A sweet and deliciously kinky, second-chance, first love, sports romance by critically acclaimed romance author, Eve Dangerfield.

Derek Hardman is a man on top of the world. A professional football player, six-foot five and all muscle with the world at his fingerprints. That is until his high school sweetheart, Mara Kennedy comes to mind. The woman he left behind in order to turn his dream of turning pro into a reality and a regret he has lived with ever since.

After dealing with the devastation of Derek leaving, Mara reinvented herself and built the perfect life traveling Europe. A powerful and successful businesswoman in her own right, she has returned home with a designer wardrobe, an adorable puppy and a new last name.

She has nothing holding her to her past but painful memories of Derek and the love they once shared. For this reason, Mara has sworn off dating and refuses to risk her heart ever again.

But with Derek determined to make Mara his again, he returns to her a changed man. Donning a suit, a shaved head, sexy tattoos, and an illicit request straight out of her wildest Daddy fantasies, will Mara be able to say no? Or will she risk her new life for another chance at true love?

(Big thanks to Eve Dangerfield for providing me with an eARC of the book)

Return All is a story of Mara and Derek who were high school sweethearts before Derek moved to the big city to pursue his football dream which then caused the two of them to grow apart. However, when Mara and Derek are thrust back into each other's lives after years later, the fixation they had as teenagers resurfaces in full force.

Unfortunately, I DNF-ed this at 40% then skipped to the last chapter and the epilogue. Trust me, I tried. I was so excited when I received the ARC from the author because the premise sounds promising and the book was easy to read except there's nothing to latch onto as I go. I just realized that as much I'm open to reading a BDSM book, this daddy kink just cringes the hell out of me (or this book didn't give enough justice to tempt me).

Return All used heavy-handed storytelling which is one of my pet peeves because everything felt forced to fit the concept, I couldn't find myself caring for the characters. Mara is a millionaire philanthropist who was written respectably but one I had a hard time understanding given the zero-depth into her character. I hope to know how she reached where she is now but 40% in and I still have no idea what was going on except how horny one character is with another every! single! chapter! Imagine how tired I am. Not to say how she was uncharacteristically contradicting herself, consequently making the pull-push concept fall short. Instead of making the romance difficult and unpredictable, I get annoyed most of the time.

Dangerfield also mentioned Derek as the perfect male character she has ever written and someone that "every straight or bi woman would want to be with" which sure put my expectation up high. Sad to say, it didn't live up to the statement. I didn't read far enough to know why the two of them drifted apart as there were just lots of repetitive monologues saying that they do with no explanation even when I am almost halfway into the book.

Regardless, after reading a spoiler from one of the reviewers, I believe, I don't want myself a Derek Hardiman. His character arc throughout the story was poorly developed where he just made numerous questionable decisions. The whole romance was only a means to an end to get them back in the bedroom for the kind of kink Dangerfield is known for, as both he and Mara don't seem to have a theme that binds them together.

Still and all, you can say the most obvious reason I failed to finish the book is because of how draggy it is. It's just fucking all the way which I've mentioned before, I'm all for the excessive sex in a book or whatever, but not at the expense of others. Giving me smut on every chapter wouldn't make the book any better if you failed to deliver the plot. I am better than that.

I shouldn't judge a book by its cover but this time I know it would disappoint, I wasn't wrong. The book has the potential to be enjoyable but the whole execution failed to live up to its pledge.

Lemme tell you a story about this gal and her high school sweetheart that left her and came back 10 years later with a degree in gaslighting 🥰

Some minor spoilers included

First of all, I got this ARC from the author (thank you!!), and usually, I’m a bit hesitant about reading arc’s because 1. I’m picky and sarcastic, and 2. I'm a people pleaser. Not a great combo. Anyways, I was intrigued by the synopsis so I decided to give it a shot.

