The concepts in this book ring true with practical, applicable advice, and Matthews's lucid writing and witty stories help bring his message into sharp focus.
It is about doing what you love, dealing with bills and disasters, discovering your own power, and finding peace of mind. Start down the road to changing your life because as Matthews says: "Our mission in life is not to change the world--our mission is to change ourselves."
This will always be my favourite Self - Help book of all time! :) This book inspired me to change for the better to remain positive and be the person I am today and Im sure u all will enjoy it as much as I did! :)
My mom bought this and she doesn't know how much it helped me through the teenage years, especially when it came to controlling my anger. Andrew Matthews is definitely my mom's favorite author. The Vietnamese title of this book is as well beautiful- "Life changes when you change", simple as that.
---- Can't believe the book was published when I was 3...Hmm.
instead of talking about its contents, I will talk about what I learnt from the book...
life is a series a lessons, it stopped me categorising things as good or bad, and made me feel more gratitude for my life. It also made me value ordinary things, and that we all lead different meaningful lives, and we aren't promised to be millionaires after reading. It feels more personal.
The book serves as gentle advice in my opinion. It does not magically tell you that your depression will be cured tomorrow. I think if people have read this and expected a magic wand to immediately shift their life, then they read it wrong.
I do now believe that things and people have some sort of energy around them, you can feel things like desperation, I think people take it too literally, but this 'feeling' is probably conveyed through body language, remarks, mannerisms, I believe our subconscious picks up on it.
I used to visualise my ice skating performances before I competed, like he said, and I won a large majority of my competitions, and never placed low.
I'm waffling now anyway, but I really love this book.
A boost of motivation for living more in peace with ourselves and enjoying more life. A happy book with all those life advice that you may know already from all other books about life, relationships, mindfulness, spiritually etc etc 鈽猴笍
Basically, the book points out the flaws in our daily excuses. Reading this book in the last days of the year is like a self-revision with all the lessons I personally recognized these years, not too lengthy, just one short story for each claim. Suitable short book to get out of reading slump too
Absolutely loved this book! It highlights such simple concepts of life in a beautiful way that it makes us ponder. It will surely be my go to book in times of need!
There is a smattering of good advice in here but it gets lost in the dated and out of touch cartoons and advice, this book did not age very well. The advice waffles between mindfulness and the law of attraction which, although often shoehorned together, are in my opinion oil and water. This book brought to mind a pyramid scheme sales pitch or a cringey motivational speaker you'd be forced to listen to at work. Work REALLY REALLY REALLY hard and don't EVER complain or ask any questions and you'll be rewarded for your efforts we promise. Let's just stuff all those "bad/negative" emotions down and pretend like they don't exist because if we talk about them you might catch "negativity" like it's the flu or something and you might be sad and no one wants to be around a sad person, remember HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY it's the only acceptable way to be so force a smile on your face and when someone says jump your enthusiastic response is always how high. As I said there were bits and pieces of good advice in here such as you can't run from your problems as they tend to follow you wherever you go (although depends on the problem sometimes running is exactly what you need to do). The importance of just starting somewhere rather than getting overwhelmed by the big picture, and being patient results aren't instantaneous. Overall though this book is a waste of time and there are vastly better books out there which take reality into consideration that are much more deserving of your time.
5/5猸愶笍 Nunca hab铆a le铆do un libro de autoayuda que me llamara tanto la atenci贸n como lo hizo este. Excelente libro, ayuda de una manera u otra a ver las cosas de manera diferente.
Follow Your Heart is a must read book. An easy read with funny illustrations which make you keep reading and relate to it. It actually helps you appreciate life more and teaches you to love yourself and others, to find solutions for problems instead of nagging and to be grateful. (Highly Recommend!)
Love it so much. Even though I've finished it, sometimes I still randomly open it and have a short read. It's easy to read. The author has got sense of humour. You can also get a few laughs from his illustrations in the book.
