Taste My Wrath

Rate this book
A dead earth, a handful of survivors, and a game that could wipe out humanity.

I was one of the few humans to be saved by the shining ones. Powerful beings who came from the stars just in time to stop the annihilation of mankind.

But they’ve been here before.

Earth was once their home and humanity has another name for them. Fae.

Now we live in iron cities paying for haven as workers and conscripted warriors.

We owe them after all.

Until they ask too much.

The Regency Tournament is about to begin. A test of prowess for the shining ones to determine which House will rule their people for the next century.

And we humans? We’re the prey.

But I didn’t survive earths almost destruction to be hunted like a beast.

If I’m going to go down, then I’ll be taking these pointy eared wankers with me.

And I have an advantage. A shadow companion—protective but tough. My mentor has trained me in the art of survival. With his smooth dulcet tones in my head, and his shadowy form at my back, I’ll no longer be prey.

And when I hunt the shining ones, they won’t even see me coming.

I gave up on DB after ending. Just thinking about it is annoying, why was death in that harem for real. Where did he come from.

Anyway, I digress. I thought this book would be something different , I thought wrong.

Spoilers below

The heroine in this book is in a land ruled by people like the Fae, they have to work for scraps in this society because they are not given any food and are sometimes hunted down by the Fae. Our heroine is part of the guard, they do get some leeway but not much. She is also a super badass fighter and like all of them in a society like this, she has a secret identity, she uses her talents to steal food from the rich and gives it to the poor. She goes on with her miserable life.

Things are about to get worse for her, the little privilege she had as a guard is rescinded. Her family usually was exempt from the Hunt by the fae but now there is a mandate that all must participate in the lottery. Even though there are hundreds of people in the city her sister who is crippled is picked. The rest of the family of those not participating are given a sleeping draught so they don't see what's going on with the Hunt. Dani, our heroine, is not about to let her younger sister go out and not be see again, she follows her and they hide to wait out the Hunt. Things don't go as planned and her sister is taken.

Dani is relentless in finding her sister. Luckily for her, there is a game between the various courts, participants can volunteer or be picked randomly. Dannika volunteers as tribute, finally the chance to see her sister. She is partnered with some other people from her guard as well. Their family will be compensated with provisions while they are on this endevour.

While The Hunger Games go on she somehow finds a pretty cool weapon which talks to her and makes her invincible against the fae warriors and princes alike, she is able to kill two princes and save the life of one of them. She is invited to the courts with some flashy title to make up for it.

Honestly there was no point to this book, I know she was trying to find her sister but that was it. We are told the Fae are bad but they didn't really do anything that made them bad. In fact, most of the people she stole from were humans who were hoarding the resources that were supposed to be distributed.

I didn't like it , the hero wasn't able to sway me either. He was as good as a ghost, which is what he kinda was. I don't think I am going to read the next book.

First Book of 2021, First DNF
I have lasted all of 5.5 pages into the book. I think I have broken my own record.*champagne*

You know, I love romance, I ADORE romance, really, I DO.
But, (there is a but), with this book, I have finally stumbled into a land, I would have sworn that I did everything to not stumble upon, especially for my first 2021 pick.
The land of Cheesiness

I mean look at this book cover ! Let's read the first line of the blurb together :
"A dead earth, a handful of survivors, and a game that could wipe out humanity." !
I was promised Badassery. I was promised to having to suffer through Mary Sue level of decision-making and shitty snarky repartee because u'know the girl was going to be "DAT (generic) cynical b**ch".
And you know what, I embraced it.
I was going into this book eyes wide open. But did this book deliver ?
It did not. Or it did too much.

Let's look at this master class of how to lose your audience(me) in less than 6 pages :

Exhibit 1 :
PAGE TWO
Girl does not know how to get her priority straight. Girl is about to splash and die, but her brain can not process the urgency of focusing on her survival because this just happened :
"and then a hand grasped my butt to steady me.
“Watch your footing, dammit, Killion chided."

So instead of trying to connect her brain cells, our Girl:
"I was too busy willing my ears to not catch fire because he was touching my ass."

