Dan Brown

Dan Brown is the author of numerous #1 bestselling novels, including The Da Vinci Code, which has become one of the best selling novels of all time as well as the subject of intellectual debate among readers and scholars. Brown’s novels are published in 56 languages around the world with over 200 million copies in print.

In 2005, Brown was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by TIME Magazine, whose editors credited him with “keeping the publishing industry afloat; renewed interest in Leonardo da Vinci and early Christian history; spiking tourism to Paris and Rome; a growing membership in secret societies; the ire of Cardinals in Rome; eight books denying the claims of the novel and seven guides to read along with it; a flood of historical thrillers; and a major motion picture franchise.

The son of a mathematics teacher and a church organist, Brown was raised on a prep school campus where he developed a fascination with the paradoxical interplay between science and religion. These themes eventually formed the backdrop for his books. He is a graduate of Amherst College and Phillips Exeter Academy, where he later returned to teach English before focusing his attention full time to writing. He lives in New England with his yellow lab, Winston.

Brown’s latest novel, Origin, explores two of the fundamental questions of humankind: Where do we come from? Where are we going?

This book was amazing and at every turn, something unexpected happened. By the end of the book, you have to learn to expect the unexpected. It was an amazing book and I had a lot of fun trying to figure out what they are searching for and where it is before Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveu. Overall this book was almost perfect. There were a few parts that you think that Dan Brown messed up on, but ended up tying into the story 200 pages later. If you don't pay attention to every detail you might miss something important. If you are going to read this book I suggest that when you do you pay attention to every detail because in this book every detail matters.

Almost 20 years after it was published, I finally got around to reading The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Now I understand why it caused such a sensation, was made into a film, and spawned other novels. It’s a very involved tale, part art history, part religious theory, part murder mystery, and it covers a surprising amount of ground in a day’s time.

I love learning while being entertained, and this book exposed to a lot of ideas that I’d never pondered before. It gave me a board view of a controversial topic while throwing a lot of intense action into the mix. I felt the story stalled out halfway through when it dwelled too long on religious theories, and I debated whether I would finish it or not. Once the story got past that point, the action and plot twists got back on track and held my attention to the very satisfying finish. All in all, it’s an amazing achievement, worthy of all the praise.

A race against time to try to catch a killer but could the killer be closer to home than anyone could guess. Robert Langdon is the man you need to solve the rising puzzle pieces left throughout some beautiful cities around the world. With a conspiracy, a killer, a ton of suspense and a clock that is tcking down Robert has his work cut out for him. This captivating and thrilling tale is fast-paced, action-packed and will have your heart pounding as the puzzle pieces are unravled one layer at a time.

It is an addictive read.

From the intricate details of Leonardo Da Vinci's art to ingenious encryption methods, everything is exceptional. As a thriller, Dan Brown composed it so brilliantly that it kept me rooted to the story till the last page.

The story tracks the journey of Robert Langdon, a Harvard professor of religious symbology, who is falsely indicted of murdering the curator of Louvre. He eventually finds out that the victim was a member of Priory Of Sion, an organization which has been guarding a secret historical truth about the Holy Grail for centuries. Langdon and Sophie Neveu, a cryptologist and grand daughter of the victim, embark on a quest to unveil this truth. The encrypted messages from the victim lead them to the clues hidden in the artworks of Leonardo Da Vinci which explains the book title. They compete against all odds to decipher the clues and reach the secret before it's too late.

The plot is well crafted with an unforgettable cast of characters and carefully planned events. A great read for thriller lovers.

Bit late to the phase but it is a great book taking place over a day, but takes much longer than that to read. Occasionally hard to get back into until the next apparent plot twist emerges. Loved trying to figure out the seemingly obvious clues along the way

( "The Bible is a product of man, my dear. Not of God. The Bible did not fall magically from the clouds. Man created it as a historical record of tumultuous times, and it has evolved through countless translations, additions, and revisions. History has never had a definitive version of the book.)

( "Jesus Christ was a historical figure of staggering influence, perhaps the most enigmatic and inspirational leader the world has ever seen. As the prophesied Messiah, Jesus toppled kings, inspired millions, and founded new philosophies. As a descendant of the lines of King Solomon and King David, Jesus possessed a rightful claim to the throne of the King of the Jews. Understandably, His life was recorded by thousands of followers across the land More than eighty gospels were considered for the New Testament, and yet only a relative few were chosen for inclusion—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John among them …The fundamental irony of Christianity! The Bible, as we know it today, was collated by the pagan Roman emperor Constantine the Great." )

( Constantine was a lifelong pagan who was baptized on his deathbed, too weak to protest. In Constantine's day, Rome's official religion was sun worship—the cult of Sol Invictus, or the Invincible Sun—and Constantine was its head priest. Unfortunately for him, a growing religious turmoil was gripping Rome. Three centuries after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, Christ's followers had multiplied exponentially. Christians and pagans began warring, and the conflict grew to such proportions that it threatened to rend Rome in two. Constantine decided something had to be done. In 325 A.D., he decided to unify Rome under a single religion. Christianity. Constantine was a very good businessman. He could see that Christianity was on the rise, and he simply backed the winning horse. Historians still marvel at the brilliance with which Constantine converted the sun-worshipping pagans to Christianity. By fusing pagan symbols, dates, and rituals into the growing Christian tradition, he created a kind of hybrid religion that was acceptable to both parties." )
