Nerdy, introverted genius lepidopterist, Lawson Gale, is an expert on butterflies. He finds himself in a small town in Tasmania on a quest from an old professor to find an elusive species that may or may not even exist.

Local Parks and Wildlife officer, Jack Brighton, is an ordinary guy who loves his life in the sleepy town of Scottsdale. Along with his Border collie dog, Rosemary, his job, and good friends, he has enough to keep from being lonely.

But then he meets Lawson, and he knows he’s met someone special. There’s more to catching butterflies, Jack realises. Sometimes the most elusive creatures wear bow ties, and sometimes they can’t be caught at all.

Lawson soon learns there are butterflies he can’t learn about it in books. They exist only in a touch, in a kiss, in a smile. He just has to let go first, so these butterflies can fly.

Imago is the story of finding love, bow ties, and butterflies.

This book is a breath of fresh air, a rainbow on a sunny day. Forget angst and pain. Forget drama. This is a feel-good story all the way.

Lawson is an easily flustered lepidopterist (butterfly expert) who makes bowties look sexy. He's visiting Tasmania from Melbourne on a sort of work study to look for a species of butterfly that a retired professor swears exists (but that no one else has actually seen). Lawson is nothing if not dedicated and isn't afraid to take a stand against the mainstream lepidopterist (this is my new favorite word!) community.

Jack is a Ranger who works for Parks and Wildlife. He offers a stranded Lawson a ride from the airport, and the rest is flirting, perfect dates, and long, lingering kisses.

Lawson is a little prickly and awkward, but Jack is all honey and tenderness. The men spend a lovely week together, until a bush fire threatens to destroy everything for which Lawson has worked.

Honorable mentions go to Jack's friend Remmy, who provides amazing pastries that win over Lawson's heart (with a little help from Jack, of course), and Rosemary the dog (who was given a proper role in the story).

Jack and Lawson share a few sexy moments, but the steam is fairly subdued (more sensual than dirty). The book ends on a strong HFN. Jack and Lawson's story isn't over, not by a long shot.

I want to add that I have read Julie Bozza's The Butterfly Hunter and besides featuring a lepidopterist, the two books are nothing alike. Dozens and dozens of books have cowboys as MCs, and no one bitches about that. Mostly, I wish people would just READ THE BOOK before making accusations and blanket statements.

I loved this quiet story and am looking forward to reading more about Jack & Lawson.

5 Stars......Just Adorable.

I swear no one writes a sweet/sexy MM romance quite like .I was practically swooning throughout this book.

Lawson Gale is a butterfly expert,it's his passion.Nerdy, sassy and definitely unique he's come to Tasmania at the request of an old professor to try and find an elusive butterfly which the professor has been searching for,for decades.

Jack Brighton is a local Parks and Wildlife officer. He's lived in Scottsdale for years,a small, quiet sleepy town where everyone is on first name terms. He's content with his life,he loves his job and has his faithful dog Rosemary for company. But his world is about to be rocked in the most delicious way when he meets Lawson. With his local knowledge of the area Jack offers to help Lawson track down the mysterious Eltham Copper butterfly.

I can't stress enough how adorable these two men are together. They give each other flowers on dates,

They have a picnic in the garden with sandwiches cut into triangles, they change into their PJ's to have dinner!! Don't worry, though there are some sexy times and Lawson has a bit of a dirty mouth on him when he gets going.

This book is a little gem and I would definitely recommend it.

I looked at Lawson then, at his face, at the look of wonder and amazement in his eyes, and what he saw in the butterfly, I saw in him.
Lawson Gale, imago.

Shoutout to N.R. Walker for being my saving grace when I’m in desperate need of something to read. I don’t think she’ll ever know this, but I’ll say it anyway. I am always in awe of this authors diverse writing and her ability to craft different characters, personalities, settings, plots, and situations. My love for Walker only continues growing with each book I read from her.

Imago was no different than previous books, with it being a very light hearted read with nothing but love and joy filling it up. We have Lawson, who is a nerdy, introverted genius lepidopterist on a mission to discover a species believed to not exist, and Jack, a park officer who’d rather stay home with his border collie dog. The two meet after unfortunate circumstances Lawson is in, but luckily for them, it places them in a moment of small talk and potential future dates.

“No one’s ever understood that part of me. Not outside of my work, anyway.
A warmth expanded in my chest at his words. “Then no one’s ever paid close enough attention.
“No, he answered quietly. “I guess they haven’t.