And since she was lost to reality and blind to her own survival anyway, she had to follow her still-going blushing episode by swooning about his eyes.
Exhibit 2 : "I didn’t need to look down to know that his bright blue eyes would be blazing with annoyance. Those eyes spoke a thousand words, and they were literally all I could see of him."
Yes, dear author, that was REALLY the most appropriate moment to describe to us his magical, soulful blue eyes. How could we have survived 1 minute more without knowing this game-changing detail.

Girl still in the middle of a dangerous mission, still does not give a f*ck, since LITERALLY one line later, that was our Girl :
Exhibit 3
"My stomach bloomed with a warm feeling he seemed to elicit lately"

After a lovely info dump intermission, back we are again :

Girl starts developing clear symptoms of a seizure due to an anaphylactic shock to him.
I mean what else could it be ?

Exhibit 4 : PARALYSIS
"I felt pressure on my shoulder. His hand. He was touching me. He rarely, if ever, touched me. I froze, not wanting to breathe too heavily or too shallow. Not wanting him to take his hand away."

oupsy, she was just mooning over him : "Being touched by Killion was a gift. It was warmth and security, and something else I wasn’t ready to define."

ONE LINE LATER

Exhibit 5 : NAUSEA
"“How is it you know my schedule better than me?
“Because I care, he said softly.
My stomach quivered. “Jeez, thanks."

I completely understand this all nausea-quivering mess, I mean, the Guy went from distant cold blue eyes thingy to popping out of nowhere, and out of context, sweet nothing with a " soft" voice.
Witnessing someone going 180 would cause vertigo to anyone.

NOT EVEN ONE LINE LATER

Girl is about to faint because she is going to be in the same enclosed space as him :
Exhibit 6 : SPIRALING THOUGHTS
"“How about we take the quick route down? he offered.
Was he offering to transport me?
Once.
That’s how many times he’d done this. Once, six months ago, when we’d first come up here, and I’d run those five seconds through my mind again and again for weeks afterward."

FOLLOWED by Exhibit 7 : HEART PALPITATIONS
"My heart did a badum badum of excitement"

մǾà.
That was the last straw.
Exhibit 4 to Exhibit 7 happened in the space of ONE PAGE.
In this book honor, the least I could do was to create a bookshelf named "cheesy".
I have never carried the hope of one day having to be met with circumstances forcing blessing me with the opportunity of creating this tag. I would not be greedy and carry any hope of having to add another book in this bookshelf. (please T-T)

ALSO :

My diagnosis as a book doctor is that the author should send GIRL to consult a specialist that would prescribe an antihistamine treatment to reduce her severe allergic symptoms to Guy.
It does sound very worrying.

Taste My Wrath is the first book of The Iron Fae series by Debbie Cassidy and it is impressive. It's set in a world where the people exist solely because the Fae are their saviors... or so the propaganda tells them.

The FMC is a guard who has a shadow mentor named Killion. He has taught her many things. She is kind of like Robin Hood stealing food and feeding families using her skills.

The Fae use humans to satisfy their need for entertainment by hunting them periodically. In a sense, the hunt... it's like Hunger Games, but so much worse. Then volunteers are requested to decide who will retain control of the area where they live. The FMC volunteers and the rest is a fast paced, heart stopping, page turning story that left me ready for the next book.

This is MF paranormal/sci-fi. The world building is incredible, the characters endearing, and the plot is unforgettable.

This is an honest review provided for an ARC of the book.

Dear Future Mile,
Remember when you bought the second book because you thought this was something else? This is why past, and not so wise, Mile has started reviewing books. Stop it.

I mean this book was okay. It had all the elements and Hunger Games similarities you love. Unnecessary human sacrifices? Admit it..sometimes you like it. (maybe Thanos had a point?)

I digress. The heroine is kick-ass, she's witty, smart, and wields a sword like a badass. So why didn't you love it?
-the heroine has a link to a shadow man, man shadow? Anyways, creepy.
-She goes through all of the trials like a pro. Yass girl.
-Gets revenge by killing a lot of bad guys like a pro. Yass girl.
-Breaks into their "hive" and tries to steal their best weapon. Yass girl.
-Spoiler, comes out of the games a champion! (obviously there wouldn't be a book two) Yass girl!
-The ending, just so...so lackluster? The weapon just leaves and will be back? Umm okay?

