This is a really tough book to review, because there are so many ways I could spoil the beauty and uniqueness of the story, so I think I'm just going to share some of my favorite quotes below, and leave you with a parting note that this book was exactly what I needed right now, and I can't wait to read the next two books about these characters' "haunted roads" this month.

"I almost felt my dad's hand resting on my shoulder, begging me to do right by his family. It was time to become the man he'd always said I would be, to let go of what had no value and hold tight to what mattered most."

"Some relationships have hidden truths that few can survive. Only us strong ones can dare listen to, and have the balls to stay and bear witness to, the result of irrevocable damages."

"When did your world turn upside down? And when will you turn my world right side up?"

"I'm not going to pretend that you have paid your dues in the grieving department and say that never again will you know such heartache, but what I am going to tell you is that life is beautiful. I, in my heart, believe that you two will have many happy memories before you say good-bye to this world. Live! Be free! Try to let go of the fear of tomorrow, and enjoy today."

This read left me speechless at the end!
I went in to this book completely blind after reading the last 2 series by India鈥.. which I must say was great idea on my part

Maverick Hutton 鈥 had already too much on his plate, and he was just trying to survive. This young man had it all at his young age of sixteen and he felt immortal. 鈥︹€e already had a college scholarship lined up and a hot girlfriend on his arm 鈥 But one tragic night changed everything鈥..
Anyone who has been awakened at three in the morning by a knock at the door knows how god-awful it can be.

After that tragic night. And his mother fell apart Maverick became his younger sister鈥檚 surrogate parent.

I don鈥檛 think it鈥檚 possible to hate someone you love鈥 I should. I should tell鈥 I should scream! But I can鈥檛. I love him鈥︹€ these words Echoed in the back of my mind. Throughout the book鈥
I must say this book had so many moving parts to it, and when Maverick and his family made the decision to start over in a new town, this book felt like it was going to be slow burn for hot second鈥︹€︹€. But, Throughout the book , we had Little bits and pieces about each ones Tragedy.

What an unlikely looking crew. There was Vixen, who oozed sex appeal. Bryce was a skinny, nerdy dude who somehow reaped Vixen鈥檚 rewards. Cole was a good old country boy who lived in his beat-up cowboy boots. Houston was a lanky and awkwardly funny guy鈥攚ho was trapped with the devil, otherwise known as Adele. Nash and Nelson were, according to V, 鈥渄ouble the pleasure.鈥 Jaz was a little pixie-looking girl who seemed to sprinkle happy dust wherever she went. Delilah was our own personal beauty queen who almost hated the fact that she was above average. And the ridiculous, rugged version of a jock was Maverick, rounding out their versatile group.

I鈥檒l be heading back on that Haunted Roads to the next installment right away 鈥 So don鈥檛 be surprised to find my nose in the next book

4.75 "#TeamTucker"stars

when your heart beats so freakin loud while you are nearing the end of the book, as you are struggling with words of your own, anticipating the right outcome...and then well...you are left neither here nor there...and the overpowering feeling still lingers on...

well, that's what this book did to me...

it's a YA/NA but there's more maturity in these characters than some adult ones I ve read about combined...

It's a story of two intertwined parallele storytellings of the criss-crossed lives of several young people, mainly focusing on Maverick (& Delilah) and Tucker (& Viola) as they are the closest to each other and their individual stories are interlinked and yet each one is uniquely powerful, sad, overwhelming and beautiful as they both roll into one overpowering story of dealing with serious, hard times, instantly growing up and learning to cope with loss, grief, pain and anger, while the characters each try to find a right way to one another...

and their stories are worth it...#TeamMaverick or #TeamTucker?
it's really hard to say, i loved them both, but my heart leans towards Tucker...

Anyway, about the story...

Maverick Hutton is a 17 year old who lost his father in a tragic car accident but that horrid event took the "life" from his mother too, as she drowned into despair, grief, and depression, leaving Maverick behaving as the only remaining parent figure to his little sister Bailey.
I'd never respected a parent's responsibilities until I started acting like a parent myself, raising my little sister

Hard times call for hard decisions and drastic measures, which firstly calls for a change of scenery as they all move to another small town. Maverick befriends the small group of peers and his eyes fall on Delilah. She's in her own world of pain and grief, dealing with a loss of her friend and ex-boyfriend Kenny. And that's just one added plus to their instant connection.
Will you be my friend first kinda slow?
Yes, if that's what you want.

and that's what they do for each other, bonding through friendship and slowly opening up to one another, dealing with lingering pain and unresolved grief, guilt and anger, they thrive towards each other's comfort and solace...
Steal me, Maverick.

Lilah was asking me to steal her back from the grip of loss...

they share more than just time with each other, they grow into one another but they also experience hardship through their years together and there's just one segment of Delilah's past that still lingers to shatter it all into little devastating pieces...
We'd all fallen apart, but we'd handeled it in different ways

But then destiny played a different card...repeating the history all over again...