The story is sweet over everything. It has zero drama and angst, and follows a traditional timeline and style of previous Walker books. Our two men develop feelings pretty early on on-page, but we are treated to a mild, delicious slow burn full of cute dates, new knowledge on faun and flora, and adorable border collie named Rosemary, a cute four-year-old whose parents are chefs, and love and support from around the small town of Tasmania, Australia. I always love learning new facts from this author about Australia, especially because she’s an Aussie author herself. Sometimes it feels like I’m exploring the country myself with her descriptions of the places.

Once again, I found myself absolutely loving the two main characters. I have a weak spot for opposites like Lawson and Jack—the nerdy introvert who gets easily flustered and is secretly naughty and the more outgoing, social butterfly like Jack who is known by everyone and brings kindness to them all. Their dynamics are different but their relationship is lovely. It develops somewhat slow, but also fairly quickly. There’s some steamy moments between the two and, like I said, Lawson gets a little naughty. Regardless, the relationship focuses a lot on its emotional aspect. The two go on many dates, before and after becoming exclusive, which I thoroughly appreciated. Jack was such a romantic. It was quite refreshing, especially because the whole “dating didn’t end after the two became an official couple. This happens too often in a lot of romance books, which annoys me greatly, so I was really happy when Lawson and Jack continued their dates and wooings. Their moments are tender and precious, full of sweet things said and done. There’s a softness between the two that I’ve come to realize is usually only seen in Walker’s books. The two characters couldn’t be more perfect for each other, and their communication, love, and dedication only grows as time passes. They’re adorable and full of love. Their love is squishy and cute.

He reached over and took my hand, lifting it so he could kiss my knuckles. “Do me a favour?
“What’s that?
“Don’t ever change.

Four stars—because I had a smile on my face the whole time. Because I enjoyed every moment spent with Lawson and Jack, individually and together. Because I wanted more after it ended and was delighted to know there was a sequel. Because this love is beautiful.

“Jack, what I perceive of you, and how I’ve conducted myself in your company is with full mental cohesion. His cheeks stained with colour. “And Einstein would have you believe that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. He bit his lip and laughed at himself, I think. “But I don’t want different results. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Oh, this book! It was like holding a butterfly in your hand and being enchanted by it!

As my closest friends know, I love all things nature, so coming across a story with butterflies in it was in itself wonderful to me. To then see that it has been written by N.R. Walker amped up my excitement even more, and to then read the blurb to find two of the most intriguing characters mentioned just sold it to me to be read immediately.

I loved Jack and Lawson. Lawson's genius quirkiness and geekiness was simply adorable. Jack's gentle heart and loving nature was a dream to read about. They both ticked every checkbox I have for lovely AND loveable characters.

The story, despite being short, packed a deadly punch. I was so engrossed right from the beginning. Having a super busy and super tired week really made me feel so upset that I couldn't finish it in one sitting, which I really wanted to do. But I never once lost the link to it, the exact place where the story was at staying on my mind until I next got a chance to pick it up.

Even though we don't get to see or read about butterflies all that much, what all I did get was amazing. I was soaking it all up like a sponge soaks water. ;P

The dates that Jack organized were so...swoon-worthy, really. So touching, so loving.

The entire book is like eating a gallon of sweet ice cream. And I think the short length made it easy for us to just relish it and not go on a sugar rush!

I am getting more and more closer to go on a N.R. Walker-binge soon enough! ;-)

Already reread after 2 months. Absolute perfection.

I’m not feeling very well so this will be a quickie review.

I absolutely ADORED this book. It was so romance and sexy and low-angst and just the perfect book when you are feeling down. N.R. Walker at her finest. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

I absolutely loved Imago. It's a truly gorgeous story with supremely likable MC's and adorkableness in abundance. I have a weak spot for geeks of many flavors, not to mention the tall, rugged outdoorsy type (though I'm not remotely outdoorsy, so this is total fantasy for me) and there is just something about a smart man in a bow tie that just does it for me.

Lawson Gale is a lepidopterist, a person who specializes in the study of all things butterfly. He's flown to Tasmania to meet up with colleague who wishes for Lawson to go in search of a butterfly he saw many decades ago, but could never find again. Lawson is cautious, but cannot pass up such an opportunity. Lawson was gloriously geeky and absolutely adorkable, even when he was a bit clumsy, which was fairly often.