Wait a minute, all of that sounds pretty good. So why wasn't this a five star review? Honestly, I don't know. You like it but you don't. For past you, something's missing, or you're just confused with what you want. (most likely) uhh.

Sincerely,
Past, and not so wise, Mile

Debbie Cassidy delivers ANOTHER amazing story! I think I can say safely that this is my favorite one so far! Debbie Cassidy knows how to write great characters and how to write a book that will keep her readers glued to the pages until the very end and leaves us begging for more. She has started a new series off with a bang and I am blown away by the characters and this whole story. Book one has set us up for what is to come in upcoming books, and it will be a rollercoaster. Debbie has created a world that comes alive and the characters burst from the pages.

Danika is a great FMC. She is tough, deadly, and full of mystery. Who or what is she? Where did she come from and how can she do what she can do? She is fiercely loyal and protective of her family and those around her. She has this unbreakable bond with the mysterious Killion that leads her to be stronger and braver than she probably should be.

Killion is a deadly force and not to be reckoned with. He is a man of few words but has a presence that will not be ignored. You get only a few glimpses of him through the book that tease you and leaves you wanting/needing to learn more, especially with that ending! He is completely invested in Danika but why? What is their past and where does their connection come from?

This book has fantastic supporting characters that help bring this book to life. I can not say much else because no spoilers allowed!! This book is a bit of a touch of hunger games whilst crossing with GOT-DO NOT GET COMPLACENT OR ATTACHED!

I can't wait to see where we go in the next book...What are the Winter Princes up to, how are Dani’s family, who exactly is Killion, and what is his link to Danika? So many questions...bring on book 2, like now!!!!!

Well this was just bloody fantastic!

Debbie is just one of those authors for me where I love what she does in her books. Her heroines are brave, loyal, vulnerable but also amazingly strong and I really rooted for Dannika from the start to the end of this.

This is a great Urban Fantasy read. Think aspects of The Hunger Games, only the oppressors are the Fae who have come from another realm and live on a giant spaceship. Dannika fights to feed her community and has her own family and younger sisters to protect, and they like in the poverty stricken outskirts of the capital. Luckily Dannika has the enigmatic Killian a...man, or humanoid creature who is made if darkness and saved her life and taught her to fight. He has her back and there are definite sparks going on there.

I really liked Killian and I am really intrigued by the events of the end if the book and figuring out his story. I am also intrigued by Aspen, but we will see what his motivations are in the next book.

This another great Urban Fantasy (this one isn't RH) read by the amazing Debbie and I highly recommend!

Survival of the Fae

This book had a hunger games vibe with a twist and two enigmatic men who are keeping secrets from her. Dani is fighting for her life and the people she loves but there is a hidden agenda. Killion is not only cloaked in darkness, he does not reveal his past. The Winter prince is hiding something and Dani has to fight her way through the maze to save her sister, but whose side is he really on. If you can even believe the word of the Fae to begin with, Dani is in big trouble and just can't seem to walk away from danger, she runs straight in.

Just wow!!

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again - Debbie Cassidy is the QUEEN!!!!!!

I absolutely love every single female main character she writes and Danika is no exception. From the second sentence I knew she was going to be smart, tough with a compassionate heart and a total badass. And cheers for Killion 😍😍 and perhaps Aspen?? Who knew horns would do it for me? And let’s not forget Magnus.

So Dani lives in a world ruled by the fae. The fae came to her planet in generations past and stopped humankind from annihilating each other. For this they are considered saviors and humans are indebted to them for this reason. However, the fae demand the humans compliance to their laws in exchange for remaining their so-called saviors. But the fae aren’t saviors. They could care less about humans. The fae use the humans for sport. They control everything including what jobs people have, what books they can read and overtly oppress them to the point of starvation. It is a dictatorship and humankind are prey to natural born predators. Dani knows this is all wrong. She sees them for who they really are and not the benevolent saviors they pretend to be but she can’t speak out or she risks her and her family being punished. We are introduced to this world and join Dani as she navigates the ever-changing rules of her fae oppressors while trying to keep her family safe.