Tucker is Delilah's big Brother and a true protector. They re-lived more than one loss in their lives that only strengthened their relationship and closeness. The one person that got under Tucker's skin is Viola, a girl that marched into both of their lives and claimed them forever into a firm solid friendship. Only what Tucker and Viola felt for each other was so much more but neither of them acted upon it. Both being strong, protective personas, they never gave in to the craving and they moved on, being near each other, growing up beside each other, torturing themselves and yet they both took on sort of a mission to "save other lives" that needed saving-by making them feel worty and loved...

But the inner torture and struggle ran deep...
My skin felt on fire from being so close to her, causing instant sorrow because I wasn't able to touch her like that every day

both being in other relationships, they stayed away from each other in the most basic physical way, but the need for one another was growing stronger as the time passed by, and the pain from being apart from the other half of one's heart made a craving even stronger and the angst painfully palpable, while regret stirred its head from the dark corner..
There's nothing to say. I allowed myself to be trapped. I chose not to leave him and waste years when you could've been mine.

and when the time was right, all paths cleared for their long awaited reunion...
My mouth smashed to hers, teeth colliding, and I finally got to taste my V

As usual India R Adams did it for me. This being a contemporary romance/drama the writing style was a little bit different, it's the void/absence of the poetry in words that was so evident in all of the fanatasy genre books I have read so far, by this author, and was entranced by them...

The storytelling here, is in dual first person POV's - Maverick's and Tucker's and it flows effortlessly even without that distinguished spark of poetry in motion. Come to think of it, it wouldn't have the same impact on me otherwise...leave the poetry to fantasy world, and let the reality of powerful words overtake the contemporary, so closely remarkable to real life happenings....

eagerly thrilled to get my hands on the second book in the Haunted roads series...

Mixed feelings on this one!

confused

I will go with a little story behind the story and my likes dislikes.

I promoted India's books for the first time some months ago because the blurb presented by the PR company seemed intriguing and because the cover was a looker!
Let's be honest here the cover of that book who was "Scar" had me wrapped around its little chapter!
You know me I am a goner for lovely things.

It got me interested in India's books and I began following her yet I hadn't read a single book she wrote.

I was lucky to win one of her books in a giveaway and asked that she choose for me.
Secretly I hoped she would send me Steal Me and she did!

Now that I have read it I am...confused and a little bit angry.

I won't bore you out with the blurb you can read it above and will go to what I liked and disliked.

Like

- Maverick and Bailey. It was probably the best part of the book. Witnessing this big brother being all protective of his five years old little sister just melted my heart! He was so caring and attentive!
cute

- Something that had me swooning but that others will hate: the extreme sweetness of Maverick with Delilah. I was thinking "no way will a teenage boy be so caring, patient and mature." But instead of rolling my eyes like many could/would I rolled with it, accepted and enjoyed the ride.

-The way India broached the topic of grief was spot on. Mav's mother sank into depression after the death of her husband. She simply left the boat. Forgetting her kids. Not only leaving her little girl but also leaving her son to take care of everything.
And Maverick grieved in holding tight to his little sister. Making sure after his dad and his mom no other family member left him one way or another.

-The friendship. I loved that caring and rambunctious bunch of friends. When one hurt the others did too. When one needed his little sister to be looked after for a few hours to sort things out a friend always offered. Yet they were teenagers so they could have been occupied elsewhere with drinking or having fun!

Dislike

-I hated how India chose to structure this story. We have Mav's POV all along. Following his story with Delilah for years then...abrupt ending! Is it the end of his story? Is it a cliffy? That can't be the end right?
Then we get Tucker's POV. That would not have annoyed me if we picked up where we had been left and went on with the story. But no. We had to go to Tucker's life back to when he was a kid and follow everything till the moment when we left Maverick!
What could have really worked as a second book to have Tucker's story simply did not work at all for me here.
I simply was not invested in Tucker's story at all.

Nor interested because I just wanted to know what happened "after". And I think it is sad because I just know that as a separate book I would have liked it.

-Other dislike we get a cliffy because "95000 words" it gets too big for one book!
Are you kidding?????
When you've just read my wish to have Tucker's part in another book can you understand my frustration and anger at India's parting words? But I guess that鈥檚 also a good point for the author as that means she had me sucked into Maverick鈥檚 story hence I am frustrated because I want to know the ending!

Let's discuss! How do you or would you feel with such book's structure? Yay or nay?

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

India R. Adams is one of those authors whose style is truly unique. It stands out in the very placement of her words, while the tone of her books resonates from start to finish in perfect clarity. Get ready for another heart-felt read filled with tragedy, love, strength and the determination to make it through the darkness into the sunshine beyond. We can鈥檛 always control what happens in life, but we can control how we react, as well as what our actions are. Steal Me is about taking that journey through the darkness and refusing to be denied that walk in the sunshine.

When Maverick鈥檚 father died, his mother fell apart and he became his younger sister鈥檚 surrogate parent. She became his world as much as he became her hero. That isn鈥檛 the job of a teen in high school, yet he did with pride and love. When he finds a mysterious girl who seems to walk around in a haze of sorrow, his heart tells him he needs her, but his head is saying they are both too damaged to create a relationship that will give them both what they need.