Jack Brighton lives and works in Tasmania as a Parks and Wildlife officer. He's tall and maybe a bit intimidating, but Jack is a teddy bear. When he first laid eyes on the geeky guy in the bow tie when he was on a plane back to Tasmania, from Melbourne, he was quite taken. And when he sees that same guy having trouble at the rental car counter, he offers his assistance. How could he resist, after all?

And thus begins a courtship between two men with very different backgrounds who, none the less, are very compatible - in every way. I loved them together. I loved their dates, I loved their ritual of giving each other flowers, I loved the picnic in the back yard, I loved Jack's dog, Rosemary. I loved Lawson's passion for his butterflies, I loved that Jack saw the importance in Lawson's work, and I loved this story from beginning to end.

"I came to Tasmania in search of an elusive species." ... "But never in my wildest dreams did I expect to find you."

Imago was steamier than most books by this author. The sex was sweet and passionate. The angst is low and the ending a strong HFN. I look forward to reading book two and experiencing more of Jack's and Lawson's story!

This is a book most will find sweet, cute, romantic, and adorable. I know I did.

Jack is quite the gentlemen. I loved that he asks Lawson on a date. I love how they meet. It's just one of those right place at the right time coincidence's that started this endearing relationship.

Their first date... SWOON!!! Jack nailed it and it was such a freaking sweet date. The kind that makes you second guess about not putting out on the first date kind of date. lol

Both men's jobs were really interesting and something I've never read about. So I found that refreshing.

I'm not sure why I didn't fall completely in love with this story. But I really did enjoy it and the ease of these men's relationship.

It's another one those easy romantic sweet reads that one needs when they just wanna shut the brain off. I definitely recommend this one.

Happy reading, dolls! xx

Reread February 2021

I really needed this light and happy read just now. Although, I guess I would knock half a point off my original rating for too much 'perfection' in the characters.

Original review:

Oh my. I was smiling through most of the book so hard my face muscles started aching.

I never knew how much I needed a book like this - one that makes your heart flutter with delight, causes you to squee (please keep in mind I am one of those who loves a good deal of angst in her books...) and gasp sweet ooohs and aahhs. I hope you're not getting the impression that this book is cloyingly sweet - because no, no, no that would be totally wrong. This is pure romance at its best!

I mean, but how can you not melt into puddles with MCs like that:

*Lawson: the "nerdy, gorgeous, intelligent and sassy" lepitopterist who is "dressed like it was the 1920s and spoke the Queen's English like he'd just swallowed the Oxford Dictionary!" The thing is: "he was so sexy, and what made him even hotter was that he seriously had no clue how sensual he was".
I completely understand why Jack is utterly charmed with the man because so was I. Just the way he talks is so adorable! Lines like this (after a really sigh-worthy kiss) ...

"While it is correct that breathing can be both a voluntary and involuntary process, I'm not certain I'ver ever forgotten to breathe before now."

But the thing is, Lawson is by no means a pushover. In his direct way he says what he wants and is totally honest about it. And he isn't shy to go for it either. The combination of nerdy, shy, bossy and determined was intriguing. N.R. Walker really shines with her characterization here!

* Jack is simply awesome. He is a genuinely nice guy, one of those you might dream of meeting. His dates are more than swoon-worthy and the way he tries to 'woo' Lawson is bound to make you

I think I've never read a book before where flirting was so much at the centre of everything and boy, does the author know how to write flirting! Lawson and Jack are supercute (Thank you, Judith, this is the only way to say it!) and I just ...

So, yes. This book is virtually angst free (there is a tiny bit at the end, but nothing really to worry about) but I was totally sold on these guys and their story. They definitely charmed my pants off.
I know I will read this again - I love the MCs, the way they fall in love, how they get to know each other and slowly progress things, how careful they are with each other, and then of course, there is also Rosemary. (How could I not have mentioned her - she is a star secondary character!)

Highly recommended.

Seriously, simply one of the easiest romance stories I’ve had the pleasure of reading in quite awhile.

Jack and Lawson meet, and from there, sparks and interest ignite. Their flirty camaraderie is surprisingly marked quite nicely by all the ways they each realize just how much the other tickles their fancy.

Like everyone else has said, this is comfort reading at its best. No crazy angst. No big internal or external hurdles to overcome. It doesn’t hurt at all that both MC's are very likeable, genuine, and attractive in their own unique and special ways.

