gift for storytelling paints a vivid picture for all who share it of a world where differences are not only accepted, but celebrated. Themes of courage, tenderness, and human connection are deeply and authentically explored in this .
Through description and dialogue, the characters come to life and invite listeners to join in the story of Big Panda and Tiny Dragon as they make decisions, meet challenges, and learn what friendship is really all about.
It was an emotional experience to listen to the audiobook and feel all of the feelings of listening to it. The work of defining empathy and growing it in us through his characters is moving and deep, and will live on past just his story.

کاش نویسنده ها بفهمن دیگه دوران کتاب جملات قصار گذشته! این کتاب برای چه کسانی مناسب است؟
برای خواهران پلنگ اینستاگرام و داداشی های برنامه کن کردان. به چه علت؟ از جملات کتاب در کپشن هاشون استفاده کنن.
مثلا طرف داره کوک اسنیف میکنه، میتونه بنویسه : اگه امتحان نکنی، هیچوقت نمیفهمی میتونی پرواز کنی یا نه!
یا طرف در عکسش مشغول کارهای استغفرالله طور است میتونه بنویسه: روزهایی هست که بلند شدن، خودش پیروزی است.

اینم شده مسخره بازی
یه عده تصویر گر هم انگار سوراخ دعا رو پیدا کردن، قشنگ کلاه میذارن سر جماعت. یعنی چی که تصویرگری هاتو جمع کنی و پای هرکدوم یه جمله حکیمانه بنویسی که کاملا بدیهی عه و بعد فکر کنی کتاب نوشتی؟
آخه حتی جمله های هر صفحه به صفحه بعد و قبل کوچکترین ارتباطی ام ندارن، انگار برداشته چندتا جمله رو از هرجا شنیده نوشته، قشنگ مشخصه فقط خواسته زیر نقاشی ها یه چیزی بنویسه.
مقایسه اش با کتاب" پسرک، موش کور روباه و اسب " یا "شازده کوچولو " یا "وینی پو" توهین به اونهاست بنظرم.
چرت محض بود خلاصه.

این کتاب رو در طاقچه خوندم.
اگر بیکارید و حوصله خوندن کتاب بزرگی رو ندارید، این کتاب برای گذروندن حدودا یک ساعت از یک عصر پاییزی انتخاب خوبی خواهد بود.
هرچند اسمش رو نمیشه کتاب گذاشت، چرا که کل متن، متشکل از جملاتی جدا جدا و تقریبا بی‌رب� نسبت به همدیگه بود، که خب شاید در نگاه اول ساده به نظر برسن ولی در باطن معانی بزرگتری پشتشون داشتن!
البته تمام جملاتش هم فاخر و خفن و عمیق نبودند، اما خب بدک نبودند.
برای استراحت بین دو کتاب، انتخاب خوبیه.

Hmmmm�. Don’t know where to begin. I had expected this to be a nice read, and a nice read it was! That’s it. Nothing earth-shattering. Nothing that made me go “Wow� or “Shucks� or any of the other exclamatory words you can think of. All through the book, I just went “That’s nice/sweet!� and moved on. ¯\_(�)_/¯
Written during the covid pandemic, the book is a collection of the illustrations that author James Norbury shared on his site (BigPandaandTinyDragon.com) during the lockdown as well as new ones drawn specifically for the book. This graphic novel is just a series of drawings with some text, which ranges from silly to reflective, even poignant. The overall effect is quite soothing. There are some beautiful ideas covered such as the importance of living in the moment, the importance of helping others while helping yourself too, and the value of being a listener.
I was reminded of "" by , as the approach is slightly similar � characters interacting with each other in a bond of love, friendship, support, acceptance, and encouragement. Mackesy’s book had four characters, which didn’t make it so monotonous. Here, we have only two � Big Panda and Tiny Dragon, and they appear on every page. So after a while, you feel the repetition.
That said, I read this entire book in one go. And I think that was a big mistake. (Blame it on my having only the Kindle edition. This one ought to be read on paper, not on screen.) The best approach for this book would be to treat it like the Book of Proverbs in the Bible. Pick it up, turn to a page at random, and let its wisdom seep into you.

