and get our desires ( like the teachings of so called "Abraham" like or in these authors book)

They make sense yet am not totally sold on the idea of "Abraham" being channeled through the author Esther Hicks ... Hmmm...

Anyway ...

To Our Continued Success!
Seemy

MOTIVATIONAL - PERSONAL GROWTH:

'caution, this is 'out there'

If you can get over the disbelief about "Abraham"...
you will find incredible wisdom in this and all books by Hicks.

If Abraham does not exist...Esther is the smartest woman on the planet.

The worldwide phenomena of "the secret' in 2006 espousing the ' Law of attraction' is really - in my view - based on Esther and Jerry Hicks work.

I read them 15 years ago and met them 6 years ago. I wasted a lot of years of not being able to deal with ' Abraham'

Now I just bask in the whimsical wisdom...

and yes I am a fan...even get monthly cds...

I enjoyed the read, and many of the principles will be helpful to me. Im a hands on person, so did appreciate the exercises. Like some others here, the material did feel repetitive. Im assuming that's purposefully done. Science has shown that it takes approximately 30 days of repetition to form a habit. Its also the standard way we here in America seem to be taught. For myself, Ive heard, read, and seen so many negative items, that I cant see anything but a benefit to repetitive positive messages.

This book explores the idea that whatever it is we think and feel is what we create in our lives. It's inspiring and powerful. When you think negative thoughts and doubt yourself, you block the flow of receiving what you want in your life. However, when you can harness the ability to think positive thoughts and put yourself into vibrational alignment with your desires, you can speed up the process of receiving your heart's desires.

Worth the read! Something to think about.

I read this book years ago. Since then I've read The Secret and The New Earth. This book is far more practical. Basically it discusses the power of positive thinking. Nothing new of course but explained clearly with exercises. From my own pursuits of how to live a better life, gratitude and forgiveness reigns supreme. Not always easy but life, love and light affirming.

I find this book to be a great reminder of how to stay focused on creating a positive life and how to deal with the challenging times.
It is explained so simply that it resonates with a truth deep inside as you read it. An uplifting book that inspires and redirects you on your path.NB Warning= Best reading for open minded persons only. :-)

I do not know... I found Esther and Jerry quite pretentious and one of those positive thinkers and group-pshychiatrist I would never wanna talk to... there were several times when I wanted to stop reading. something got me going. and I guess it did reprogram my mind a bit. who knows. decide for yourself.

This was an interesting book_BUT_I found it very "Cult-Like".I started to remember James "Jim" Jones and the Kool-Aide drinking, etc.I think the concept of Abraham did it for me.I finished it_but had to say, what did I just read?

The book had some good points but would have been much better without the Cult-Like qualities.

What's great about the teachings of Abraham, as translated by Esther hicks, is that it presents a reasonable form of positive thinking. It isn't just "fake it 'til ya make it", and force yourself to be happy all the time. It's about talking yourself up the emotional scale, and using your emotions as your guidance system to help point you in the directions you want to go in life.

This is a great book that takes off where The Secret left off. It comes full of great techniques to help you in your journey to whatever it is that you may need.

At times the books seems as little repetitive but that is the point of the book.

Hicks follows on understanding desire, and our intent with speaking and voicing ourselves through situations that seem to bring misunderstanding.Overall, a very useful book and definitely worth the read

Very repetitious , I thought it would be more in-depth but it just repeats exercises over and over . General message good though .
