“For anyone who has ever waited for the call that didn’t come . . .�
I’ve never shied away from the fact that I’m a reader with a strong opinion, so why start now? It’s not that I enjoy writing one star reviews or labeling something as “not for me�, but the reality is, there are books that walk into my life and don’t work for one reason or another.
It was the promise of a love story and the loaded title, wrapped in a pretty package, that started the incessant pitter-patter in my chest—I was so sure, this would be one to remember.
In hindsight, maybe I should have listened to the voice in my head telling me—after only a few chapters—this wasn’t going to go well and simply moved on. Instead, ever the optimist and down a credit, I decided to stuff those nagging feelings somewhere deep and forge ahead with an open mind. I could make this work, right?
The first red flag, my inability to succumb to the author’s style. Her writing lacked finesse and landed more on the bland side of the spectrum, when she wasn’t getting caught-up in the weeds . . . literally. has a strange penchant for drifting off and describing the outdoor scenery, regardless of the fact that her characters find themselves indoors or that it’s simply irrelevant to the storyline. I’m talking trees, grass, valleys, grass, birds, grass, the sky . . . did I mention the grass? It seems to be a favorite of hers. *wink*
The big beating heart of the story should have been the couple, Sarah and Eddie, who supposedly fall desperately in love after spending a mere �seven perfect days� together. Here is where the problem lies—as readers, we are only privy to a few vignettes over that seven day period, meaning the development of Sarah and Eddie’s relationship is non-existent. Missing out on the best part of any budding relationship—the actual falling—colors this entire story with a deep shade of insta-love. Failing to see, understand or feel the spark of the couple’s connection in my bones, I couldn’t view Sarah’s actions, after she’s "ghosted" by Eddie, as anything more than the insipid whining of a very desperate woman. Granted, being "ghosted" would hurt, but after seven days, by a man you barely know, to be this obsessed? Come on. Had Sarah been 15 to 20 years younger—she’s on the brink of 40 and not yet divorced from her husband of 17 years, who she’s now come to realize she never really loved?—maybe I would have cut her some slack and not pitied her desperation quite so much.
The author tries to weave some mystery into the storyline, but the execution is melodramatic, at best. The sheer number of coincidences, irrelevant secondary characters—each with their own carry-on bags jam-packed with drama—and the author trying her hand at trickery, one too many times, left me wishing I would have trusted my gut and ghosted this cast early on.

Ghosted was a frustrating read--The majority of my frustrations stem from the book’s structure. While there are some wonderful pockets, as a whole this book did not work for me.
Sarah and Eddie met by chance. They spend seven glorious, passion-filled days together and make plans for the future. But then Eddie “ghosts� Sarah, who cannot comprehend why the love of her life would vanish without a trace. Sarah verges on obsession trying to find out what happened to Eddie and begins to question whether or not there time together was real.
My reading experience:
It took until I reached the 50% mark for me to get into this. I found the first half boring and Sarah’s obsession with Eddie began to grate on my nerves. Since the reader only gets glimpses of her time with Eddie vs. being immersed in their time together, I didn’t feel their connection and began to wonder if Sarah was mentally ill. I was going to DNF and began scrolling through my tbr to plan my escape. But I had some questions about Sarah and came up with a crazy theory, so I kept on reading to see if I was right about her--I was completely wrong.
There’s a major twist, which threw me for a loop and finally drew me into the book. But then more and more twists come, which I just didn’t find necessary. Why couldn’t we just get a straightforward, heartfelt read and have characters face their fears and emotions instead of putting things off continuously?
Since I never felt the romantic tension between the characters, I could care less about whether or not they got together and the air of mystery keeping them apart just made me more frustrated. Had we seen them together, perhaps my feelings for them would have grown. But alas, they did not.
Lastly, there were some weird transitions and time jumps. I read an ARC of Ghosted, so the final version might read a little differently. In the version I read, I had to keep going back to see if I missed certain events (I did not) or if the author just skipped over some important events (it appears she did).
I feel like Ghosted has a lot of potential, and I was intrigued by parts of it. However, I have a read a few romances recently that kept me reading all night to see if the characters would get together (or back together) and sadly Ghosted just doesn't compare.

Sarah Mackey has been Ghosted—and she is not okay. After almost a full week of pure bliss, Sarah and Eddie have fallen hopelessly in love with one another despite having only just met.
Yes, it’s a shameless bout of insta-love, and I, for once, didn’t hate it.
When life finally pulls these two lovebirds out of their romantic cocoon, Eddie promises Sarah he’ll call…BUT…he never does.
Convinced this is the real deal, Sarah becomes desperate for answers and will stop at almost nothing to obtain them, even if this quest includes compulsive phone calls and incessant messaging, until it gradually devolves into the self-depreciating task of flat out googling “why didn’t he call?�...
This plot is focused, and squeezes its reader into the manic grip of Sarah’s growing insanity, dragging us on a journey that is both obsessive and dryly comical.
She’s kind of unraveling, and it’s kind of ridiculous, but I also kind of loved it because who hasn't been on the receiving end of being *ghosted* at least once in their lives, convinced that death-by-rejection might in fact be a thing?
What I enjoyed most about this book was the writing and originality, especially that of the first half. Sure, the plot itself is, at times, redundant and tends to have some dragging points, but woven into this prolonged cycle of Sarah-finding-Eddie are heartbreaking side stories with extremely touching outcomes.
For me, this was good storytelling, and even though there are elements I wish had more focus and some that could have been a bit less pronounced, I had fun with this one and would recommend it not necessarily as a love story, but a tale of the lengths people will go to in order to find some happiness. And, of course, to witness firsthand the art of being ghosted.