This book took me for a ride. I could not put it down. I make a point of not reading any blurbs for Debbie Cassidy books. Once I see her name it’s an automatic buy and let the magic of her books unfold. So at the very beginning I was trying to figure out the rules of this new world we’re introduced to but it quickly found its way and I was set to go. Man I loved this! I loved the portrayal of the fae as true villains. Yes they’re still beautiful but yay for actually going there and not giving us sappy/romantic creatures that make me want to tear my eyes out at how perfect they are. There’s so much to unpack and so much going on outside of the main character. I want to know more about Auntiji. What about Magnus and Karl’s revelation? Are we going to see more from Rav? And what did Killion mean at the end of the book? And what’s up with the bleak?

Now I’ll admit - some parts reminded me of plot lines from a particularly well-known young adult series that I won’t name. It was just as brutal and I keep asking are they being watched? Will someone send her lifeline? Despite all of that I still felt like story was fresh and new. Debbie Cassidy does a great job building this book’s world. It doesn’t feel rushed at all. So much happens but I never felt it was dragging. Without spoiling anything there were definitely a couple of things that stood out to me as being out of place. Spicy hot wings? And a couple of things happened that I felt were glaring clues to Danika that she should have followed up on but I guess they might play a factor in book 2. So the book kind of ends in a cliff/hanger but not where I was left fuming at the author’s irresponsibility but in a place that felt natural to continue in book 2.

Overall, excellent book as always. I hate that I have to wait so many months for the next one but what can you do? *shrugs* Suffice it to say Debbie Cassidy has a lifelong fan in me.

Debbie Cassidy has a talent for bringing original stories with engaging plots to the table, and this new adventure is no different.

19 year old Danika has grown up in a world 'saved' by the Shining Ones, condemned to peddle her gratitude for another day living by accepting a government assigned library job and patrolling the grounds as a part-time guard against the Bleak. It's hardly glamorous, and it doesn't quite pay the bills or put food on the table, but she has other ways of doing that... ways that give her an edge when the rulers on High flex their muscles and call The Regency Games.

Fast paced, deadly and wholly mysterious, this book weaves myth with a Dystopian feel, crafting a plot that flows at a break neck speed, yet still allows the characters room to be discovered by the reader. In other words, it's a great Urban Fantasy sure to please.

**I received an ARC of this book and I am thrilled to share my honest opinion**

Pros:
~ The hints of foreshadowing... those are going to play out well.
~ Killion, ok - no spoilers here, but WHAT??!
~ Dani's dedication and grit. Great character Building.
~ I want that sword.
~ Little bit of a hunger games feel, without the oppressive YA ambiance.

Cons:
~ Some of the world building was opaque, but that should become clearer as the books stack.

Perspective:
~ 1st Person, Single POV

Ending Type:
~ Episodic. Ends on a 'Now what?' moment.

Rating:
~ PG-15 atm, may become R later on?

Romantic Dynamic:
~ M/F

Character Age Range:
~ 19+

Taste My Wrath is book one in a new urban fantasy adventure set in a dystopian world with a post-apocalyptic flare and a M/F slow burn romance. This book snags your attention from the very beginning as Cassidy builds a new world full of excitement, intrigue, mystery, and suspense and loads the pages with adventure, humor, action, danger, and a tease of romance.

The characters, as always, are fantastic; the main female character, Danika (Dani) is strong, determined, and full of heart, wit, and snark. She is a protector and a champion who works in the shadows to help those who cannot help themselves. She helps support her family and is devoted to her community and friends and she also “sees the wrongs and the subterfuge hidden by those in power the shining ones, while most everyone else remains under their influence and compliant to their rules. After all, they did save what was left of the human race from annihilation but it came with a price, though few can see or understand the cost of that survival. When they go a step too far and “invite her younger sister to partake in their games, she steps in to help. She will not lose another sibling to the shining one’s wretched games for entertainment and though actually her older brother did survive, he came back broken and the shell of the young man he once was. This will not happen to her sister, not on her watch! Yet when circumstances happen and she is taken anyway, Dani volunteers to be part of their horrid blood-match to gain access to her sister. She is smart, has many hidden talents, and can kick some serious a**. She will survive, she will win, and she will rescue her sister.

