Serious silliness for all ages. Artist Sandra Boynton is back and better than ever with completely redrawn versions of her multi-million selling board books. These whimsical and hilarious books, featuring nontraditional texts and her famous animal characters, have been printed on thick board pages, and are sure to educate and entertain children of all ages.

My 1 year old likes this book so much that I know the whole book by heart! My favorite part is Lions leaving as my little girlie is a Leo (Lioness) who is constantly leaving (running away from me! Hahah)
Very cute, sweet, fun, and short. I love Boynton's art style. The roundness of her characters intrigue babies and the flowing rhymes make it easy for mommy or daddy to read to them. One of the best for starting your child's early education. We started reading this to our son when he was about 3 months old and had to buy another when his sister was born. Congratulations to all you new parents out there! Lots of Love, shizuku
Another wonderful Sandra Boynton book with everything we love about her, especially the adorable illustrations! From A to Z, we see animals doing fun things to help convey alliteration to readers. And my 3 yr old twins, who are learning not only their alphabet, but the sounds that go with the alphabet letters, love this book. A great way to reinforce the letter sounds in a fun and engaging way. A big hit with our family.
Good book with some new words to learn that I hadn't heard before! Fun pictures. Gave it 4 stars because, as with any alphabet book at the moment, I usually can only sit still until about the letter K.
This is a small board book filled with animals doing various things. The book begins from A and goes to Z and each letter is represented by an animal doing something. The letters are in capital letters on the page (usually 2 letters to a page) and sometimes the letter is part of the action and sometimes, it’s not. For example, the letter M it states - MOOSE MOWING - the picture is a moose mowing the green letter M which has grass growing on it. The letter D it states - DINOSAUR DANCING - the picture is a green dinosaur dancing through a red D.
I liked that the alphabet letters were all capital letters and there were only 2 to one page. This was consistent and didn't over crowd the page. The illustrations were cute and the letters were bright and colorful and the animals weren't which made the letters stand out. I liked the vocabulary used in the text. I was disappointed in a few of the letters: V, X,U after all the rest of the letter were creative and something children could relate to. It will help little ones enhance their learning by using words such as jackal, admiring, zigzagging, nesting, etc. My grandson loves his ABC's, I can't wait to see how he likes this book.
copyright:1984 Number of pages: 8 Format: Hardcover reading level: Grades preK-1 genre: Baby book Lit. requirement: ABC #2
Summary: This is a simple quick read and will be entertaining to babies and toddlers. It is a board book and there are three letters per page. There are two words for the start of a letter the first word are animals and the second word is an action. The words are alliterations for example C is for Cats Cleaning.
Response: I like this book because of how simple it is and because of what some of the animals are like Uglybirds being ugly for U. Some of the animals are made up. This is an entertaining book and I would recommend it.
Most of this book is cute. It helps teach ABC's. My only two quips are 1. "U: Ugly Birds Being Ugly" is the least creative caption ever. Especially when "V: Vicuña Violining" follows, which is creative. 2. The "P" isn't all the way "painted" on so my toddler thinks it's the letter "I" and it does kind of look like the letter "I."
Note: this is not my review but the review of my daughter who can't have her own goodreads but does love herself a book! Therefore I will be writing them for her. She is currently 6 months old.
Mom thought this was hilarious (especially the ugly bird) but baby was unimpressed. Will revisit when older.
"Aardvarks admiring. Beavers ballooning. Cats cleaning." Each letter of the alphabet includes an animal and an action with cute, cartoony illustrations that are expected from Sandra Boynton. It's short and simple enough that it is great for little ones just familiarizing themselves with the alphabet.
For U, the animal is Ugly birds being ugly. Maybe I am being overly picky, and you would not care, but when kids are learning some of their first words, I do not think ugly should make the cut. I wish Sandra would do a revised addition with a replacement for this letter. We have the book, and no longer read it after I saw U.
Probably my favorite Sandra Boynton book we have read so far. Each letter features, a different animal, doing a different activity, and the combinations are pretty creative and often surprising. Illustrations are cute too.
Since Jack likes animals, he seem to like this book. I’m excited to see how he feels about it when he starts learning letters.
This book exposes children to the alphabet. It uses familiar animals with the same starting letter. Then a descriptor word that also starts with the same letter as well. So, it has alliteration. The pictures help the students make the connections between something they know and the new letters. I would use this book as a library book that students could use for exposure to the alphabet.
This is a good alphabet book including lots of animals, alliterations, and gerunds (noun-like verbs that end in -ing such as 'jumping'). The illustrations are in the classic Sandra Boynton style with each animal performing the action being described (e.g. "Cats Cleaning" shows an illustration of two cats cleaning the 'C'). It's a nice, simple alphabet book.
Sandra Boynton has a pretty good gig going, writing and illustrating books with her trademark rotund, big-eyed animals. It's hard to rate an ABC book, but this one has cute pictures of animals doing alliterative activities for each letter of the alphabet.
I definitely consider this a classic for your child's bookshelf - regardless of the intention and purpose of your library, a good solid book about the alphabet is a necessity!
Another fabulous addition to the collection of ABC books. This one from the ever-humorous Sandra Boynton. Also can be used to teach alliteration and rhyming.