Often for me, Walker isn’t known for a high rating in the smex department, and though this doesn’t break any barriers, I enjoyed this far more than her other stories. Nothing ever felt rushed or overlooked, and I appreciated the slow build and finally the sexy culmination. In addition, I also marvel at her choice of subject matter which was refreshing and felt well researched (for one who is far from well versed in anything involving flora and fauna).

Again, if you want an easy, fun, and sexy romance, then this is for you.

N.R. Walker was kind enough to offer me an advance copy to read of Imago, and I enjoyed it very much. I realise we both started in fairly similar places. But the bare bones of my idea came from a throwaway remark by a ŷ reader about 'two guys chasing butterflies', so it's not that Butterfly Hunter emerged from a chrysallis all my own making! And from there, it's two different storytellers each following their own paths in their own directions. We've each now blogged about the situation, and I hope readers will judge Imago on its own merits.

The bottom line: This is a stonkingly good read. If you feel like giving it a try, I feel sure you won't regret it.

I thought this was a solid 4 stars because it made me smile for the last three hours while I was reading this, but then the last 30 or so pages happend and I was crying and laughing and crying and was soooo happy, damn, so 5 stars after all.
I knew I would like this book because I was in the perfect mood for light fluffy romance, but for this simple story to pull me in like this and make me so emotional, well done on the writing.
The book is not overly exceptional now but Lawson and Jack are so cute together. I love the dates Jack pulls out of a hat, I love the scientific background of the plot, and the total acceptance they have for each other from the first moment, all without drama or insecurities.

Nerdy, gorgeous, intelligent, and sassy. God, he just keeps getting better. 🤩

In that perfect moment, the world stopped turning. Nothing existed but him. He left me breathless and dizzy, and certain of one thing. There was more on the menu tonight than just dinner. 🤗

Do you need a hug? I know some days, I just want a big warm hug. This story felt like a comforting hug and I adored it. There is so much sweetness and happiness from the beginning to the end, I joyfully soared through the pages. I’m quite pleased to see this is the first book in a series because I could read about these guys all day long.

Jack is a big lug of a guy with a big heart and an even bigger smile. He smiles a lot and so did I. He’s just finished his trip to the city and can’t wait to get back to the peace and quiet of home. Of course, along with his small piece of paradise in the country comes the loneliness of his solitude. He has his best mate, Rosemary, but it’s just the two of them. He is content with his life until he is given a taste of what’s he’s missing, a sexy smartypants wrapped up in a bowtie. Lawson embraces his quirky nerdiness. He is fascinated with his work and from his previous attempts has concluded it’s not worth the time to date. But what if he’s just been with the wrong men until now? Most people don’t ‘get him, but Jack instantly understands what makes him tick. It’s too bad his trip is short and time is limited but they might as well make the most of it while he’s there. Flings are exhilarating, but what if this isn’t just a holiday romance? Could they actually be.more?

What's to like: I think their story flowed well and kept my attention. Their introduction was amusing and set the tone for their polar personalities. Jack is cool, calm and solid. Lawson is a contradiction of himself depending on his environment. He swims against the current and is easily agitated when out of his comfort zone. However, when he is submerged in his work he becomes completely focused and oblivious to his surroundings. I enjoyed how different they are yet entirely compatible. Not only are both Jack and Lawson lovely but I instantly warmed to Jack’s friends. They are all delightful people.

What's to love: A kind gesture from a stranger turns into a string of epic dates. I found myself as enamored as the guys, loving each perfect date and eagerly anticipating the next. They only have a few days but the certainly make the best of them. I found Jack’s beautiful and vast outdoor office fascinating. I’ve always wanted to visit Australia but now it’s securely added to my bucket list of travels. Walker paints a beautiful and enticing picture and I’m dying to go. I’d love to tell you my favorite date they share but I just can’t decide. They are just so darn cute together.

Beware of: Swift, sweet and adorable romance without much conflict. If you require angst in your stories, you won’t find it here. Though there is a spike of adrenaline near the end, the flow is quiet and smooth most of the ride.

This book is for: If happy book hugs are your thing, this is one fantastic and satisfying squeeze. You don’t have to be an outdoor nut to appreciate the beauty of their story. If you want to feel the sun on your face, hop in and better yet, you can even leave your sunscreen at home!