I listened to the Audiobook, beautifully read by Katherine Press. She really brought this story to life. It was like "listening" to a movie. (I would actually recommend that you LISTEN to this book, or listen to and read the book at the same time. Katherine Press dramatized the heck out of this story!)

Sarah has been inexplicably ghosted by Eddie, a man she had fallen hopelessly in love with. She could have sworn he'd felt the same way. Sarah is heartbroken, and unable to let this love go.... She has to find out why...
I was literally on the edge of my seat as we headed into the final chapters of this captivating story of star-crossed lovers. More than once I thought of poor Romeo and Juliet. Loved the jaw-dropping twist. Did NOT see that one coming at all!
I also liked the fact that the male character was coping with a parent suffering through severe depression/mental illness, and how being her full time caregiver (or Carer, as they say in GB) had limited his choices and enjoyment of life. Many of us have been in his position, felt his frustration, and his feelings of isolation and fear.
I was more than happy to suspend my disbelief and follow the very emotionally rocky road of a woman who had been "ghosted" - dropped by a lover who stopped calling for no apparent reason. There is some solace to be found at the end of this book when the tables are turned - but I won't tell you how! Just listen to the audio version - the narrator did a golden job and elevated this book to new heights! I preferred the audio CDs to the actual book - Katherine Press really transformed this novel!
P.S I would definitely recommend that you listen to the audio book, then perhaps read the book - or listen and read at the same time. Rosie Walsh is a good writer and she can certainly create a suspenseful atmosphere, but it was Katherine Press's performance that made this memorable. She's been in a few British and American series and movies. (She had a role in Captain America, apparently. I'm not surprised she is doing well: she turned this otherwise decent romance into something well above the ordinary.) I was never fond of being read to, but in this case, you will feel like you just left the movie theater when you turn the last page. The author set the stage and wrote the "script" but Katherine Press breathed life into these characters. Well done!

I'll be honest and say that this book has left me feeling conflicted. The concept of "ghosting" intrigued me but
Ghosted
ended up being something other than what I expected.
Sarah & Eddie meet, spend a week together & fall deeply in love. Maybe my romantic heart has hardened with age but the fact that this thirty-something year old woman became OBSESSED with Eddie after 7 days just didn't seem romantic to me. It felt unstable. All her frantic, unanswered attempts to reach out to Eddie crossed a line in my mind. She appeared desperate, unbalanced and stalkerish.
I found myself feeling annoyed with Sarah's behavior. I simply had no sympathy for her as a character, mostly because of the way she was acting. She was very self-centered not even noticing what her friends were going through around her due to her "Eddie Tunnel Vision". Yet, I admittedly was still intrigued by what could have actually led to Eddie "ghosting" her. Walsh laid out several breadcrumbs and my curiosity was definitely piqued. There was no doubt that I had to know what was actually going on. Was Eddie married? Was he a criminal? Was Sarah actually mentally unbalanced and imagining the connection they had?
So, back to my conflicted feelings regarding Ghosted . Sarah genuinely annoyed me and I found the whole insta-love aspect far-fetched. Yet, I have to also admit that I found the book compulsively readable. I couldn't put it down because despite its failings, I did want to find out what was actually going on. I couldn't look away from Sarah unravelling before my eyes. Her actions were reminiscent of a character in a bad Lifetime movie. If you're like me, you can't flip the channel on one of those either so you understand! One surprising aspect was that I really connected with the grief aspect of the story. The loss of a loved one is palpable, raw & real. I thought Walsh's portrayal of the way various family members handle grief differently in response to tragedy was empathetic, honest & very well done.
I enjoyed some of the twists this book took and it definitely wasn't what I expected going in. Unfortunately, I just never had a big enough connection to Sarah & Eddie's insta-love relationship to feel fully invested in what happened with them and that was the bulk of the book. If I'm going to be honest, it was definitely more curiosity than anything else, that kept me turning the pages to the end.

2.5 rounded up .
This is one that I thought I would love - what’s not to love about a love story? But I just didn’t connect. There were several things that rang true in this novel- marriages don’t always work, accidents happen and handling grief is difficult and different for each of us. There definitely were some tough things that happened to the characters and I felt for them over their losses, over the burdens they carried. But the premise of the book that had a woman falling apart after a one week affair with a man who disappears from her life just didn’t work for me, mainly because there just wasn’t enough of their time together shown to reflect a realistic connection between them for me. If I had felt that connection, I could have gone with the flow and accepted all of the coincidences that made this feel a little contrived with a predictable ending. It’s barely 3 stars for me. Bottom line is that I’m not the audience for this, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this does well with fans of romance. I upped it to 3 stars in spite of the things I didn’t connect with because I did connect with the grief expressed by Sarah and Eddie for their sisters in the letters they wrote. This was my first read with Traveling Sisters and I enjoyed getting the perspectives of others who read this, even though we all didn’t agree.