Killion, her mentor, enters with a flare of mystery and holds this status throughout the book. He only appears in shadow form so Dani never actually sees him, except for the occasional brush of a touch, and he comes and goes at will yet is always there when she needs him most. He saved her life and taught her how to fight and survive but this new dangerous situation she finds herself in, they are both unsure of how much assistance he will be able to offer or if he will even be able to save her this time. He has some deep secrets and knows a lot more about the shining ones than he is sharing including where he fits into it all. I am seriously intrigued by Killion’s character and I cannot wait to find out who he is and what connection he has to Dani. There is something there, always simmering under the surface, but it is not yet revealed in this first story. I have my suspicions but I will have to wait and see

The Regency tournament and the Houses are a nice twist to the story. There are several houses vying for supremacy and Dani is smack dab in the middle of it all with her fight to survive the brutal life and death games and the quest to find her sister. This setup is fascinating and I am looking forward to learning more of how the Houses interact and what exactly they do with the chosen ones who are “invited to play their games and survive; especially since no one, aside from Dani’s brother, has made it back to tell the tale and he is forbidden (bound by magic) from revealing the truth. There is so much mystery here to unravel.

The backstory and world development are well-written and provide a good descriptive setup for the series. Since this is the first book, I expect there is still some fleshing out of the world-building to do as the series continues but what is here so far is great. Cassidy really has a way of bringing worlds to life with her words.

Everything about this new world is gripping and I cannot wait to learn more as the series goes forward. There are so many questions to be answered. It will be exciting to watch how it all unfolds. It is just brilliant!

What can I say about Taste My Wrath other then wow, what a world Debbie Cassidy has built for this story. When humanity almost wipes itself, and there is no law or order left in the world, the shining ones. Rebuilding the nearly destroyed cities and putting up walls to keep humanity safe, they took control and restored order. But Danika doesn't believe that the shining ones just take, take, take, and leave the humans with nothing. Pretending to be their saviors, but each year taking children to be part of the Hunt. The survivors are said to be taken to central Middale and given new homes in noble families, but Dani doesn't believe that either and when someone she loves is taken she will do anything to get them back, including volunteer for the Regency tournament

Literally no character in this story is exactly how they seem, everyone has their own little secrets including Danika though hers are revealed through the book. Then there is the mysterious Killion, who definitely isn't human but what exactly is he, the mysterious crowned prince of the Winter who happens to turn up in the library Danika works in, Auntiji the older lady that Danika's parents adopted and Magnus, Danika's commander.

I ended up reading this story in just one sitting as it pulled me in straight from the start, the world that the author builds is just incredible, as well as the characters who really do grow on you throughout the story, even Vala who I didn't even like in the beginning. There are so many questions that I want answers to that means I can't wait for book two to come out to find out more!

OMG!!!! I absolutely loved this book. I fell in love with the characters and the plot. Just when I think that Debbie can not get any better and I have found my new favorite series, she comes out with something new.

In Taste My Wrath we have our female lead Danika or Dani as she likes to be called, is as usual of a Debbie book, is a kick a@@ character. I love this UF world of Fae and how humans are used. She gets help from her shadow mentor Killian. She has a couple of jobs but one of them is night watch against all the scary things in the night. So we know she is a fighter. Killion has helped to make her so. He also helps her to bring stolen food to the needy. But when her sister gets taken in a deadly game, she breaks all the rules and helps her. Luck has it to where instead of death her sister gets taken behind the gates never to be seen again. She fears for her sister so when a another game comes up, for a chance to go into the Fae city, she volunteers. She will do anything to find her sister.

Wow guys I just have to say I had my nose buried in my kindle the whole time. I do not think I lifted my head at all. I could not stop reading. I just loved everything about this story. From Dani to Killion and how they helped each other, their chemistry is spot on. I loved how possessive and protective he is of her. But there are secrets he cannot share, and plenty we have left to learn. There is a mild cliff hanger but I do not think it is too bad. This is a M/F romance which I love. Pretty much what ever Debbie writes, I am going to read. I cannot wait for book two Feel The Power coming December 10th.

Taste My Wrath is a brilliant mash-up of a post-apocalyptic world where the fae called the "shinning" have descended upon Earth as the saviours of humanity. The remaining humans have been split between the four-season courts where the Unseelie hunts at nights; children are offered up for The Hunt, and now the courts have arranged a Hunger Games-like games to determine the ruling court.