امتیاز حدود ۲.۵، برای بعضی از نقاشیا
:))) کمیستری بین این دوتا (خرِ شرک و اژدهای فیونا) خیلی قشنگتر بود و بنظرم اگر دنبال درس زندگی هستین ترجیحا کارتون شرک رو ببینید و فاکینگ ۱۷۵ هزار تومن برای این کتاب پول ندید!

همیشه موقع نظر دادن به این بخش از کتاب " نامه به پدر از کافکا " فکر می کنم .
(چیزی که تمام وجود مرا مجذوب می کند دلیلی ندارد که حتی ذره ای هم در تو اثر کند و بر عکس، چیزی که در نظر تو معصیت است ممکن است در نظر من معصومیت باشد. چیزی که برای تو وخامتی به دنبال ندارد، ممکن است برای من حکم سنگ قبر را داشته باشد...!)
برای این کتاب هم همین طور فکر می کنم .
درباره ی کتاب
این کتاب مصور هست . ترکیبی از گفت و گوهای پاندا و اژدها و نقاشی های نویسنده .
در واقع ماجرای داستان درباره سفر پاندا و اژدها و تعامل بین‌شو� هست .
گفت و گوهایی که در کتاب خوندم ،متن های تلگرامی ، پست های اینستاگرامی و حتی جملاتی از مربی های انگیزشی رو برای من تداعی می کرد .
به همین خاطر نتونستم موقع خوندنش بگم عجب جمله تامل برانگیزی! چون بارها با جمله بندی های متفاوت خونده بودمش .
اما برای کسی که دنبال یه کتاب کم حجم و حال خوب کن هست ، میتونه لذت بخش باشه . مخصوصا برای کسایی که شازده کوچولو و یا حتی کتاب پسرک،موش کور، روباه و اسب رو خونده باشن .
و نکته ی دیگه برای عزیزانی که ممکن هست کتاب رو بخرن و بعد خوندنش بگن ۸۸ تومن رو دور انداختیم !

I discovered James Norbury's creation a while back on Instagram by complete coincidence (I'm not a huge fan of social media so I rarely use the app) but I fell in love with the cute illustrations right away.
The book tells of Giant Panda and his friend, Little Dragon. They are a bit like Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet if you will (just not by their character). They go on adventures together. Or they are just trying to get from A to B. The problem is that they often make mistakes and thus get lost. But don't we all? They sometimes need help or think of life in general and how to be happy, how to make it better. As we all should. Their musings are life-affirming and giving solace.
As with Milne's work, Norbury also banks on illustrations getting the point across and getting people interested (he even mentions it in his foreword). For me, it's the art that gives the musings that little extra boost. I mean, look at these two cuties:
And yes, I got a signed special edition as you can see. Couldn't resist. Especially since it helps a relatively unknown artist with great talent.
The book is divided into 5 chapters, by the way: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring again (the illustrations above show one for each season).
It might not be a classic (yet), but it is cute and very much worth your time.

از این حال خوب کناست که موقعی که دلم بگیره دوباره میام سراغش^^
یه چیزی خیلی اذیتم می‌کن� و اونم یه سری نظرات خیلی تخریب کننده برای اینجور کتاباست!
خواهر من و برادر من! این یه کتاب با جملات قشنگ و حال خوب کن به همراه نقاشی‌ها� کیوته.. نه یه داستان و نه یه کتاب خیلی جدی ونه یه 《شاهکار�...! پسسسس وقتی با علم به این موضوع میای سراغش، انتظار زیادی ازش نداشته باش و ریلکس کن:)
اگه هم فکر می‌کن� خوشت نمیاد از این سبک، کلا نیا سراغش خب!