This is one of my favorite fiction reads of 2018. I think it helped just jumping right into the book without rereading the synopsis that I had long ago forgotten. Really all you need to know is Sarah and Eddie spend an incredible week together even though they have just met, make plans to see one another after Eddie comes back from vacation, and then Eddie ceases all communication with Sarah and she is left wondering what happened.
I just really love how the author used the whole "ghosting" concept in the book. I think it is totally relatable as a dating fear, that you will connect with someone and then the person just mysteriously vanishes from your life and you are left to wonder what went wrong. It brought a level of mystery to the story as you wondered what exactly happened to make Eddie stop contacting Sarah. The pacing of the story was excellent as the author did not drag the mystery until the last 5 pages to reveal what happened. Instead the story unfolded naturally and went in all these interesting and unexpected directions.
What I find both strange and amusing is I actually found the background of Sarah and Eddie first meeting and spending time together to be the weakest part of the story. And yet I still felt invested in their relationship and getting to the bottom of what happened. Kudos to the author for such an entertaining read!

I’ll preface this by saying that many readers will be enthralled by Ghosted. It may be my cold, dark heart but I am not among them. After spending six days together, Eddie and Sarah fall hopelessly in love. Both are pushing forty and I can’t help but think this is quite a stretch. Poof! Eddie disappears; Sarah is devastated and spends an inordinate amount of time trying to find him. This was tedious and rather pathetic. Eddie’s side of the story is equally insipid. Again, blame my cold, dark heart not the novel. Coincidence and contrivance continue until it’s wrapped up with a big shiny bow. As a debut novel, it’s fine and I think Walsh will have a successful romance writer’s career. If you are a romance reader, keep her on your radar.

4.5 Stars!
GHOSTED by ROSIE WALSH was such a beautifully written love story that had a hint of mystery to it and a few surprising twists, that I absolutely adored! This book was extremely gripping, intense, and a heartwarming story that had me totally engaged and interested right from the very first chapter to the very last page. I was totally intrigued and emotionally invested in this whole story and I really appreciated that I went into this one blind. Some parts of this novel I had an intimate and emotional connection to.
ROSIE WALSH delivers an original, well-paced and well-written read here with believable and convincing characters. I could totally relate to Sarah & Eddie’s characters and their short and intense relationship. My relationship with my husband was so similar to the love story in this book. So for that very reason I found this story both intense and beautiful and had me choked up quite a few times. I was totally entertained and flew through those pages!

GHOSTED by ROSIE WALSH was such a beautifully written love story that had a hint of mystery to it and a few surprising twists, that I absolutely adored! This book was extremely gripping, intense, and a heartwarming story that had me totally engaged and interested right from the very first chapter to the very last page. I was totally intrigued and emotionally invested in this whole story and I really appreciated that I went into this one blind. Some parts of this novel I had an intimate and emotional connection to.
ROSIE WALSH delivers an original, well-paced and well-written read here with believable and convincing characters. I could totally relate to Sarah & Eddie’s characters and their short and intense relationship. My relationship with my husband was so similar to the love story in this book. So for that very reason I found this story both intense and beautiful and had me choked up quite a few times. I was totally entertained and flew through those pages!

Oh man!!! I didn’t connect with this book - there wasn't much of a story and the whole thing was uneventful and underwhelming unfortunately. I didn't like the characters either particularly the MC - honestly I wouldn't have called her either.
One very forgettable read and I found myself skimming this in the second half when the so called twist failed to breathe new life into a book that was struggling to pull me in. Then the ending held some interest but only just - which is why this is a 2 stars. Well written but then very little else.
Perhaps I read a different book because my version says they had seven perfect days together on the cover not six. In the book we only had about 2 days of kerfuffling as well. Not that any of this matters really. The important piece to the story is that Mr Lover Lover didn’t call after all that love!!!!
Please read other more positive reviews to get a more rounded view of this one because this clearly wasn't for me, although I didn't hate it.

July 13, 2018Although I did finish this book, and the ending had some touching moments, I do not feel comfortable assigning a rating. This is because, quite frankly, I skimmed through quite a bit of this. I just never connected with many of the plot points, and also thought there was way to much teenage angst present, from a middle aged woman. This was a sisters read and many loved this so.......it's quite possible it is not the book that is at fault, but myself who chose to read a book that was not for moi!
So will leave it at that. A cop out I know, but the best I feel able to do in all fairness. Read the other reviews and judge for yourself whether or not you think the book will appeal.