Danika is a guard and a librarian by day and the robin hood for her district by night. She's been saved and trained by an inhuman shadow-like being Killian, and he's been her mentor and partner in all her heists. When Danika's younger sister is one of the chosen during the Hunt, she volunteers to participate in the games. Because the shinning is not humanity's salvation, and there are more depths and lies to the games they are playing with humans and their own kind.

Debby Cassidy spins her stories in the way that it is an easy read and will grip you instantly. The world-building is unique and well done, the characters are morally grey, and the story is both anticipating and exhilarating. Taste My Wraith is my very first book of hers, and it won't be the last. I am eagerly waiting for the second instalment in the series.

great read as always

I love Miss Cassidy but I do wish she’d switch it up yet another Killion to add to the list. The same name starts to fuddle the images of the character in your head. Especially if you are a devoted fan.

I love the tension with her and Killion. I wish we understood a bit more about what had happened to the Tuatha to sever their connection to their own Fae-anity (can’t call it humanity as they aren’t humans). Sadly her lack of interest seems to have thwarted the readers efforts to learn more.

Danika is a very strong/weak character it’s so hard to explain. She doubts herself so much and feels her strength is only there because of Killion. That was a bit of a tragedy to me. I didn’t dislike her by any means though you must understand. There was a certain amount of strength she had in her own that kept her safe and that part was lovely.

On a whole there is a lot you don’t know that can be really annoying. Though the world she knows is brilliant and so you essentially understand as much as the character herself would. It’s a fantastic read though so I’d say give it a go!

Enslaved humanity. Fae dictatorship. People being prey - and being unaware of that.
This is the world Danika has to live in. The world she, as one of the few, sees for what it is, resistant to the magical propaganda. Helping the poor as the Black Raven, she works as a guard by choice and as a librarian by designation. Only when the rules change, her family loses protection and her youngest, handicapped sister is picked for the Hunt, she has to stand up and rebel. And more so when the Regency Games are coming - magical and deadly, and Dani's only way to the Keep.
Fascinating read with lots of twist, action, and tension. Although the Fae are deemed unfeeling, there is plenty of emotion going around, a wide range of them from fear and despair through determination and anger to passion and hope. Dani is an admmirable heroine, kickass girl with soft side when it comes to her loved ones. Accompanied by mysterious Killion, she is forced to harden her heart and make difficult choices, because in the end, only family matters. Captivating read, and I am waiting for more to come.

Taste My Wrath - Totally Amazing

This new series is impossible to put down. Our heroine, Dani joins the guard to protect her family. She also does everything she can to protect the local population and obtain the necessary items for survival. She also has a secret side kick that trains her and helps her in her midnight missions. Aliens/Shiners have been in charge since they conquered the humans and they are always changing the rules. Food is scarce, heat is scarce, and security is minimal. Children are hunted and either killed or sent away to different families who will nurture them - or are they? Dani has secrets and she lives to protect her family. When her youngest sister is picked for the hunt nothing can stop Danika from being there for her. Then the rules change and Danika has made it her mission to rescue Nina and nothing is going to stop her, not even quest to fight the other Shiners. Adventure, heartache, love, loyalty, very interesting characters and a lot of action are wrapped up in this book. Love it. Highly recommend.

A Lifeline

This story was well written in all the ways I appreciate.

And surprise surprise: we got FMC that didn't make stupid decisions throughout the entire book! Huzzah! I like Dani, for what it's worth. She wasn't a crier, a whiner, a weakling.

Kil was a nicely written MMC, though we didn't really see him overly much. I feel like this is just the tip of the iceberg with him, and I can't wait to go more in depth with his character development and backstory.

The pacing was nice, and the action moved along swimmingly. There was no (useless) pages-long dialogue, no drawn out descriptions of the leaves and all that sh*t (or the dirt, or the furniture, or the sky, etc...) because some authors can run on with the most RIDICULOUS things while describing the scenery and such.

Yep. All in all, I enjoyed this book. I wish it were longer, though. And I have to wait so long for the second book. Someone save me!