Delilah lives with soul deep grief and guilt, but there is something about Maverick鈥檚 smiling and teasing demeanor that both excites her and repulses her at the same time, but how could he know how undeserving of love she is? Kind of like in second grade when the boy who likes you pulls your hair to get your attention, not subtle, not romantic, but it works, right?

As love blossoms, the healing begins for both Delilah and Maverick as they have moments of honesty, shared raw pain and the sweetness of a young love blooming. This is their time to be young, enjoy life and the friends they have, their pasts will never change, their future is uncertain, but love seems to have taken them into a world filled with laughter and sunshine at last! But can it last? Are they strong enough to traverse the storms of life?

What I found to be a beautiful side journey in their romance was Delilah鈥檚 brother Tucker鈥檚 telling of their past life prior to meeting Maverick, ALL of the events that made her the broken girl Maverick was determined to heal. But the story he told of their lives together as a couple, spanning time was truly touching and emotional as he continues the story they could not tell.
Once again, India R. Adams takes story-telling to a new level as I cried, laughed and even shed some tears for one of the most memorable books I have ever read. I cannot recommend India R. Adams鈥 writing highly enough. Just come armed with tissues, or maybe paper towels as she shares the highlights and lowlights of high school, family and love. I think this author is trying to kill me...

I received this copy from India R. Adams in exchange for my honest review.

Just like with the Tainted Water series, I knew India R. Adams was going to own my heart and soul with this book. Steal Me was not an easy ride-it was gut-wrenching, but if there's something this book has taught me, is that I'm one of the strong, so down the haunted road I went.

In Steal Me, India R. Adams brings us the story of Maverick, who's life is changed for the worse when his father died in a car accident. Between his mother's depression and taking care of his little sister, decisions were made, and he moved his family to a new town to escape the aftermath of his father's death. And it's there where Mav will find not only his home and a group of people that will teach him the meaning of friendship and loyalty, but also his ultimate love.

description

Although the story focuses on Mav and Lilah, other characters are surrounding them, and they are as fundamental as the main ones. That's why I was pleased to read that the second half of the book was in Tucker's POV, he and Mav were so alike, and I loved to read his perspective of the story.

One of the things I loved the most about this book is the way the author managed to balance tragedy with humor so perfectly. The other thing was the writing, I already knew how beautifully addictive it was, but with this book, she left me speechless. I haven't managed to pick up another book since I finished reading the second book in the series.

I could keep going and going about this book, but there's nothing like experiencing it for yourself. So please, if you haven't read this woman's words, do yourself a favor and read them. She's magic.

India, I'm speechless. In fact I'm speechless and at the same time I don't know where to start to tell how much I loved Steal Me.

That's definitely a book that will definitely stay with me for a long time.听

Be warned, it's not an easy ride. It's sad, heart-wrenching and poignant. And at the same time, like in all India's story, you'll find the light that's going to make things bearable and that will give you hope when everything seems to crumble around the characters. 听

Steal Me is the story of Lilah and Mav, but you can't reduce it to just their story, even their stories. It wouldn't do the book any justice. There are a lot of characters surrounding them, friends, families, a heavy background; all are very important.听

I found a true mysterious atmosphere in this book, a strong bond between those young people with such a mature soul.听

Steal Me is about loss, there is so much听loss in that story! Loss, healing, grieving, forgiving, LIVING, and above everything, that need to build one another up, support those you care for and not let go. It was amazing; I've been sucked into the story right form the beginning, feeling for Mav and his little sister. I took every emotions of every character with full force until the very end. That's a true performance that left me wrecked, that being said it was in the best way you can imagine.听

I highly recommend that book if you're in the mood for a beautifully written tragedy,听featuring characters united in adversity, kind and strong endearing souls. Don't forget it's difficult, and NOT like many other books,it's going to get worse before it's going to get even worse!!! There is one thing I had in mind after turning the last page: life is short, tragedies happen, time shouldn't be wasted!!! Then again听 there are many other strong听 messages in Steal Me!

I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED AN ARC COPY OF THIS BOOK. THANK YOU!!!

After Maverick's father dies rather suddenly he finds himself trying to hold his family together. His mother has slipped into depression and turned to pills leaving Mav in charge of his younger sister. When the two go out one day they meet a group of teenagers one of which has a sibling Bailey's age. Mav finds himself suddenly with a group of friends he relates to as they all have their own problems and have also experienced loss in their lives.

Steal Me is the third book I've read by India R. Adams and while they all are different in their own ways I have ended up loving every one. This book deals with love, loss and life in general. The characters are ones with flaws all of their own and feel so real that you can't help but get wrapped up in their lives.

The first part of this book follows Maverick and his story after learning of the death of his father. Mav finds himself falling for Delilah who has problems of her own that she's buried so deep inside but the two grow and learn together. The second half of the book focuses on Delilah's older brother Tucker going back to the time that their family lost their mother and following him all the way past where we left off with Delilah and Mav.