This was ill-advised.
By “this,� I mean “my reading this book, after purchasing it on a whim in the airport with little to no research, not even checking ŷ on my phone, instead choosing to overpay for a weird paperback of a print variety I hate, in turn ignoring the whimsical adorable cover in the hopes this was more mystery than romance, perhaps of a variety that would include the paranormal creatures alluded to in the title.�
I only have myself to blame for this.
By “this,� I mean “an unpleasant reading experience resulting in a 1.5 star rating and the loss of probably about $12.�
This is a book about Sarah and Eddie, two debilitatingly sad (classic) and lonely (of course) people who meet and fall in love immediately and spend a small number of Magical Days together and then when one of them leaves town to do something or other, Eddie never contacts Sarah again.
In hindsight, I realize of COURSE this is a dramatic romance. But the synopsis mentions mysterious reasons for his disappearance!!! It hints at dark backstories and hidden truths!!! And in all honesty I chose to be hopeful!!
This is what optimism gets me.
I wanted mystery and amateur detective work by Sarah and plot twists and yes, fine, I wanted ghosts!
I got: None of that.
Instead I got Sadness. Angst. Drama. That Trope Of Where A Woman Is Heartbroken And Literally Can’t Think Of Anything Else Except Checking Her Phone To See If Maybe, Just Maybe, He Messaged Her. Feelings. Other Things I Hate.
I was very bored, and very overwhelmed, and by the end, very very sick of this book and its characters and its repetitive angsty mundanity.
Bottom line: SOMEONE GIVE ME A BOOK ABOUT GHOSTS, PLEASE. I miss Buzzfeed Unsolved.

Norma and I read Ghosted with seven of our Traveling Sisters and we had some very strong views on this one that not only split us into two different Coulees but two Coulees nowhere near each other.
Ghosted starts off a bit slow and weighted down a bit as we are introduced to a story that seems like boy meets girl and they fall in love, but there is much more going on in this story than meets the eye though. For some of us we started to see a different story here hidden in the coincidences of this love story that really isn’t a love story. This is where we started to split as some of us did not buy into the love story and wanted to see more into the relationship between our two main characters Sarah and Eddie. Sarah blinded by love and what started off as an intense happy feeling of love and bliss soon turns into an obsession of thoughts as Sarah tries to find out the truth.
Rosie Walsh explores something deeper here and it really isn’t a love story but a story hidden deep within the relationship of Sarah and Eddie. She explores something common but not something often talked about or something we were aware of before reading this story as well as exploring pain, loss and family drama and dynamics, which at times does feel a bit too dramatic.
Ghosted does start off slow and sometimes does become repetitive and I with a couple other sisters made my way up to the top of the coulee looking for a way to escape but just as I was ready to jump out I left two of my sisters there and Rosie Walsh pulled me back into the coulee with Norma and three of our other TS and we couldn’t put this book down until we were finished. In the end, the four of us were looking for a tissue and felt quite satisfied with this heartwarming ending.
I highly recommend Ghosted to readers who are looking for a story that digs a little deeper into the emotional side with a twist that might leave you surprised. If you are looking to connect to these characters based on their relationship and love story alone this might not be the one for you. As always we recommend you give it a try to find out where you might land with this story.

The first half of Ghosted was very self-loathing and boring, IMO. I contemplated giving up several times but I wanted to continue since I paid for the damn thing. The middle part was a bit better and my hopes of enjoying it were on the up and up. The last 80% or so was interesting but not exciting.
Honestly, if you’ve read the synopsis then you already know the first 65% of the book.
* Girl meets boy.
* Girl likes boy.
* Boy likes girl.
* Boy never calls back.
There really wasn’t much more to it than that.
Later on we do find out why the BOY ghosted the GIRL and we get a better idea of the who, what, when, where, why, and how of the situation. I will say that after I found out the who, what, when, where, why, and how, I started to lose interest. . . again.
Long before we find out what the deal is, she’s stalking his friends all across England, even they knew that Eddie didn’t want to be bothered with Sarah.
I liked the premise of the book and it did get me excited for like 4 chapters. I was interested in those 4 chapters! I didn’t get all the feels, but I had a few here and there.
I sympathized with Sarah and I liked her and Eddie together. I liked how the author attempted to tackle mental health. There were moments that I was really rooting for the side characters.
Do I recommend this book? Yes and no. Yes, if you are looking for a light story that contain little suspense. No, if you are looking for a story that will give you all the feels.
Will I read another book by this author? No. The writing was good and I’m sure she will have long career but I’m not into her type of stories. That’s okay. Not every authors style will match what a reader is looking for.

This novel turned out to be something completely unexpected, I liked it!
Sarah and Eddie met and spend seven wonderful days together with the promise of seeing each other again, however, after saying goodbye Sarah does not hear from Eddie again. She calls him, texts him, sends him messages on facebook with no response on his part. What happened to Eddie? Well, there’s a backstory which you will find out about if you read the book.
I don’t know what else to say about the book without giving something away. When I started reading the book all I knew about it is what’s described in the synopsis (which is not much), at the moment I had no idea if this was a thriller, mystery, romance, or what and it turned out to be something completely unexpected that I enjoyed.
The novel is well-crafted and engaging, the characters are likable. Overall, I enjoyed it and recommend it to readers.