Not gonna do it

I couldn’t get past the Orson Scott Card-esque AU or the fact that the protagonist is a teenager. It would be helpful if writers included information up front that their book features teenage girls getting groiny with adult men. I, personally, find it repulsive and do not want to read any books that are trying to put lipstick on that pig. It’s a personal preference in as much as I believe that any adult man who is circling like a shark, counting down until a girl turns 18 is a predator, not a romantic love interest. I found it gross and creepy when I was a teenager and I find it even more gross and creepy now. Making the guy an immortal vampire, werewolf, demon, fae, or whathaveyou makes it more icky.

I gave the book an extra star because most of the words were spelled correctly, the grammar wasn’t distracting, and I think there might be a good story if the age-issue weren’t a deal breaker.

Ok, what do I say? This has to be my favorite Debbie Cassidy book. I was hooked! I tried to put it down but I couldn’t. Danika was just so interesting, I wanted to know all the things! The whole world it was placed in, just everything. I had my suspicions about some things, and some were confirmed and on others I was just so wrong. But I totally loved this book, it was kind of like a fairy tale hunger games in places, only quite a bit darker. There were still some unanswered questions, that will probably never get answered for me or our heroine, but that is just the way the story goes sometimes. It ended way to soon for me, I mean that I wasn’t ready for it to be over. It didn’t end on a cliffhanger but definitely left you hanging. I can’t wait to see what happens next, where will life take her from here?

Y... he disfrutado como posesa.

Oh sweet baby goats! Debbie has graced us with a new series and it is delectable! I am so into this new story! This is an urban fantasy romance, but it is not a RH. Our MFC is not to be underestimated! She is full of surprises and keeps you as a reader , on your toes! I love the world building, not to mention the whole concept gives a feeling like if the hunger games and death race had a fae baby, it would kind of resemble this absolutely fantastic story. The characters are beautifully well developed and have an air of mystery that just adds so much umph to the entire story. With its twists and turns, drama, action and a lick of steamy steam Taste my Wrath takes you one an epic ride. Needless to say, I am hooked and cannot wait to read the next installment

First let me say I love this cover. It is beautiful and looks so futuristic, totally bought this because of how it looked.

Now to the actual book, it was fun. Nothing extraordinary or overwhelming, but so easy to read. I didn't understand the world entirely and never really could visualize it in my head. I really liked the heroine. Danika isn't weak. She is brave and a fighter. My only complaint her ignorance in the way she attracts men. She was oblivious to most male interactions. I felt like I only got a glimpse of Danika and this world. A mix of hunger games and fae. A vicious world that I don't really understand. Entertaining but it could have been so much more. Regardless of these limitations I want to know more so it was successful in that way.

I'm going to be honest here and say this was pretty terribly written and not at all up to the standard I've come to expect from a Debbie Cassidy series. The characters were all incredibly under-developed, the plot so half-baked that I'm still not certain what it was actually about and the pacing so tragically off-kilter that at times it read more as a summary rather than a published book.

There are remnants of a good story to be found but they're so tragically slaughtered by cliche writing and 2D characters that what's left is just...this...instead.

Every single time that I pick up a new series by Debbie I know with complete certainty that I won’t be disappointed! Stepping into a brand new world she has built is exciting, and non stop fun.
I absolutely love Dani. She is strong, determined, bold, and packing a Grade A snark. Using the many hidden talents she possesses Dani does everything in her power to help her family.
With her dedication to her loved ones and a couple other tidbits this story reminds me a bit of Hunger Games. It was similar but wholly different. So excited to contemplate over what will happen in book 2!
This is a 1st person POV but it doesn’t subtract from the quality of the book. The ending will have you asking, “WHAT’S HAPPENING NEXT!?!? Going to be a gritty, entertaining and thrilling series. Cannot wait!

It took me a little bit to get into this story but around the half way mark, I found myself sucked into the story and really ended up enjoying it. I found the characters to be really interesting and the storyline was unique. Imagine being in a world where you are one of a few handfuls of people left in the world and you have to figure out how you are going to live in this epic game of survival. The novel was creative and I loved the characters. This book made me think of Hunger Games or Divergent, where you are in this unique world and have to figure out how you will survive each day. I would recommend checking out this book.
