For nearly seven decades the ebullient art of Joan Miro (1893-1983), Spanish painter, sculptor, ceramist and mythmaker, has intrigued and enchanted art lovers worldwide. This collection of his writings presents a portrait of the artist in his own words. Miro's notebooks, letters, and interviews reveal the work and life of a brilliant artist revered for his uncanny expression of the subconscious.
Very insightful book about Miro and his development as an artist. Reading this provides another layer of depth to his paintings. Really funny at times; he's very forthright in his letters sometimes to the point of arrogance, but it's always tempered by humility.
Almost done. I've enjoyed it very much so far. Mostly letters he wrote and interviews, so not quite a history of his life, but I love learning his opinions on everything and how he worked.