So, we have this young teenage couple, starring the popular manwhore jock Derek and the shy weirdo Mara, who surprises everyone by falling in love. The guy leaves for a football contract after a year, happy in his own world, thinking that she’ll wait for him like a good lil wifey while he’s out living his dream, sprinkling glitter over one girl after another. And I shit you not, this guy was absolutely shook when he realized she didn’t sit around waiting for him with a casserole on the table.

So 10 years later, this romantic couple meet again. The now not-wifey, Mara, says stop u already broke my heart, I'm not up for round two. Derek can’t understand why. And this is actually an ongoing trend in this book - literally every time he screws up, someone else has to spell it out for him.

One thing is pretty clear - I don’t like the shit-jock. At all. And I think I can say with confidence that he’s the reason for me not liking this book because holy lord I’m gonna give you a taste:

"You were slutting it up like what we had was a joke but I should have stayed pure for you."
"Yes, you fucking should have"!

magic mirror on the wall, who’s the biggest idiot of them all 🥰

Look I’m not gonna get into extreme details here, but this guy accidentally (bc he stupid) messes up her life, and his take on it is to give her shit for losing her virginity to another guy literally while he was screwing hundreds of others all along 🤡 who said romance is lost?

Mara on the other hand really pumped up her life while Derek was away. She became rich as hell, and between crying for the environment, buying houses for economically struggling families, and criticizing capitalism, she’s running around in her Gucci’s throwing expensive dinner parties, so her life isn’t exactly hell on earth (She’s nice I’m just tryin to be funny, I’d also be updating my wardrobe if I was obnoxiously rich). After some analyzing and self-critiquing, she realizes she never should’ve left, but instead DEMANDED Derek to take her virginity, so it’s actually on her too😤

There are, of course, some bare minimum and effortless big romantic gestures involved. But I honestly couldn’t enjoy them, because Derek is so unlikeable and unredeemable that a migraine would have a more suitable role than him in this book. Mara should’ve ended up with someone else, no doubt.

I want to finish off by saying that I think I would’ve enjoyed this a great deal without Derek. The author is new to me and I especially liked her writing style, and the smut had really hot parts. I’ll def be coming back for more of her works in the future.

First things first: I am THRILLED Eve Dangerfield is writing again, after having said she'd be taking a break. Her book Taunt is one of my all-time favourites, and there's no doubt she's a supremely talented writer with a very readable style.

Unfortunately, I simply could not stand this book's hero.

Derek and Mara were childhood sweethearts, before he went off to the big city and stopped replying to her messages. They never technically broke up, but he started having sex with other girls fairly soon (not said HOW soon though) and she too eventually gives up her virginity to someone else, after Derek ignores her one too many times.

Now, having read WAY too many books where the heroine remains celibate for an unworthy hero, I was cheering at this point. Unfortunately, Derek then re-enters the picture. Ten years down the line, he's a famous professional athlete and she's a millionaire philanthropist; both their lives are very different. But when he sees her walking down the street, he realises he wants to give them another chance.

Mara holds out tolerably well initially, keeping Derek at arm's length emotionally while using him sexually. Then they start growing closer again and I realised I LOATHED Derek. Yes, he was just an eighteen-year-old, but... he basically cheated on Mara. As soon as he got to the city and realised how many other girls there were, he FORGETS ALL ABOUT HER. Didn't even glance in the rearview mirror long enough to send a breakup text. This is not set in the 1980s, where phones are nonexistent and communication is basically restricted to smoke signals, or whatever they had back then. This is set in the 2010s when text communication is the norm. Mara tells Derek to forgive himself because he was just a kid but he was more than old enough not to do that.

They also only get back together by chance. In the first book in the series, you see him being a real player, and it's clear Mara barely occupied any space in his memory during the intervening years. Yet we're expected to believe that he falls in love with her all over again merely by seeing her. Pull the other one, mate.

His behaviour at the end is also abominable. It is called out by the other characters, but he just spends the whole book making one stupid mistake after the other until I don't see them together as a couple anymore. I wish Mara hadn't forgiven him - she's a wonderful heroine who deserves so much better, like Derek's friend who's starring in the next book.