4.5 HOLY COW stars!
Wow! I absolutely love it when a book can catch me totally off guard. Ghosted is a quick, emotional and thrilling rollercoaster ride, with twists that I never saw coming.
Seven days. Just seven days. That’s all it took. When Sarah Mackey meets Eddie David, she suddenly finds herself caught up in a whirlwind romance. It is the stuff of fairytales and love story movies�. Just one week together, and they are deeply connected. They know. They just know. They are meant to be together. As the week ends, Eddie must leave for a trip and promises to call. Sarah is giddy and starry-eyed. BUT� Eddie does not call. In fact, Eddie does not communicate at all. No calls, no texts, no emails, no Facebook messages. Sarah is devastated and begins to realize there is way more to this love story than she could have ever imagined.
On a personal note, I enjoyed this book immensely. It read at a good pace, I enjoyed the characters, and it was different and intriguing. Before Ghosted, I was not familiar with “ghosting�. So this was something totally new to me. And there was a particular part that completely made my jaw drop. It was definitely a “Gotcha!� moment. This book really pulled one over on me!

I was fully prepared to come to this space and present myself sort of like this . . . . .
Now that I’ve logged on I realize only one of my GR friends has read this selection and she didn’t even rate it because it didn’t work for her either. It was Instagram that was flooded with this one since it was a Book of the Month selection awhile back. What a great feeling to be able to tell myself (at least for a minute) that I read something right ; )
Seriously, though, I’m obviously a lemming and if something shows up on my feed enough (except here, because somehow the GR recs are totally on crack and they need to tighten that game up) I’ll take the bait. I’ve also confessed about eleven trillion times that I either (a) don’t read blurbs at all or (b) only read the first line or two � and duhhhhhhh, I’m a fast reader so it’s not like I really feel like I wasted my life on something even if I don’t fall all over myself about it.
Ghosted is the book that proves I should stop doing everything I mentioned above and completely change the way books get added to my TBR. I immediately dismissed the “when Sarah meets Eddie, they connect instantly and fall in love� because Eddie then went missing and I was super psyched for some . . . .
But that was not meant to be. What I got instead?????
Ugh. This was NOT. FOR. ME. I really want to give it 1 Star because it was truly turrrrrrrrrible and the worst form of tragiporn full of every cliché you could possibly throw in to one book and sooooooooooooooo not a romance I could be a fan of (and trust me, homegirl has been getting down with some romance books lately � and not just the hide-the-salami kind either). I’m going to be generous and give it 2, though, because I should have at least scrolled the first page of reviews and noticed all the 1s and 2s instead of blindly jumping off the cliff.

Ghosted is a spectacular debut novel; it is beautifully written and perfectly paced, and I could not put it down until I was finished reading it. Walsh kept me guessing the entire time, and I thought the book was truly perfect from beginning to end. The plot and storytelling are unique, the characters are highly likeable, and the ending is both satisfying and believable. My one small complaint is that the book cover is not great; it bears no relation to the story and is not very appealing. Other than that little detail, I loved the book.

How many times have we heard stories from friends and family about how they met their future partner? How many of them told you that it was love at first sight or they “knew right away� that this was it? Those stories are few and far between. We will even joke to those people that their story should have been a Hallmark movie.
So what would you do if the “one� disappears after just seven days? How long and how hard would you spend searching for them?
Rosie Walsh’s book, “Ghosted�, takes that very premise to task.
Sarah is sure after seven blissful days and nights, Eddie is the one. Then Sarah is Ghosted. Urban dictionaries define ghosted as � when someone you love disappears without explanation...then your family and friends act like you’re crazy.�
Sarah stops at nothing to discover the reason that Eddie has disappeared.
Walsh’s book dragged at times and she was redundant at several points throughout the book with the theme but overall Walsh created a story worth the finish.
The Hallmark channel won’t be producing this story as their next movie of the week, because not everything in Sarah’s journey is all a bed of roses. There are thorns and ragged edges along Sarah’s unstoppable journey to find Eddie and the truth about his disappearance. This book was a Book of the Month selection. (Sigh) Another BOTM bust ☹️
Sarah and Eddie meet and instantly fall in love with each other. They spend seven perfect days together until Sarah has to go back to LA and Eddie has to go on holiday to Spain. When they part ways and he promises he will keep in contact but never does. Sarah becomes increasingly worried that something bad has happened to him. And she may be right...
Okay first off, Rosie Walsh enough with the damn grass already! This author has a tendency to over dramatize the scenery to the point of annoyance. Seriously we've got it with the grass.
The love story is melodramatic at best and with pointless side characters and their irrelevant additions to the main storyline this makes it for less than a good read. But it was the pretty cover and the promise of a good love story that drew me in. I really need to stop judging books by their covers.
The twist at the end, though mildly surprising, was not unexpected at all. And Walsh's constant battle with other side characters storylines in the feeble attempt to twist you up even more as the reader fails even more dramatically then the love story itself.
Now let's talk about the main character shall we? Sarah is newly divorced from a 17-year long marriage and is approaching her 40s as is Eddie. For a woman of her age to get wrapped up so quickly and obsessed so profoundly over a man that she only knew for a week is a bit more than far fetched. I mean, come on! It would be more believable for a 15 year old girl to be the main character of this book rather than the 30 odd something woman that Walsh chose to write in. Despite the fact that I side with her friends and would have told her myself to just forget about the guy and move on, her incessant whining and obsessive compulsive behavior over the situation makes her even more unrelatable and unlikable.
I can't really say that I would recommend this one. Sad but true. It just has too many issues for me.
Sarah and Eddie meet and instantly fall in love with each other. They spend seven perfect days together until Sarah has to go back to LA and Eddie has to go on holiday to Spain. When they part ways and he promises he will keep in contact but never does. Sarah becomes increasingly worried that something bad has happened to him. And she may be right...
Okay first off, Rosie Walsh enough with the damn grass already! This author has a tendency to over dramatize the scenery to the point of annoyance. Seriously we've got it with the grass.
The love story is melodramatic at best and with pointless side characters and their irrelevant additions to the main storyline this makes it for less than a good read. But it was the pretty cover and the promise of a good love story that drew me in. I really need to stop judging books by their covers.
The twist at the end, though mildly surprising, was not unexpected at all. And Walsh's constant battle with other side characters storylines in the feeble attempt to twist you up even more as the reader fails even more dramatically then the love story itself.
Now let's talk about the main character shall we? Sarah is newly divorced from a 17-year long marriage and is approaching her 40s as is Eddie. For a woman of her age to get wrapped up so quickly and obsessed so profoundly over a man that she only knew for a week is a bit more than far fetched. I mean, come on! It would be more believable for a 15 year old girl to be the main character of this book rather than the 30 odd something woman that Walsh chose to write in. Despite the fact that I side with her friends and would have told her myself to just forget about the guy and move on, her incessant whining and obsessive compulsive behavior over the situation makes her even more unrelatable and unlikable.
I can't really say that I would recommend this one. Sad but true. It just has too many issues for me.