As usual with India's writing the book is full of emotion whether it's laughs or tears. The problems the characters were dealing with were real and heartbreaking. I found myself hooked from the very start completely engaged in their lives.

Overall, a wonderful read full of emotion, would definitely recommend checking this one out.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Many thanks to India R. Adams for allowing me to review this book.

Steal Me Reread Review

So I had read this book for the first time about a year and a half ago... and I had fallen in love with it. The second time around? I fell in love with it all over again. The little details that I had forgotten about from the first time I had read it made it seam like I was reading it for the first time all over again.

Reading it a second time made me realize how much foreshadowing there is in this book. The little clues that are like little breadcrumbs outlining what is to come, yet they are so subtle, you have to be paying attention to notice them.

The second time around, I fell in love with the characters even more. Mav, Delilah, Tuck, Viola, Diesel... all of them. I love them all mkay? All MINE! Fight me *smirk*

There is so much content in this book. So many themes; loss, grief, sexual assault, family dynamics, yet the word that comes to mind when I think of the book as a whole is : 鈥渂eautiful鈥. Yes, even though my kindle was nearly flung to the wall a couple of times. Lucky for my kindle, I said 鈥渘early鈥.

The second book will sure to shatter me even more... and I cannot wait for it.

Note: I received book from the author, in exchange for an honest review. I am glad I got a chance to read this book. Many thanks to author.

Book was all about loss, grief, transformation, family, love and fight for yourself and for your loved one. There was everything in bits but majority was tragedy. Lot of. It was like characters are trying get over one tragedy, become stable and happy, another one is waiting to strike and threaten to shatter everything again. This was the journey of characters from tragedy to love and happiness, their walk out of tunnel of darkness towards the light.

Warning- few characters were abused in the book that might be disturbing. I didn鈥檛 cry I like I usually do while reading India鈥檚 books. I was on the edge of crying but didn鈥檛. So, it was milder, for me, than Serenity and Destiny.

Characters-
India creates amazing crew. I loved Tucker鈥檚 group and their love for each other. Most of the story was centered on Maverick, Delilah and Tucker. Other characters in the book, and even parents and family of the crew had their solid imprints in the book. Mostly all characters were fighter and had important, major role. Main and my Favorite characters-

Maverick鈥 lovely brother and fighter. Strong, wise, smart, sensitive and most chivalrous guy in the book. Delilah鈥 smart, bookworm, and romantic but layered with timid, emotional and sensitive and hidden under her brother鈥檚 protective nature. Tucker鈥 Delilah鈥檚 brother. Amazing friend, fierce when it comes to protecting his sister, reckless, and struggle in understanding his own emotion for Viola. He was exactly like Rocco in Serenity. Viola 鈥 vixen is perfect word and nickname for her. Strong, can fight for herself, rough, straightforward, loudmouth bitch, but she is more than that- empathetic, observer, brilliant counselor, and lovely friend. Without doubt she was my favorite character in the book. As I can relate with her. We both have our own mind. 馃槈 Bailey鈥 what I say about this sweet little sister of maverick. She was the first one who took my heart in the book. She was most adorable character in the book and that make her my favorite.

Loved this book right from character to concept, plot, writing and end. Such gripping story and great concept! This was the kind of the book that can touch everyone鈥檚 heart especially of those who has lost someone and those who has found a light out of darkness. One thing I like most about all India鈥檚 book is, though the topic is very serious, touching and emotional, there is always breathers here and there in the book that make me smile, laugh and blush.

The story was in two parts- one, Life of Maverick from his POV and other, Life of Delilah and Tucker narrated by Tucker.

First part鈥 This part solely focused on Maverick and his Maverick鈥檚 relationship with Bailey and Delilah. He and his sister just won my heart in this part. This dude鈥檚 maturity level increased from 3 to direct 10 after his father鈥檚 death. Maverick鈥檚 struggle, becoming pillar of his family, his sense of priorities and love for his sister, the way he grew up and sacrificed his needs for his family was incredibly touching and heart-melting. He totally drew me into his world.

I admired him for the way he handled Delilah, her and his own emotions, and the way he protected his two girls. I was constantly thinking in this part, why Delilah was weak or wearing a shell, what happened to her and why it was spooking her. The secret was predictable but I didn鈥檛 know the reason behind or that whole scene was not revealed in this part. The character development of Mav, his mother, Delilah was mind-blowing in his part. The end of this part was unbelievable, and unpredictable.

Second part鈥 This part focused on Tucker. His relationship with Delilah and Viola. We are back paddling here to Tucker and Delilah鈥檚 childhood. How they grew up what was their story, how he met his crew, what happened to Delilah, his POV for Maverick and Delilah鈥檚 relationship. This part told the tales of all character including Tucker鈥檚 crew which was not told or revealed in the first one.

The pieces about Delilah past that was missing in the first part during her relationship with Maverick was filled in this second part. But few things were still not revealed in this book. So I鈥檓 desperately waiting for the second to find those left out pieces. I was shocked that even Tucker didn鈥檛 know all about Delilah. Tucker and Viola were surprise in this part. Most brilliant character development was Tucker. He changed a lot before and after Maverick came in his life. I thought I will give this book 4.5 star because of Delilah鈥檚 timid nature, but this second part changed my mind as this part also have a reason for that too.