I finally got a groveling hero who actually gets down on his knees for the heroine.

Anyway!

This was so good. It's 100% a daddy kink book so it's not for everyone, but I liked it. The hero is an idiot, but a lovable one. It's a second chance romance between high school sweethearts, but he left to become a famous soccer player and she's now a wealthy introvert. The whole book is basically Derek begging Mara to take him back, so obviously I loved it. It's got angst, steam, humor - everything I love in my romances!

“Did you know I’ll always want you? That I’ll always love you? That my life has been stupid without you?

Now this is the Eve Dangerfield I know and love. Return All is the second book in her ‘Rebirth series and I loved it so much more than the first. Mara and Derek were the best.

Mara and Derek appeared to be opposites in high school but they had a connection, not only physically but they got each other on a deeper level. When school was done, Derek became a professional athlete and Mara stayed in town. Things changed for them and they didn’t see each other for almost a decade.

Mara is not the same wallflower she was in high school. She still keeps to herself in some ways, but she is more wealthy, and more confident in some ways. She struggles to forgive Derek when he first enters her life, but that spark is still there and she can’t resist him.

Mara is the epitome of ‘the one that got away for Derek. He’s never known a love like her and he knows he never will. He’ll do anything to get her back. These types of second chance romances are my favorite. Give me a hero who knows what he lost and will do anything to get it back anytime please and thank you!

I’ve seen some people not love Derek, and I know he’s not going to be for everyone, but I loved him! Yeah, he might have had a moment or two when he said or did something stupid but no-one can deny just how much he loved and adored Mara and in the end, he more than made up for any of his stupidity. I loved this couple together!

Return All was a beautiful, emotional, and steamy second chance romance. If you’ve read Eve before you know she brings the spice and this was no exception.

Derek Hardiman had kissed her like no one had kissed her. Touched her in ways that made her shake. He’d held her and talked to her. He’d loved her in a way that ruined her for anyone else. And there he was. Her big, brutal ex-boyfriend.

Oh but I've missed me some Eve Dangerfield brand of kinky f*ckery.

*smutty swoon*

I live for a good second chance romance. But I absolutely hate when you find out that while the guy was out there ploughing through the entire female population, the woman has been pining away letting dust collect. And I'm so happy that Eve Dangerfield would say f*ck you to all that with Mara.

Derek Hardiman is grumpy personified. He's a famous rugby star who never lacks in female attention. He goes through women like there's an unlimited supply, but not because he doesn't want to settle down. It's because none of them call to him and make him want it. He was in love once, and that sweet and shy poor girl from the wrong side of the tracks stole his heart. He never got over his high school sweet heart. Even though he left her behind, it never felt settled. And when he runs into Mara again ten years later, he barely recognizes the girl he knew in the stunning and clearly successful and well off woman.

But when Derek is determined to get another chance, Mara is just as determined to escape him. Derek broke her heart ten years ago and she's not exactly eager for a repeat. This time, she'll be the one to leave. She'll do it on her terms and she'll do it with no regrets. But there's a reason that no other men have been able to do it for her through the years. Derek has a little something that no one has been able to give her. And daddy's back...
Tell me what to fucking do, Derek muttered, slapping her ass. “Never could keep your mouth shut. I can fix that. I’ll fuck you until you can’t say anything but My. Fucking. Name.

Man but I loved this book. I loved the new confident Mara. This is not the same shy introvert who couldn't believe the most popular boy in their school was interested in her. I loved how she made Derek work for it. And boy did he work for it.

Now I've said it before and I'll say it again; the daddy kink is not generally my cuppa. Unless of course, Eve writes it. And you better believe I loved it here. I loved their filthy sex almost as much as I loved their romantic connection. But where Derek knows what he wants; forever, Mara is not so easily convinced. Especially given their history.

I did struggle a bit to forgive Derek his stupidity not only ten years ago, but also the now. The man is simply daft at times. But he definitely redeems himself and that's all that matters. This was everything I've come to expect from Eve and more! Quirky, silly, kinky, and so much fun! If you love a filthy second chance romance, you don't want to miss this one.