Ah this was so incredible sweet, tender, loving, just a sweetheart of a book.

Loved both guys, their relationship was one of the sweetest I've read. Lawson, loved his bow ties, I thought they were sexy as hell and the way he spoke so old fashion but so endearing. Jack, was such a sweetheart tall, and gorgeous but so thoughtful and caring towards Lawson. The dates Jack planned for Lawson were so romantic and the butterfly kisses, so adorable!

***N.B. The ONLY similarities between this story and Julie Bozza's wonderful are 1) butterflies, 2) 2 guys and 3) Australia.***

Thanks to Nic for the ARC. A lovely, light and fluffy, feel good read with minimal angst from Nic **happy dancing, we all need less angst in our lives**. Jack Brighton, out and proud Parks and Wildlife Officer based in Tasmania and Lawson Gale, nerdy, brilliant but socially awkward lepidopterist from Adelaide, who has flown to the island to try and find an apparently extinct butterfly, the Eltham Copper, which an old mentor of his has assured him does still exist!!

The Eltham Copper....and isn't it beautiful

As is usual with the guys that Nic dreams up [and you only have to look on my fave couples bookshelf to find most of them…Lucas and Cameron, Tom and Coop, Kira and Matt, Carter and Isaac, Charlie and Travis, Spencer and Andrew, Israel and Sam etc.,], I fell in love with Jack and Lawson more or less straight away, and am already impatient for book 2.

I’m not going into any more detail for the story, I know you’ll love it just as much as I did. Please don’t forget to give a read too, it’s magical!!

This story was pretty light and sweet. I enjoyed it, but didn't get to love it.

It was also quite different with all the butterflies details. The end left me with a big smile on my face. The angst was minimal and we get some pretty hot scenes.

Like I've said before, I'm not a fan of too many rainbows and unicorns in the books I read. It's true I enjoy fluffy romance once in a while but somehow writes too much sugary sweet for me. My favorite book by her would be , but didn't really work for me.

Well I had on my TBR for ages and I'm glad I got to read it. It's a light read and I was pretty satisfied with it. Hope my next reads from this author will bring more angst.

4.5 Stars Bursting with Sweetness!

Lovely. Sweet. Romantic. Heartfelt. A true love story.

Do you want to smile and feel yummy inside? Read Imago.

NR Walker's latest warmed my heart and etched a smile on my face the ENTIRE TIME I was reading this. It was sweet without being sickly and gooey. It was romantic without being angsty or over the top. It was intelligent without being overbearing. And it was sexy in just the right ways, at the right times, and in the right amounts.

I adored this story about a shy and straight forward scientist and a grounded, yet lonely parks ranger. The story is as beautiful and magical as the glorious cover to this book!

This story is pure romance. Awkward and giddy and sweet romance.
Lawson is a nerdy, introverted genius lepidopterist who is also a bossy bottom with a foul mouth - but only during sexy times.
Jack is a local Parks and Wildlife officer in Scottsdale. He has a great life with good friends and his trusty dog, but is maybe a little lonely.
When they meet, well, let's just say I couldn't stop smiling.

"this guy was wearing a chambray business-style shirt with a navy bow tie. A goddamn bow tie. If I were to look up Hottest Fucking Nerd On The Planet, this guy’s photo would be it. Like seriously. He made my insides do stupid things."

Beautiful storytelling, lovable M/C's, no angst and the sequel "Imagines" already in progress...N.R. Walker NEVER lets me down.
Highly recommend.

Awwwwwww!

This book was so cute. Lawon Gale is the definition of adorkable. Bow tie and suspender-wearing Lawson catches Jack's eye on a flight from Melbourne to Launceston. Jack offers Lawson a ride when there's a mixup at the car rental. After determining that Jack is not, in fact, a serial killer, Lawson agrees and Jack is smitten in the short car ride.

Lawson can't believe that this hunky man is showing interest and flirting, but he's definitely willing to go with it. Lawson may be a geeky introvert, but he definitely knows how to speak his mind. And tell Jack exactly what he wants.

The story was the perfect amount of sexy and sweet. From the first kiss, both men know this is something.

..."I'm not certain I've ever actually forgotten to breath before now."

This was a low angst, almost completely relationship-driven story that was a true pleasure to read. The only angst involved is what will happen when Lawson's weeklong search for a non-existent butterfly is over.