James Norbury, pisac i likovni umjetnik je na vrlo jednostavan, lijep, interesantan, kreativan i slikovit način uspio prikazati vrlo složene, tužne, teške, u biti životne situacije koje uz njega sagledavamo s osmijehom na licu. Misli su to koje su njemu pomogle tijekom najtežeg razdoblja života gdje svakako pomažu ilustracije, koje su stvarno lijepo nježne, jednostavnih, ali jako dojmljivih crteža.
Knjiga je ovo koju ću rado poklanjati, prvo sebi (ovaj primjerak iz bibliobusa Gradske knjižnice Rijeka mi je „slučajno� uletio), a onda i dragim ljudima jer nije potrebno puno vremana za uživati u njoj. Otvoriti jednu stranicu dnevno, bit će sasvim dovoljno za uljepšati si dan, potaknuti se, sagledati situacije na drugačiji način, usporiti i uživati u životu.
Misli, kojih je ova knjiga puna, trebalo bi uokviriti i staviti na vidljiva mjesta po prostorijama u kojima redovito boravimo. Bio bi to divan, oku i duši, ugodan ukras.
„Nemam sad vremena gledati cvijeće�, reče Sićušni Zmaj.
„Upravo bi ga zato trebao pogledati�, odvrati Veliki Panda.
„Možda ga sutra više ne bude.�

This felt nearly identical to by that I read and adored last year. A lot of the passages felt almost word-for-word similar, and the overall sentiment felt exactly the same. I had to pause very early on and google whether Mackesy was using a pen name. However, the art wasn't as compelling and the emotional impact wasn't as strong.
I'm not saying there shouldn't be multiple books like both Big Panda and The Boy, but it did make Big Panda feel derivative, and there wasn't anything special or unique outside of a different choice of animals to set this one apart from its predecessor.
It's perfectly fine and still has a good message. I guess it's just down to the reader's preferred art style and/or animal companions.

تازه الان فهمیدم اییین همه جمله‌ها� قشنگ قشنگ اینستاگرام از کجا میاد!
تو سبک این کتاب انیمیشنیِ کوتاه، پسرک، روباه و موش کور خونده بودم ولی یه تفاوت بزرگ داشت یه جورایی قابل مقایسه نبودن، این کتاب برخلاف اون یکی نه داستان خاصی داشت و نه تهش به سرانجامی رسید، یهو یه کیلو متن قشنگ ریختن روی برگه کاغذ با یکم نقاشی همین و بس!
پ.ن: یه سری از جملاتش رو دوست داشتم حس خوبی میداد، ولی کتاب که تموم شد با فکر اینکه هیچ‌کدو� عملی نمیشه و فقط این کتاب جنبه دکوری داره همه حس خوبی که گرفتم پرپر شد و نتونستم لذت ببرم. (این همه خودویرانگری از کجا میاد؟!)
تو سبک این کتاب انیمیشنیِ کوتاه، پسرک، روباه و موش کور خونده بودم ولی یه تفاوت بزرگ داشت یه جورایی قابل مقایسه نبودن، این کتاب برخلاف اون یکی نه داستان خاصی داشت و نه تهش به سرانجامی رسید، یهو یه کیلو متن قشنگ ریختن روی برگه کاغذ با یکم نقاشی همین و بس!

I enjoyed it
a reminder of small beautiful things in life for adults
a simple story for kids, teaching about important stuff (I saw many ranting reviews, which completely discouraged me, but then I found a free ebook & I gave it a try & I liked it.)
a light break yet-reading between your reads
good simple advises that we all know, but might forget in the turmoil of every day life:
live in the moment- enjoy the small beautiful things- relax- don't give up- even the smallest steps are better than none- sometimes you need to have a break, so try again tomorrow
yeah, it definitely didn't compare to the Little Prince. this one is very much simpler, while the little prince had an actual plot & world building & reasons behind actions or dialogues, which usually regardless of age, majority of adults can enjoy it too. but this one is contained of a journey (the reasons or destinations, were not quite mentioned) with small inspiring quotes. same philosophy. a reminder.
"which is more important," asked Big Panda. "the journey or the Destination?"
"the company." said Tiny Dragon.
"I can't believe how far we've got to go," sighed Tiny Dragon.
Big Panda gazed out across the valley. "I can't believe how far we've come."
the tiny dragon reminded me of Mushu
& I love pandas