I was intrigued by the premise of this. Girl meets boy. They spend literally ONE WEEK together, and then he ghosts her. Or does he? She never hears from him again, which let’s face it, happens all the time in the dating world. (Not that it’s terribly polite.) She’s convinced something terrible has happened. Her friends are convinced he’s ghosted her and she’s being pretty darn desperate and clingy. We are left to follow her story in real time and flashback time. I was more intrigued by real time as the mystery was more compelling to me than the flashbacks� we already knew from scene one what the low down was� she was crazy in love. The author has a lovely descriptive writing voice.
Sarah (girl) lost a sister in an accident many years ago, which has affected her emotionally. The cast of secondary characters is nicely drawn. The twists as this slowly unfolds and moves into the latter part of the book were nicely done.

I've been wanting to pick this book up for months and I'm glad I finally did. I had different expectations for what it would be but that ultimately ended up not being a bad thing.
Sarah mets a man name Eddie. They have seven amazing days together and completely fall in love. Eddie needs to leave but they promise to come back together. Sarah tries to reach out to him multiple times but Eddie totally ignores and ghosts her. Sarah is totally devastated by this. Since she is so in love with him she starts to search for him - first by stalking social media. She tries messaging him over and over again with no answer. One day she gets a text from a random number "Stop trying to find Eddie." Was this from Eddie? Why is he not who he says he is? Sarah continues on the search until the truth unravels about both Sarah and Eddie and their love stories goes from perfect to twists and turns.
This book started off really slow for me. I also wanted to DNF because I wasn't really sure where it was going. I didn't know it it would just be some girl who got rejected because some guy is leading a double life and they just end up together. A lot of my fellow readers encouraged me to keep reading it as it picks up and that's exactly what happened. The second half of this book was full of some good twists and I sped through it.
I'm not really sure whether or not to classify this as a mystery or a romance so we'll just called it a Romance Mystery for now. If you are planning to read it I suggest you keep powering through past the first 100 pages. Overall it was a decent story but didn't completely WOW me.