When the intent of the title was revealed, I'll admit it.....I swooned. I cannot wait for Book 2 (no cliffie) to arrive so I can eat up some more of their story. It was truly a warm cup of hot chocolate on cold, winter day.

"I believe I found a type of butterfly that exists only in my belly which only makes itself known when I think of you."

I quickly fell in love with both Lawson and Jack.

Told from a dual POV, Imago is a sweet, no angst, passionate whirlwind romance.

The romance happens quickly at just under a week of knowing one another, but at the same time it's pleasantly paced with Jack and Lawson getting to know one another well.

There was a lot to love about the story: the characters, Rosemary the dog, the way Walker parcels out information so the reader learns but isn't bored by the intake of new knowledge.

My only complaint with the story is the final chapter skips ahead and the reader is told of experiences that I would have absolutely preferred to have gotten to "witness" rather than just be told about. I felt a bit cheated, to be honest, but only because I love the characters so much and wanted more.

Other than that I really enjoyed this delightful romance and am absolutely looking forward to book two!

While this was a very sweet story, I was missing just a little tension. A bit of inner angst, like some sort of insecurity would have been enough for me. But this was all smooth sailing between these guys.

Jack is a wildlife officer who takes care of the woods of Scottsdale. When he meets lepidopterist Lawson, he is immediately enamored with the sweet butterfly hunter.

Lawson is there for a week to find a new butterfly species. The attraction between the two is immediately evident and Jack is thrilled when the sweet man agrees to go out on a date the first night he is there.

The two go out on several dates and get close real fast. But Lawson has to go back to his own life after the week is up

While I loved the rugged Jack and the kind Lawson, who talked like he’d swallowed a dictionary, I was also missing just a bit more OOMPH between these guys.

Neither was insecure or really shy about what or who they wanted, so they kind of just went for it. Not that this is insta-love or there was lots of sex. Not at all. There just wasn’t any conflict whatsoever, and I guess that bored me just a little.

Still, this is a sweet, enjoyable book. Perfect for a rainy Sunday.

They had genuine connection. Their relationship started so raw and full of honesty. It’s realistic and mature, I adore that so much. I love all their dates it felt so special to me. They both wanted to get to know each other, actually take their time and never share any boring small talks. I looove it 😩😩 Damn, I’m actually jealous. This book mainly focus on their relationship. It was low angst and swoony at best. I didn’t think it was too sweet and must be in the exact mood to enjoy it.

This is sooo nerdy and vanilla for me, but soo cutee lmaoo 😂😩 NRW never disappoints!

I love Lawson as a character. He prefers to be alone but never minded Jack as a companion 🤭 both of them were adorable together. I loved the ending too, it was so sweet ❤️❤️

If there's something I'm sure I'm going to love it's an N.R. Walker feel-good. Seriously, no one writes feel-good romances like she does. And I am there for it. It was such an easy read. My only complaint is that the pages flew by. I didn't want it to end.

Imago is a sweet story about finding love. And yourself. No angst, no drama, no misunderstandings. It's all about that feeling of being in love. When everything is new and rose colored.

Jack and Lawson were perfect. So perfect. The chemistry was instant. It feels like I fell in love right there with them. I'm having all the feels right now.

The cover is as stunning as the words.

4.5 Adorable Stars

I don't read many gay romance books. I'll pick them up from time to time and I am always pleasantly surprised by the love stories between the men in these books.

N. R. Walker is a new author for me and I have to say this one is a little gem!

Imago has to be the most adorable and sweetest story I have read about two men falling in love.

I adored Jack and Lawson. They were both so charming. I look forward to reading what happens next with them.

Sweetness.

Lawson amused me with his bow-ties and proper speaking. The book has instant attraction though they take the time to get to know each other and build into more. Well they make the most of the week they have anyway! It's a pleasant undemanding read.

There's some brief drama where dog Rosemary can show her mettle but mostly this is an easy read of two men bonding with a little help from friends who cook. Not sure the metamorphosis allegory was warranted at the end but it was still a nice scene.

Despite modern technology mobiles and laptops at the ready the story had a timeless feel to it, perhaps because that's the image a lepidopterist evokes. For me anyway. And totally unrelated, I love the sound of that word!

Butterflies are tremendously strong for creatures that look so fragile and that suits Lawson.

Also kudos to Walker and Bozza, so nice to see authors adulting. Communication when coupled with respect is a wonderful thing.