I learned lot of things about all characters in this part and that鈥檚 why I loved reading second part more.

End鈥 It was broken. I didn鈥檛 expected that and it broke exactly at very important point which blew my mind. I was yelling 鈥業 want to know more, I want finish what was going on in the end.鈥 And then I was sulking because I have to wait for the second book. Author鈥檚 note about reason for ending book at this point didn鈥檛 help much.

Overall, loved this book. There were good turning points. Little surprises. Freaking rocket speed book. And I鈥檓 sure you will love to connect with characters of this book like I did. If you have read India鈥檚 book before and you liked her writing style, you will definitely love this book. And if you haven鈥檛 this is best book to start reading her work, because this was milder than other books by India.

Beyond 5 Beautifully Broken Steal Me Stars *

Wow. I think I need a minute to just stop and absorb all the feelings and emotions this book has left me with. I'm warning you now....This book will render you with the mother of all book hangover's. Tequila has got nothing on this rollercoaster ride. This novel quite literally knocked me on my Kindle ass. I'm so not done with the characters in this book.
Let me start by saying I was very kindly given an ARC of this book by India. I have not read any of her other work. But I will be now. This is my honest opinion.

The synopsis is a group of friends , some of whom have experienced bereavement and the healing that takes place. It also deals (very well) with abuse. It is poignant, heartwarming, laugh out loud funny and truly memorable. Maverick is 16 when he loses his Dad suddenly and finds himself caring for his 4 , nearly 5 yr old sister Bailey, because his mother is grieving & totally blindsided & consumed by her husband's death. In a bid to make a fresh start they move to a small town outside of Atlanta. Maverick makes friends with some local teenagers and he, and Bailey are accepted into the group. If you usually avoid College / High school age characters in books I would urge you really strongly to give this a try. Yes, the main characters are seniors in high school and then we see them in college but the book has a mature feel to it. Some of their actions reflect their ages but it fits well and watching them mature is really satisfying. Maverick falls in love with Delilah , who has demons of her own but is so sweet albeit very guarded. Mav breaks her walls down beautifully. Maverick Hutton STOLE. MY. HEART. Delilah has an older brother, Tucker, who is a loveable badass. He is a player. oh yes he is. A delicious, hot headed, I want to slap him upside the head then hug him, player. Delilah's bestie is Viola. I adored her and all her sassy ways. She contrasts brilliantly with Delilah. The rest of the gang are fabulous too. And Bailey is just the sweetest little girl. I wanted to hug her tight - she could melt anyone. India did well to write a gorgeous child character that was endearing and sweet , I sometimes think children in novels don't work but Bailey has a huge role in this book and it's written to perfection.
I'm not going far into the plot with this review, you need to go in blind I think. I hate it sometimes when reviewers say that but in this case, just let yourself feel the story these guys want to tell you.
This is the first of two books. Is it a cliffhanger? (I am the Queen of cliffie haters btw. I will hold out and wait til all books are released) I would say the ending gives you enough to hold on and not be emotionally Kindle crippled!! But I am sooooo ready to read the next book. I want it now!!! *sighs in melodramatic fashion*
In summary, this book will stay with me. The characters are in my head and heart and I'm itching for more. It truly feels like a book that was written from the heart.

This was an honest tale of two broken people trying to find a way to get through their haunted past filled with lost and pain.

After Mavericks father dies, he moves with his mother and sister to a small town. His mother who cannot seem to get over the death of his father drifts into depression forcing Maverick to care for his little sister Bailey. This part amazed me to watch a young man, senior in high school care and love his sister was very emotional.

He is able to form a small crowd of friends, where he meets Delilah. Delilah is still trying to come to grips with the sudden death of her boyfriend. When these two finally get together, they seem to be the balance they both need to get through their trials and tribulation. But when tragedy strikes again and more secrets of the past are revealed will they still be able to cling onto the happiness they both so deserve.

Seriously this is a new to me author and I am so angry at myself that it's taken me so long to find her. I couldn't put this book down as had to know what happens. She has made the characters so relatable and lovable. Do yourself a favour and one click now

This was the second book I read from this author and she never ceases to amaze me.

Whenever I think about this book, wave after wave of emotions assault me. It left me an emotional wreck but I would read it again just to be wrecked again. It was that good. Steal Me鈥..so much to say. I don鈥檛 know where to begin.

This book has two parts and tells the story of two couples you could say. Unlike some books where we just run around in circles around a pair of lovebirds, all the characters are important and wonderfully developed. The story flows so smoothly and I loved how the two parts melded into one another in all the right places. I wasn鈥檛 finished biting my nails over Maverick and Delilah when I was thrown into the crazy lives of Tucker and Viola. I cannot decide which one I love best but I do know that my absolute favourite character is Bailey, Maverick鈥檚 little sister. She is the most precious thing ever and can I please adopt her? We all could learn so much from sweet little Bailey. Her life is thrown into chaos at such a tender age and she handles it so much better than most adults. She is kind, generous, helpful and very mature for her age.

All these awesome brothers in one book. Now, I want one too. The fact that Tucker, Maverick and Diesel all have younger sisters they would die for brings them together and they become each other鈥檚 strength. I loved the whole gang. They really were the oddest bunch but fit together perfectly. I expect books dedicated to each of them otherwise I will launch a protest! Okay, I will cry. Pretty please?

We follow our beloved characters from one stage of life to the next and it鈥檚 not smooth sailing for anyone. India tells us what happens when you have found love and life threatens to crush what you have built after so much sacrifice. I loved the flawed characters, the real struggles they go through and most of all, how they don鈥檛 give up even in the worst circumstances.

I think we all fear that one day we might have to go through the same pain we once felt before. It makes us paranoid and holds us back from moving on to better things. We watch as our MCs face the same predicament and when confronted with their worst fears, they don鈥檛 back down.

India鈥檚 writing has a tendency to shatter you, fix you and then shatter you again and you love every second of it. No one has the ability to explain their characters emotions the way she does. I have never been this deeply attached with characters while reading a book. You are not left wondering who they are or why they act a certain way. You know them and you feel their emotions too.

If you want to experience what I did please do give this book a shot. I guarantee you won鈥檛 be disappointed. As for me, I need to know what happens next.

Aahh鈥 wish someone would steal me! *sighs dramatically*

Steal Me by India Adams is the first book in the Haunted Roads series and is told from the duel perspective of two of the main male characters. After Maverick's father dies, he moves with his mother and sister to a small town for a fresh start. His mother is slipping into a deeper depression and Maverick is just trying to do the best he can to hold his family together and provide as normal a life as he can for his little sister Bailey. Maverick meets Delilah, who is also trying her best to move on after the loss of her boyfriend. Having found that common bond, they lean on each other to get through the difficult times that death and grief put you through.

This story was intense. India takes a very heavy issue and writes about it in a beautiful and unique way. I truly became invested in the characters in this book. At first I wasn't sure about having to keep everyone straight. There were quite a few characters in Maverick's group of friends. But each one brings something to the story. I also must comment on Maverick's relationship with his little sister Bailey. He has got to be the ultimate dream big brother and that side of the character made me love him even more!

This book truly is unique in the fact that midway through the book it completely switches perspectives. It's almost like two stories in one. I was reading along and all the sudden saw the next chapter was written from Tucker's perspective. I thought, "Wait, what? Where is India going with this?" But that little change-up was one of the aspects of the story that I ended up liking best. It really helped to explain Tucker and Viola's relationship and definitely helps the reader to understand Delilah and her background before meeting Maverick.

Be advised this store ends on a major cliffhanger! I'm definitely looking forward to continuing on with this series and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a truly unique and beautiful story.

*Thank you to the author for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

What the hell just happened to me?
Oh, my goodness! What a ride Ms. Adams has taken me on. This book was just pulling on all my emotional strings.
These beautiful band of kids and the grief they鈥檝e had to experience so early in their lives. Watching them mature far too quickly when they should鈥檝e just been enjoying life without worries.

Ugh, I鈥檓 still clutching on my chest.
I felt so much for Maverick. That boy went from being a careless 16 year old high schooler without a worry in the world, to a single parent for his younger sister.
After learning about his father untimely death, his mom couldn鈥檛 cope with the grief, AT ALL. If it wouldn鈥檛 have been for Mav stepping up, I鈥檓 pretty sure this family would鈥檝e lost absolutely EVERYTHING.
Now, I understand that everybody grieves in a different way, but I was so angry at his mom for COMPLETELY forgetting about her son and daughter.
We see them moving to a new town because it was becoming too hard for them living in a town where their dad鈥檚 ghost was constantly around.
This is where Maverick meets the coolest and most understanding group of kids.
Ugh! I want a friends like them, especially Viola. I had a major girl crush on her.
With this group of friends, Mav realized that they鈥檝e all experienced a loss like him. This ends up uniting them more.
Within this group is our gorgeous Delilah.
The girl with the weight on her shoulders and a secret so deep it鈥檚 prevented her from living her life.
Mav and Delilah meet and it鈥檚 like the world put these two in each other鈥檚 paths to help heal one another.
But, nothing is ever as easy as it seems, right?
There鈥檚 a secret too deep inside Delilah that鈥檚 tearing her apart, there鈥檚 anger inside Maverick that has him ignoring all the signs around his life.
Will these two be able to help each other? Steal one another from their pain?

There was a lot I really liked about this book. The characters are so wonderfully written. Mav is such a great guy right from the start. You see how amazing he is with his little sister and immediately know he's going to be loyal and patient with Delilah. She is also a great character. Very broken on the inside from more than we're told in this book, but I've got a pretty good guess. She opens up slowly to Mav and I loved reading their friendship grow and then turn into more. I also love how the story follows the two from high school through college and beyond. There were some parts that seemed rushed, particularly their college days and the problems they were having, but that's just nitpicking.