I've been trying to digest my thoughts and I truly just didn't care for the story. And I really hate that I didn't because I wanted SO BADLY to love it.
Sarah and Eddie meet one day and hit it off instantly. After spending a week together Eddie leaves on vacation with promises to come back so they can figure out what’s going on between the two of them. The L word is even hinted so the sparks are definitely flying. Days go by and Sarah doesn’t hear from him. Has she been “ghosted� or has something horrible happened to Eddie? I mean this sounds right up my alley. It has the potential to be so amazing with a storyline so relevant with today's society. I knew I had to read it the moment I saw it. . . unfortunately, for me, the synopsis was the best part of the book.
My first complaint was that it was extremely tough to get through the first half. If a book doesn't pull me in within the first 50 pages, I should know better to just put it aside and move on. 150 pages in and I was still holding out hope that something would spark for me and I'd fall in love the story, after all, I've seen some amazing reviews for it. I struggled but kept pushing through waiting for that moment when a story just picks up and takes off. . . and it did! But just as that exciting moment came, it started going right back downhill.
I appreciated the plot twist because I did NOT see that coming at all, and I love those moments that just throw me for a loop. But I couldn't get past my dislike for the characters to make that a turning point for my negative feelings about the story. And y'all, I truly hate going after female characters in books. I think we judge ourselves and other women way too harshly at times so I guess I'll be a little hypocritical here, but I could not stand Sarah in this book. Whiny and just not a strong heroine. :( Eddie on the hand was just as dysfunctional and not very enjoyable to read. These are adults, almost 40-year-old adults, and they read like teenagers trying to navigate their first love.
The thing that really bothered me the most were the chapters with Eddie and Sarah. Their conversations and interactions were just so awkward. I didn't feel the spark that they felt and their authenticity didn’t shine through. So having two characters, main characters, that are not relatable and to me, unlikable, doesn’t help. To just say it plain and simple, I wasn't sold on their epic love story. And for this to be an instalove situation, I have to be sold on it.
The writing also threw me off. I couldn't get in the author's rhythm and found myself bored and skimming. Some situations that the author added felt so odd and forced for this type of story and I just feel that everything at the end started spiraling and ended up being way over the top.
I will add a positive and I absolutely LOVED a scene at the ending. I don’t want to spoil anyone but I felt that it was a nice touch by the author. I’m seriously so disappointed that I didn’t love this one. I have seen a lot of people rave about it so just because it wasn’t for me doesn’t mean you won’t love it. I definitely think I'm in the minority here.

Mi-a stârnit interesul titlul, curioasă fiind să descopăr povestea. Este o carte a emoțiilor, a bucuriei, tristeții și a fericirii. O poveste de viață ce are loc în Anglia, unde autoarea reușește efectiv să ne poarte. Bazată pe suspans și mister, “Bărbatul care n-a mai sunat� este asemănătoare cu un labirint. Cititorul este tot timpul în ceață, indiferent ce presupune că se va întâmpla...constată că nu se întâmplă.
Personajele mi-au plăcut, sunt reale. Cu calități și defecte, ca orice om de pe stradă. Am avut impresia că îi pot întâlni oricând.
Subiectul cărții mi-a plăcut, este ceva aparte, cu care nu te întâlnești zi de zi.
Toată cartea am avut senzația că sunt un detectiv pornit să rezolve o enigmă. O enigmă a cărei explicație este cheia întregului roman.
Mi-au plăcut cele două personaje principale. Sunt capabili de sacrificii , se pun pe ei înșiși pe locul doi...în ziua de azi nu prea mai vezi așa ceva. Sunt capabili să sufere în tăcere, să-și accepte vine și să facă tot posibilul pentru a fi fericiți. Până la final am fost convinsă că situația lor nu are nici o rezolvare.
Am avut parte de o poveste incredibilă! O poveste de dragoste imposibilă, o lecție de viață, suspans cât cuprinde!
Singurul minus al cărții a fost coperta, care nu atrage vizual atenția. Dacă o văd pe raft, nu mă face să iau cartea în mână. În rest... am avut parte de o lectură captivantă!

Ghosted started out so strong and slowly turned into a tedious and uninteresting mess. In it, Sarah meets a wonderful man Eddie, and spends seven blissful days with him. When they part at the end of that time, she knows it's love and he agrees. But then he disappears, never answering her calls or efforts to reach out.
The premise is interesting enough, but what follows is a long and mostly pointless story that is equal parts boring and odd. When Eddie disappears, Sarah is certain that he loves her and would never ignore her unless something bad has happened. But instead of going to the police or just stopping by his place, she online stalks him and badgers his friends. But when she's close to an answer, she runs away instead.
This book is filled with so much irrelevant padding, including long and bland backstories of every single side character. Each is having their own crisis, which is described in excruciating detail. It doesn't help that everyone acts like loonies by being melodramatic and making mountains out of molehills. Every setting, every thought, every action, every visual is explained to us in excessive detail. If it can be said in one sentence, the author said it in five. At some point, I just started skimming through the paragraphs.
At its heart, this book just didn't know what it wants to be. Is it a domestic thriller about the disappearance of a man, or a romance about love overcoming odds, or a composite of separate stories about different people whose lives are loosely intertwined? Instead we end up with a dull, awkward, rambling pile. Yes, there is a twist, but I wasn't invested enough by that point to care. It's too bad such an intriguing premise turned into such a dud.

What a fantastic read! Probably one of my favorite books thus far this year!
I will say that I did go into this book expecting a psychological Thriller of some sorts, for those of you all that are expecting that it may not be the best book for you as it was a little bit of a mystery but overall I felt like it was more of a romance...don't get me wrong the mystery elements and the reveal at the end were great and it added to my overall feeling of the book, but there was nothing dark and twisted about it, not really. This was one of those books that I could relate a lot too, as I have been in the dating game and unfortunately been 'ghosted' a few times, which is very crushing! The fact that I can empathize with our protagonist, and wanting to know why she was in fact ghosted kept me turning the pages, rarely wanting to put it down once I picked it up! Normally with romances or even thrillers I feel like at least one of the characters is incredibly annoying or unrelatable but not so with this one, I felt like all of the characters motivations and actions were completely understandable and therefore made me find them all very likeable. The ending was very satisfying to me, which is saying a lot as I'm usually left wanting more, so this put the book in a rare five-star read category for me. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys light Mysteries or romances with a mystery element to them. I cannot wait to see what type of novel Rosie Walsh follows this one up with!

