Sensible common sense suggestions but didn’t penetrate
I liked the concise style and quite liked the seven day step by step approach. However, for me this didn't penetrate it. Perhaps my problem is not procrastination but depression and grief with a loss of interest in the future.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Immediate Action by Thibaut Meurisse. This practical guide offers a concise and well-explained approach to overcoming procrastination and reclaiming motivation within seven days. Meurisse provides readers various simple exercises and practical strategies to help identify and address the underlying reasons behind their procrastination habits.
The book stands out for its ability to help readers develop a clear action plan that can be implemented to achieve their goals. This book is a valuable tool for people with a clear goal but who need help turning their dreams into action.
While Immediate Action offers valuable insights and techniques, it should be noted that it primarily focuses on surface-level procrastination and may not delve deeply into underlying issues such as depression, grief, or a lack of interest. As a result, readers dealing with these more profound challenges may find the book's scope somewhat limited.
Furthermore, it is essential to mention that this book is better suited for mature readers with self-awareness and personal growth. Younger readers, such as children, might not fully grasp or benefit from the concepts presented in this book.
Overall, Immediate Action is a commendable self-help book encouraging readers to exercise their minds and take immediate action. This book is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to boost their productivity and lifestyle by breaking free from procrastination and finding their motivation again.
I'm not a procrastinating fellow except in study . I had accepted that study is not my thing that's why I procrastinate about it . I also not felt like going further after starting this book . But every book always keep some information which is unknown to us . This book is also not an exception . After reading this book , my believe got changed. It showed me new ways , gave me some new notions . Really loved it .
I'm yet to meet someone who hasn't struggled with procrastination at some point in their life. Immediate action, by Thibaut Meurisse is a decent read for anyone looking for tips on combating procrastination.
Meurisse's concept of procrastination evolves from our subconscious desire to avoid danger. The default human being is wired to survive, not thrive, and to overcome this, people need to take active decisions to approach the challenges our brain tries to tear us away from.
In addition to the subconscious wiring of the human brain, there are two major takeaways in this book. We control our motivation. There is no point in waiting for a spurt of motivation; it will never come. Motivation comes from action. When you have completed one task, your motivation levels will rise. The second takeaway relates to multitasking. Despite what many people would like to think, we are not designed to juggle several tasks simultaneously. No matter the situation, multitasking leads to less productivity and procrastination.
If you struggle with procrastination, you can benefit from this book. However, many of the points within could be summed up more straightforwardly. Even though it is a small book, I can't help feeling it could have been shorter, purely to increase benefits per page.
Meurisse has a calm neutral tone and is great at adjusting his writing to be easy to understand for all. The content is excellent, but for most people, you only need a quick flick through to see the tactics used. If you've got a couple of hours to spare, it is a nice read.
I love that Meurisse's books are action centred and easy to apply. He has clearly studied the subject widely, and there is probably nothing new here, but when you're clutching at straws, and you just want to get out of your rut and *do* something to escape your procrastination driven anxiety, this little book is the perfect antidote. Very succinct and actionable.
I see a lot of people saying that the book doesn't work, that it's bad and that it's content is possibly stolen from other books. The thing is that, is a resume of ways how to avoid procrastination in order to improve your productivity. I have read a couple of productivity books before reading this, and what I liked the most is that, I could have saved a lot of my time (from previous reads) if I found this one first.
I must say, it was truly an eye-opening experience. The book offers a fresh perspective on procrastination, shedding light on the underlying psychological and emotional reasons behind it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who struggles with procrastination. It is a valuable resource for anyone looking to improve their productivity and achieve a more balanced and fulfilling life.
Book 1 Dope Detox is much better because it was an issue I had a hard time even recognizing. Book 2 is for someone who has overcome being distracted.
I would recommend completely overcoming Dope distraction before reading this book. Perhaps the Author should make a 200 page book detailed book about Dope Detox for people who really struggle with it
I like that the book is short. However, if you are a beginner in this topic the book is great. If you have read many books on the topic and are looking for something fresh and interesting the book is devoid of that.
Meh. There are better books out there with more meat. I understand that the point was to make a short book that anyone can read. But I think, by doing this, the author made it overly simplistic. Maybe its just me, but for me, its a 3/5
Cool read to stimulate and unlearn poor habits . This book may be used to counter “learned helplessness, as well. This is the 4th book in his series that I’ve read and awesome again!
I love this series. Whenever I read one of Thibauts books, I start to get motivated to get my work done, even if I'm in bed for the night! Definitely recommend and make sure you read the rest of the series as well.
Author has compressed all important facts revolving the procrastination and has presented in a very simple and doable tasks. A very important book not be missed by anyone.
Though others may have different comments about this book, all I know is that within the seven days of following this book it taught me all I wanted to know to reduce procrastinating by at least 70%. And I'm glad I picked it up when I should. Grab one and try yourself.
Good content. To the point with action steps to imbibe the learning. I have seen books ruminating the same content over and over again to increase the no. of pages. Good read
Excellent short Read. First book that made me do my work
Very short read and an excellent book. This is the first time I'm not reading 300+ page book about procrastinating so that I can procrastinate effectively by not doing my work and saying I'm reading
This short book is easy to follow and does a nice job of telling you the steps you could follow to decrease procrastination. You get a good understanding of what procrastination is and why we do it. Worth reading.
I like the style of the book & recommend it to all who keep on postponing their dreams. Procrastination is a bad habit we develop without having any clue to us.
A light but straight to the point read. It focuses on helping identify, the root of procrastination and steps we can come up with ourself to overcome and some suggested task and activities to get ourself out of the rut of procrastination.