"I believe I found a type of butterfly that exists only in my belly which only makes itself know when I think of you."

Imago was an incredibly sweet and feel-good romance between two amazing characters. The strong, solid, and outdoorsy, Jack Brighton meets the bowtie wearing, nerdy, eloquently speaking butterfly specialist, Lawson Gale.

These two hit it off almost immediately. Their romance happens pretty quickly, all in a about a week, but there wasn't any rush or insta-love. The guys take their time getting to know each other. Their dates where some of the highlights of this story! The first one being especially memorable. It was very romantic and swoonworthy.

There is no angst in this story. Jack and Lawson's developing romance is similar to the rapid life of a caterpillar emerging into a beautiful butterfly. Starting off small and ending in a fully developed romance, an imago, if you will. The progression of the story flows naturally. I particularly liked the slow build up, and focus on tender kisses and hand jobs, than full on sex. These guys take their time and doesn't rush to bed the moment they are alone. There's lots of flirting, talking, touching, and kissing. I found them more enjoyable than their first time actually. The scenes are high on steam, but also have all the feels.

Lawson was adorable. His blushes and fashion style charmed Jack, as well as me. He talks like he's "just swallowed the Oxford Dictionary". It made their conversations and dialogues interesting to say the least! I loved them, they made me giggle and smile a lot while reading. Lawson might seem timid, but I assure you he is not. He makes his opinions known in his own way.

I loved the alternating first person point of view, getting to know both Jack and Lawson's thoughts and feelings. Jack is a mountain of a man with an eye crinkling smile and a warm, calloused handshake. He ticks all of Lawson's boxes. Jack shows interest and respect in Lawson and his work, something Lawson hasn't really experienced from previous partners. Jack gets completely lost in Lawson, and it's a beautiful thing to witness.

"You are sublime."
"Oh." He blushed, and the colour that crossed his cheeks matched the delicious colour of his lips. "No one's ever called me that before."
I ran my thumb across his cheek. "Then they were fools."

If I have to mention a small niggle, I do feel the ending was a bit rushed. The last chapter was a sort of epilogue to tie up and round off the story. I would liked to have been around for those happenings, instead of being told of them in hindsight.

Imago is an easy and very enjoyable read. I loved this story. It grabbed me from the start, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Jack and Lawson. I giggled, and smiled, and swooned my way through their story. NR Walker's writing is beautiful as always, making me fall in love with her characters from the first page.

I cupped his face in my two hands and fluttered my eyelashes against his cheek.
“What are you doing? he whispered.
“Butterfly kisses, I murmured before pressing my lips to his once more.

Imago.

This story was all kinds of adorable fluff. It's the story of nerdy a lepidopterist, Lawson Gale, and Wildlife Officer Jack Brighton. Jack's longing for more than the occasional hookup and was smitten with Lawson as soon as he saw him. He found everything about him endearing, cute, and sexy.

Lawson, on the other hand, wasn't immediately sold on Jack- well, nothing past looks. But the forces of fate push them together, and Jack, not one to waste an opportunity snatches his chance to have more time with Lawson. The story spans a week of kisses, nature, and some of the most romantic dates I've ever read.

My highlights:

-Narration: alternating POVs. I can't even convey how happy this made me. I have to admit there have been times in the past I wished we'd gotten both POVs in NR Walker's stories. It felt like Christmas came early when I reached chapter two and realized we were getting both POVs.

-Jack and Lawson. It was impossible not to come to care for them. Their personalities forced you to root for them.

-Drama free. There's no villain lurking wanting to break them up or do them harm. No unnecessary, contrived arguments. It's a simple story of two men falling in love.

-Steam. It's not heavy on the sexy times, but the scenes it has are sensual and accentuate the connection between Lawson and Jack.

-I also appreciated how much research when into writing this book. Yes, it's a simple story of two men falling for each other, but there was plenty of research that had to have been done to make the story believable.

-The end. Although there's a book 2, the story doesn't end on a cliffhanger, and we get a strong HFN.

NR Walker has a gift for delivering feel good stories that sweep us away into her worlds causing us to forget about any struggles, and instead, we get lost in romance and happily ever afters. 4.5 Stars

"He put his hand to my face and we kissed as I made love to him. Rocking slowly, savouring every second of being inside him. My climax built, slow, and steady, and Lawson held my face as I came."