Their time is cut short by a long planned holiday overseas, but both vow to reconnect upon return. Only the phone call that is meant to reconnect them is never made. Ghosted is the latest absorbing love story from Rosie Walsh, who has previously written under the name of Lucy Robinson.
Touted as a book for Jojo Moyes or Jane Green fans, Ghosted introduces us to the writing of Rosie Walsh, who has a number of other books under her belt, published in the name of Lucy Robinson, her pseudonym. Walsh also has a background in the blogging sphere, working for Marie Claire, where she touched on topics such a love and dating. All this has put her in good standing to release a new novel under her own name and it is a beauty at that. Ghosted is about finally making that leap, delving head first into the love of your life, only to have it all whipped away � after only six days together. Sarah finds herself bereft and in a state of both longing and confusion, when the man of her dreams, Eddie, fails to contact her after a booked holiday. All sorts of scenarios are conjured up in Sarah’s mind, but after a relentless search, Eddie cannot and perhaps does not want to be located. As Sarah tries to move on with her life, she cannot shake Eddie’s silence and the real reason for his distance. When the truth is discovered it rocks the very foundations of Sarah’s world.
If I could issue an award to the most surprising novel of the year it would be this one, hands down. Ghosted is a book that taught me a lesson about not judging a book by its cover, author endorsements and blurb. I have to admit that I wasn’t terribly excited at all going into reading this book. Of late, I have struggled to connect to British chick lit, the genre this book seems to be compared against. However, Ghosted sure does take the cake for the novel that startled me. I wasn’t expecting to love this book to the degree to which I did. I will attempt to illuminate why I adored his novel and why ever since reading it I have been sharing it around with my book worm friends!
Ghosted initially reads as a fairly standard British chick lit style love story. Boy and girl meet, fall in love and we are swept away for six love filled days with the leads of this novel. Then it all comes plummeting down in quite the dramatic fashion. With promises made to call and reunite once Eddie reaches his holiday destination, all hope seems to be lost. No matter how hard she tries, Sarah cannot get hold of Eddie, all sorts of scenarios bounce around in her mind, which we as the reader are privy to. Then we learn of the real significance of the title of the story, Ghosted refers to someone who blocks contact with another, so all tempts by phone and social media are refused. It is a concept I only just introduced to thanks to this book.
Although the love story sequences between Eddie and Sarah are relatively short, we still feel completely invested in their love story. I genuinely felt devastated for Sarah and her ‘ghosting� by Eddie. Initially I thought this book was going to take a supernatural element, by I was way off the mark! There are some wonderful twists to Ghosted, which I refuse to discuss in any form of detail as I would feel terrible if I ruined this book for anyone. What I will say is that when the dots are joined together, everything kind of makes sense. I know I did a great big ‘ah� sigh when I realised what I had missed. Rosie Walsh is one clever author, who not only diverted my attention elsewhere, but she also served to draw me into chick lit again! But I would much prefer to class Ghosted as a ‘life lit� style novel.
I do apologise if I come across as vague, but I feel Ghosted is one of those novels that slots nicely into a ‘do not discuss� category, due to the nature of the plot and the twists that occur. But what I will stress is this is a book that delivers. Ghosted is a fine domestic based family drama. It is also an everlasting love story that puts a great big spotlight on the role of fate in our lives, as well as our ability to forgive and forget.

March 4, 2018Some books are entertaining, some books are affecting and some, like this one, creep under your skin, travel through your veins and settle in your heart. I'm writing this review feeling as though I have lived another life and sudden woken up in a new one - that's how deeply immersed I was in The Man Who Didn't Call (or Ghosted as it's called in the U.S.) I could write about the mystery at the heart of this book and the many brilliant twists that I didn't see coming (VERY rare) but what will stay with me, and the reason I cried when I finished this book, is the absolutely stunning way Rosie Walsh writes about love, forgiveness and redemption. There is so much truth and heart in this book. It sings out from beyond the mystery and the plot and I know, just KNOW that this book will be a mega bestseller. When people talk about powerful, moving million copy selling books like ONE DAY and ME BEFORE YOU they will also add THE MAN WHO DIDN'T CALL. I absolutely loved it.

I read this book in a day... I just had to know what happened with Eddie!
I got to say, I was with Sarah for the first half of the book. We've all been there, right? But then she lost me. Continuing to message him and then to show up at the soccer game was just too much. A grown-ass woman should not behave that way. That's when I started to get annoyed with her. And to be so obsessed that she lets everything else in her life get messed. That's the behavior of a 16 year girl with her first love... not an adult.
BUT my annoyance was short-lived because the story took a turn I was not expecting! Great twist, great ending. I felt all different kinds of ways reading this book. I did wish there was more of a wrap-up at the end though.
4.5 stars rounded up! Great read!