محال ممکنه کتابخون باشید و وسط کتاب‌های� که می‌خونی� به یه بولشت برخورد نکنید. از اون کتاب‌های� که با جون و دل یک ستاره رو براش کنار می‌گذاری�. من امسال و توی این چالشم از این کتابه� نداشتم و یه نیمچه غروری داشت می‌اوم� به سراغم که آره من خیلی فاخرخون هستم و کارم درسته اما این کتاب به پیشنهاد یکی از دوستام جلوم سبز شد. وقتی میگم پیشنهاد اینطوری نبود که بگه کتاب بدیه و بخون که بفهمی سم چیه و این حرفا. جدی جدی پیشنهاد داد که بخون و چیز خوبیه که خب چون کوتاه هم بود بدون تحقیق دیگه‌ا� خوندمش و خب با دوستان گودریدزی موافقم. آشغاله واقعا.
داستان یه پاندا و یه اژدها کوچولو(مارمولکه بیشتر) که راه می‌افت� میرن اینور و اونور و جملات کلیشه و بی‌س� و ته واسه هم بلغور می‌کن�. همین�. طرح داستانی که هیچی، حتی گاهی وقتا بین دو تا جمله هم تناسب و ارتباطی نیست. قشنگ یه سری متن رندوم که مثلا حس خوب بده انتخاب شدن و اومدن وسط نقاشی‌ه�.
برای اینکه عمق فاجعه رو بفهمید، اینو بگم که من این کتاب رو وسط یکی از کلاس‌ها� عمومیِ دانشگاه خوندم و حس می‌کن� اگه به پرت و پلاهای استاد گوش میداد� کمتر وقتم تلف می‌ش� :)
تنها نکته خوب کتاب اون نقاشی‌ه� هستن که بامزه�.

یک کتاب مصور که هر صفحه ش نقاشی از یک پاندا و دوستش اژدهاست. پر از حرفای قشنگ و حال خوب کن .
اگر این کتاب رو دوست دارید حتما کتاب پسرک، موش کور، روباه و اسب رو بخونید که دقیقا مثل همین کتابه و کلی حال خوب کنه .

Hartverwarmend boek dat je zeker een hart onder de riem kan geven. Het is een aanrader om te lezen wanneer je het even moeilijk hebt.

this book is so sweet and beautiful and nothing i say in this review will ever do it justice, honestly. so here are some of my favourite quotes from it instead:

Bellissime illustrazioni accompagnate da massime più o meno prolisse.
É diviso in capitoloni che portano il nome delle stagioni e, mentre ho trovato meno interessanti Primavera ed Estate, mi sono innamorata di Autunno e Inverno.
Lettura che consiglio più ai grandi che ai piccini.

من واقعا نفهمیدم اون هایی که گفته بودن با خواندن این کتاب زندگیشون دگرگون شده دقیقا از کدوم بخش کتاب حرف می زنن.
نظرم انقدر با نظرات دیگه فرق داره که احساس می کنم شاید من کلا یک کتاب دیگه رو خواندم.
البته نقاشی ها واقعا خوب بودند، انکار نمی کنم. اما متن...؟!
انگار بمب اتم زده بودن وسط یک کتابخانه و بعد تلاش کرده بودند تکه پاره های کتاب ها رو بهم بچسبونند. خیلی از جملات، همون حرف‌ها� انگیزشی هستند که بارها و بارها با بیان شاید کمی متفاوت شنیدیم و بقیه� هم جملات بی معنا و سطحی که نه پیوستگی خاصی با هم دارند و نه از نظم ویژه ای پیروی می کنند.
مثلا یکی از جملات اینه (وقتی چای می نوشی.... چای بنوش)
نه بابا؟ واقعا؟ جه جالب. من وقتی چای می نوشیدم آب پرتقال می نوشیدم. بعد از این جمله زندگیم دگرگون شد اصلا. :/
.
با شازده کوچولو مقایسه ش کرده بودند. با این که طرفدار اون کتاب نیستم ولی این مقایسه توهین به شازده کوچولوئه.

در مکانی عمومی باید یک‌ساعت� به انتظار می‌نشست� دنبال یک کتاب بودم که خیلی نیازمند تمرکز نباشه که قرعه به نام این کتاب افتاد�
در خصوص کتاب پاندای بزرگ و اژدهای کوچک اینطور میشه گفت که خوندنش در لحظه حس خوبی رو به مخاطب منتقل میکنه و به قول یکی از دوستان شبیه به مدیتیشنه؛ اما انتظار بیشتری ازش نمیشه داشت
صرفا یکسری جملات مثبت که هر از گاهی، خوبه کسی یادمون بندازه پشت هم ردیف شدن،بدون هیچ چهارچوب و سیر داستانی مشخصی�
