Himuro, a descendant of a yuki onna, causes a disturbance to those around him. When his condition attracts the attention of his co-worker, an unlikely romance blooms. A romantic comedy of an icy guy paired with a girl with a cool personality.
* 3.5?? ??? * Things Himuro likes: Flowers Cats Nice people * He can’t control his emotions. The more he gets worked up or strongly feels for an emotion the more it snows or freezes. There’s ice in the hallways, in the office, on a sunny day lol * He loves cats but can’t pet them because it stirs up too much emotion and he creates ice, so he watches cat videos to comfort himself * The FMC brings in stuff and makes stuff for himuro to comfort him so his emotions don’t go crazy. What she does get is she makes his emotions go crazy. He’s in love with her so hard
Updated Review 10/31/23: This manga was just as wholesome as I remember…and just as obsessed!!! Absolutely love love love it and can't wait for more volumes!! SQUEALS!
Original Review: 6/30/22: Just got done LEGALLY binge reading this on and I CAN'T EVEN!!!
This is the most wholesome josei I have ever read and far exceeds a Sign of Affection and that in itself is a HUGE feat because that is one of the most wholesome josei I currently know of!
But FLAILS! I DESPERATELY need this manga printed! Literally every chapter I giggled and smile and said THEY ARE SO CUTE!!! Like no exaggeration that this was me every single time. LOL! Very slice-of-life in an office setting and extremely slowburn romance that I am 1000% here for!
Since each chapter can be read on it's own, it's a perfect one to read one chapter at a time or binge read all of it because each chapter creates all the warm fuzzy feelings, which is hilarious given that Himuro is a descendent of the Snow Queen! LOL! (The chapter with the little snowmen was SOOOOOO precious!! *cries happy tears*)
Seriously, this manga is so comforting and really cheered me up after a rough evening! I definitely plan to reread it again before moving onto volume two because I can't get enough of these two! High recommend!!
Cute rom-com manga with a fantasy twist. Definitely nothing new and super duper repetitive in some parts, especially at the beginning. The second half is way better.
Visually is beautiful and I loved the drawings but even if we know the main characters are "cold", I was still a little bothered by the almost absense of facial expressions from both of them, it all felt very flat.
MMC is a descendent of a snow spirit (think Jack Frost) and he happens to freeze things or creates snow/ice whenever his emotions run high. FMC is his coworker. The two are just so cute, I can't.
Story format reminds me of Way of Household Husband or Mr. Villain's Day Off! Really short and sweet chapters.
So I've been reading a lot of "fantasy" mangas lately, and I thought Ice Guy and the Cool Female Colleague was a nice and cute distraction from them. I like how cute and fuwa fuwa this manga is. Plus both Himuro and Fuyutsuki are cute together too. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of this manga :)
MOST ADORABLE THING THAT I HAVE READ TODAY! THE CHEMISTRY IS GREAT. THE PLOT AND CHARACTERS ARE INTERESTING. AND THE ART STYLE IS JUST DIVINE! I REALLY LOVE IT!
The anime for this was one of the sweetest anime I've ever seen, so when I saw this was licensed in English, I was ecstatic. This was just as adorable as the show, and while this particular volume was fully covered by the anime, I'm very excited to see where else the love story goes.
Stumbled across this one randomly and I'm so in love with it! It's a story about a man who is a descendant of yuki onna (a yokai) so whenever he's nervous or troubled, Himuro freezes over. Literally. It always snows around him too. And then there's Fuyutsuki, a cool-headed female colleague of his.
They both seemed attracted to each other but since Himuro is always nervous and shy (and I kind of think that Fuyutsuki is shy too), they don't really get to express their feelings. But I find it really cute because whenever Fuyutsuki did something, Himuro's reactions are just so precious ? He's so whipped for her!
The story is being told in short chapters so it's something easy to be read if you need something light and sweet. Definitely rooting for these two adorable people to start dating soon! ???
I’m glad that I had the opportunity to read this manga. However, I just did not vibe with the story. In the beginning, it was choppy and hard to understand where the story was going as a reader. But it did get better towards the end where it was more consistent.
What I did like were Himuro and Fuyutsuki. The interactions between them were great. Cute and sweet!
Overall, I have mixed feelings. I’m still deciding if I want to continue or not. For now, I guess this remains to be seen in the future for 2025.
'Listen... The snowmen are a bit of a distraction.'
Sometimes you just need a wholesome slow burn romance with beautiful visuals and heartwarming characters and The Ice Guy and the Cool Girl is exactly that. For a manga titled the opposite, it turned out to be the warmest and coziest story eeee.
I have to say I was a bit taken aback by the 4-page long chapters with only the bonus ones being pretty long. Moreover, at 128 pages, the volume itself is also on the shorter side for a manga. However, it doesn't really take away from the story itself and rather makes it a pretty quick read.
Himuro is the descendant of a snow spirt who's constantly surrounded by all things ice because any change in his emotions has the power to bring about everything from a blizzard to little snowmen to literally freezing him inside an ice block. Fuyutsuki, his co-worker, notices his daily struggles of not being able to enjoy the things he loves and helps him in innovative ways which has Himuro feeling all sorts of emotions towards her (which then escalates the whole thing LOL).
The contrast of Himuro being the ice guy physically and Fuyutsuki, the cool girl emotionally is so interesting. So while we have Himuro with his heart on his sleeve, Fuyutsuki seems unapproachable and cold. One thing they do have in common, though are their stoic facial expressions so you never really know what they are thinking. Himuro does get thought bubbles and bro gets flustered and blushes so damn easily. Fuyutsuki, on the other hand, gets bashful and smiles occasionally.
I also appreciate that while they both have hang-ups about their powers (Himuro) and personality (Fuyutsuki), they gradually come to appreciate it because of each other and others in their office. Shout out to no one really being bothered by Himuro's ~icy tendencies but rather concerned but then he becomes apologetic about them anyway. Also nice to see their co-workers getting to know Fuyutuski and not writing her off like she expected.
As for the art, so visually appealing! I love the wintery touch from the little snowmen floating around Himuro to the snowflakes and whatnot. Even Fuyutsuki's cat Nyamero is so cutely drawn. Can't get enough, TBH.
I just wanted a cute little romance so I could continue riding the high A Sign of Affection gave me and this definitely delivered. It is adorable. I do wish we knew more about the main characters back stories though but this was only the first volume so hopefully soon? I’m definitely continuing this manga.
Somewhere between 3 and 4. I like that the FMC's personality feels realistic and doesn't fall into easy tropes (which can happen to many kinds of characters, but also the "cool/aloof" kinds). Quite cute! Not a lot of story, it's just light and charming.
I'm not used to the short stories format that's going on as certain stories feel like it should have come earlier/later. It feels a little over the place sometimes (e.g. the story of how they met is one of the later chapters in volume 1). However, that also means that we're able to jump in at any point of time & take a lot of breaks in between reading. This might also be why I found the pacing for the anime to be weird; the manga version works better for this kind of short stories format.
I must say that the artwork is beautiful. I even took a screenshot of 1 page to use as my phone wallpaper.
