This book is based round Google Website Optimizer, but these guys clearly know what they're talking about and most of it would probably be applicable to any other suitably featured optimisation tool.
The first half explains an the overall testing process and gives you the mental framework to use it and adapt it to your needs. The second half then drills down into various different aspects of a site that you might want to test and optimise.
Both halves clearly benefit from a lot of experience - this is not stuff you could put together by reading a bunch of blogs and tweets!
I recommend it if you want to be the one who knows what they're talking about on optimisation.
This was really two books. The first half was a very insightful and necessary introduction to Google Website Optimizer. The second half seemed a re-hash of Eisenberg's other books. This was annoying because he didn't cover a lot of the stuff that I was looking to learn about Website Optimizer and instead had lots of filler. 3 stars for the useful info that was there but this one could have been a lot better...
A bit antiquated and the stuff on the GO tool in general is worthless as that tool is soon to be killed but the general food for thought on various tweaks and levers you can pull to influence optimization are still relevant.
My husband read this book and said it was very informative and interesting. A great reference for people interested in learning about and utilizing Google Website Optimizer.
A bit out of date and the Google Optimiser is no longer around. Still a good check list and ideas for testing a variety of different items on your site.