The thing about this book that kept me from giving it 5 stars was how it started over in the middle from Tucker's pov. Although I loved reading about Delilah as a kid and about the relationship between Tucker and Viola, but it felt like it could have been an entirely different book. Other than that, I really did love this book. I can't wait to read part 2!

Oh noes! You can't leave it there!!!

Wow; what a gripping story! Stories really, I suppose.
There's a whole group of misfits with horrific pasts who all come together in their very own special disfunctional way.

Great characters! I love Maverick especially. ;P

Halfway through there's a big perspective shift, and we get to see the story through someone else's eyes. This was really effective.

I only reserve one of the stars as the boys seem to have very adult/counsellor type insights a lot, despite being full of hormones. It could just be my sceptical mind, but sometimes these were just a bit too profound.

Other than that, I loved it.

There's serious issues such as abuse and death covered in this book.
They are extremely well handled, and done with compassion and understanding.

There's so much humour in these pages that the bad stuff is much easier to read.

I felt like I was in the little American town.

Definite recommend to a friend material.

I have spent my whole weekend submerged in this book and there's no other place I'd rather be. I can't quite remember how I stumbled upon this book and this author but this was JUST the kind of raw story and writing I needed.

Steal Me is not for the faint of heart. I say that because emotionally this will wreck you on every level and I have a feeling India is just getting started. I took breaks while reading because I felt overwhelmed with how emotionally bonded I felt for these characters. This book immediately sucks you in and it never lets you go.

I'm diving into book 2 very soon but I just want to give my heart a quick rest, I already know that I'm in for a ride when I dive in but right now this book has my whole heart.

Well written, dynamic, and beautifully raw, Steal Me will render you breathless, vulnerable and completely undo you.

A book that will ultimately change your whole life. It will consume you, suck you into it's darkness with a romance so damaged, I'm surprised I made it out of it in one piece. Steal Me by India R. Adams is a unique depiction of grief, love, trauma and what it takes to move past your demons and attempt to be happy. It will drag you through the mud and back, stealing your every thought, breath and emotion. It's ridiculous how much this book affected me. What's even more ridiculous is the fact that I've been avoiding opening this book for quite some time now. I don't know if I was just being an idiot or the fact that some part of me deep down knew that this book would be a game changer.

This novel discusses the life of teenager, Maverick Hutton, who's life is changed for the worse when his father passes in a car accident. Overnight, he's not only lost one parent but two, with his mother overcome with grief at the loss of her best friend. Now the actual man of the house, he has to take car of his mother and his 5 year old sister, Bailey and deal with all the responsibility before he is ready. In order for a fresh start, he uproots the family in order to help each other heal. It's here that Mav meets a group of people that will ultimately end being his best friends, and unknowingly, one girl, the love of his life. He is hypnotized by her beauty, but he can see the emptiness in her eyes, in her soul, and makes it his mission to always make her smile.

This story will ruin you. It's full of bad ass older brothers who bond over the fact that they would kill for their little sisters. It's a tragic love story that I couldn't put down. So much love running through this little group, all that's needed so it can be released fully is for them to heal. This author came out of nowhere, and while I was hesitant to start her books, I am glad I did, because I can't imagine my life without Mav and Lilah. I started this book last night and finished at about 2am, cussing out the author and crying at the cliffhanger. I am at a loss at how to deal with these emotions, I feel like I'm the one who lost something and I just need the author to help me heal as well. I am only giving this 4 stars, because the sudden change of POV in the middle of the book threw me off for a bit and confused me. But it picked up after that.

Fantastic read that will remain with me for the rest of my life!

I was gifted this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

A truly emotional ride. Lots of love and heartache. Growing love and love denied.
Every single time India's writing pulls me in. She has a unique talent of making you feel her story. Everything is so real.
A little more steamier than what India normally writes but still very mild for what I usually read.
This book is in two parts. Part one focuses on Maverick and Delilah.
After Maverick's father suddenly dies his mother falls into depression and he finds himself fighting to hold his family together.
Moving to a new town Maverick takes his little sister Bailey to the store where he meets Cole and Hu. Who take him back to meet their other friends. At the house Maverick sees Delilah for the first time and knows shes the one.

Part two is the same story but from Tucker's POV. Starting from when Tucker's mother dies through the rescue and death of his brother Kenny to his growing love for Viola then back to where part one ended.

I was a little frustrated at the sudden POV change. But still it was full of amazing friendships. A truly beautiful heart wrenching story.
Well I guess there is another frustration. I have to wait till 2017 for Scar Me..Sigh..

I am absolutely so emotionally drained that I don't know where to start this but I am going to try and try to do India's words some justice!
Firstly this is a very long book, like 95 000 words but it doesn't seem nearly long enough! It is separated into two parts, the first half is all from Mavericks POV and the second half is from Tuckers POV and this how the story all comes together.
All the characters in this story have suffered such heartbreak in one form or another and it seems to be what has brought them all together. Maverick is possibly one of my favorite male leads who would do anything for his family and his attraction and feelings towards Delilah is instant. The patients that he has and the love he feels for the woman in his life just pours off the pages. Delilah has been through so much and even though we don't know it all, the beauty that still shines through her soul just warms me up.
Tucker is Delilahs brother and he has been through so much, so to see things from his point of view was just amazing! We get to see Viola from a whole new point of view, she is super sassy but one of the most amazingly loyal woman ever! This entire book from start to finish just gives me all the feelings, the laughing and crying, I loved every minute of it and now cannot wait to see what happens with book two!
As always India has done an amazing job and left me with an epic book hangover and now I will be sitting not so quietly waiting for book two!!
This is my honest and unbiased review.

This is my 3rd book by India Adams, and I'm not going to lie, I had to take this one slow. It's different from her other books I've read ("Rain" and "Serenity") in that there isn't a paranormal component, but it is no less powerful as a result. This book is heartbreaking for a variety of reasons - learning to live through life and death, sacrificing wants for what's right, learning respect after poor choices.

I almost gave up at a mid point in this book and wanted to scream at the injustice of the story, and I put it down for a few days until the characters drew me back. I simply could not abandon the story because it was hard to read, and I was reminded of something Tucker said early on, "Only us strong ones can dare listen to, and have the balls to stay and bear witness to, the results of irrevocable damages." So I read on. And I'm glad I did. This family of characters who feel so real and flawed and hopeful will stay with me.

I eagerly await the next installment that I have no doubt will be just as trying and just as worth it. If you like books that portray the reality that some people have to live with and through, and that by reading along makes you become more sympathetic to a life different from your own, read this book - witness their heartache and love and growth and let it affect you deeply and for the better.

As per usual, the author doesn't cease to amaze me!
"Steal Me" is a lovely story of survival. It grips you from the first chapter to the last, and you WILL cry/laugh/feel everything with these characters.
You have Maverick & Delilah, each with losses in their past, each with healing to do. When these two come together, I swear angels must have sang somewhere! They're THAT perfect for each other. I love that the author doesn't just leave us with "and they lived happily ever after" but rather shows the intricacies and complications within a relationship - something she does admirably and amazingly well! We get to follow them through high school, college, and adult life.
Then you have Tucker & Viola, my second favorite couple; these two... My heart breaks for them; I spent the entire half of the book biting my nails, and wishing/praying/begging for something good to happen!
Each character has their own voice, and you'll be flipping page after page after page, waiting to get onto the next good part. Much like with "My Wolf and Me", I spent the entire night reading - started around 10pm, and didn't stop till the last SHATTERING paragraph.
Can't wait for "Scar Me". Scratch that... Waiting with baited breath is more like it!! :)

India's unique writing style throws me into the deep end Every Single Time. I NEVER know what to expect from her but she has a tendency to crash my heart into pieces, but she does eventually repair it. Her words are captivating and her characters are inspiring. The downfall of her books is that they always end. it's not that you need more from her books, it's that you want more.

Steal Me has a unique twist that WILL blow your mind. You won't be expecting it, but it's there. In this book we get to dive into the mind of two amazing people, two gut wrenching stories, and two beautiful but ugly love stories. To be honest I tooky sweet ol time reading this magnificance. I couldn't fathom what was running through india's mind while she was writing this. But I can totally see why their stories needed to be read. I can't wait to read more of this amazing journey.

Mind officially boggled, this book needs to be heard by you the reader.

This was my first book by India R Adams but it definitely won鈥檛 be my last!!

This story was an emotional rollercoaster. Those older ones where you feel every dip and turn completely.

The author took us on a journey of growth and self healing. It was therapeutic to see these characters develop and grow. Most were able to conquer their demons. The rest, I鈥檓 hoping will come with the sequel.

Mav and Lilah, they were meant for each other. This was not the case insta lust. Yes it was there, but their connection was above that. It was amazing to see how they developed around that. To nourish their attraction beyond a physical aspect. They simply glowed

The author heads a warning at the end of this book. Yep definitely want to yell at her! Lol.

My love for side characters continues. As a couple characters stood out and stuck with me. I鈥檓 ready to dig into the next one!

Angsty but so sweet

This book has so many feel good moments with ohs and awes but it isn鈥檛 all roses. Loss and abuse are a few of the triggers in this book. It鈥檚 from several POVs and while not dark there is a lot of angst and several spots that may make you heart eyes. A small town has its dark secrets and like most small towns everyone is in everyone鈥檚 business. The o oh thing I found odd is about half way through it switches POV and goes back several years and tells the story line with a different couple. It could have been two separate books with two killer cliffhangers. Ready to dive into book two.

I just love this author. How she takes the rawest, realest things in life and spins stories out of them that make you care for the characters and connect with their plights. As always, India finds a way to blend real with grief with humor with love with connection with entertainment with good writing-
and the results are a delight. I can't wait to find out what happens next!

Hauntingly Beautiful

This book has the FEELS!! I actually went in blind on this one, I had no clue what it was about and I鈥檓 glad I did. The mystery of it all made consumed me and I didn鈥檛 want to come up for air. This story WRECKED me in more ways than one and I am gladly along for this ride!