I have been trying for a week now to write this review. Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. Health issues (not covid), migraines, hubby was building bed and broke his drill and smacked his head, unbelievable mess everywhere, our Christmas tree fell and decimated the living room and I must have smacked my new Helix piercing while tidying because it's swollen as hell.

Ye god's, what have I done and who do I sacrifice to appease them?!!

description

So enough wallowing in my misfortunes and let's get to the book. I can't express my joy in words when I see Eve Dangerfield books pop up in my feed! It's pure happiness to see her back in action. And anticipations levels are high as I have not had the best of good book streaks lately.

description

This is one of the most Australian books I've ever read. The lingo, the culture and attitudes were wholly Australian. It made for quite a change of pace and I enjoyed that and as always with Eve Dangerfield books the writing pulls you in and doesn't let go even if you might not be in love with the subject matter.

Case in point, I don't usually go for second chance romances. I can't put my finger on why that it is exactly but I tend to swerve around them. But this is an Eve Dangerfield book and I know even if I'm not head over heels with the trope that it will be worth the read.

Derek Hardiman and Mara Temple were high school sweethearts. They found each other terribly young and dived deep into their love and kink. He was her first and only Daddy and he has finally realised that Mara was his first and only "Little Miss" and he doesn't want any other. The problem is he can't find her. For ten years she has disappeared from his life and he doesn't know how to find her. But fate is on his side at last.

Mara left everything behind and reinvented herself. Now, she decided to come back home but didn't think that her past would come knocking. Seeing Derek again brings everything back. Her feelings, the longing, the rightness of calling him Daddy and the need to be with him. She wants to resist, her anger fuels her and drowns her while her desire for him overwhelms her.

description

Derek has spent most of the last decade becoming a professional footy player while Mara's past is wrapped in mystery. What is plain to both of them is that they can't resist each other. Can they find a way to work things out? Can they put the past behind them or confront it and all it's pain?

description

Their coming together was supremely hot as well as complicated and filled with obstacles. Most of them, in my opinion, Derek's fault entirely. For a 28year old he was quite immature. But I also think that some of his reactions were due to the nature of their kink. How does a Daddy deal when his "Little Miss" is grown up, independent and can provide everything for herself?

This was something different and out of my ordinary types of books and I enjoyed it immensely though I do wish Derek grovelled more. But if you've been following me for awhile, then you know I always want more grovel.

I’m so sorry, this book just wasn’t for me. DNF

What I read was well written and the plot seemed promising. It just wasn’t a plot that interests me very much and the writing style isn’t one that I overly enjoy.

This is definitely a me thing.

My Review

This was an enjoyable contemporary second chance romance that came with a slice of subtle daddy kink. Second chance romances aren’t usually my trope of choice mostly because I get so but-hurt over all the stupid and hurtful things that have gone on prior. I think I’m more bothered than the characters themselves are and I do get super annoyed. This story is the second in a series you don’t need to read the previous one to enjoy this though that couple does appear briefly here. I actually liked this one better than its predecessor but both are decent reads.

So this centres on Mara and Derek high school sweethearts with a mutual fetish. He was the popular footballer and she the quirky shy loner. Nobody was more surprised than Mara when they clicked and fell deeply for each other. When Derek's football career means he gets drafted to the Hammers everything changes. Derek is introduced to a whole new lifestyle that Mara just can’t compete with and when he does finally come to his senses a whole year later she’s gone skipped town and no matter how much he looks for her it’s like she’s vanished.

Now ten years later Mara has reinvented herself she’s now a wealthy woman and the CEO of her own non-profit housing firm. When her and Derek's paths cross again he’s delighted Mara not so much. Derek broke her heart as well as her trust and she’s determined to lock it up tight and ultimately protect it from further abuse.

So this was an enjoyable well written read its dual POV which was important just to experience Derek's regret at his thoughtless decisions and his self-recriminations over losing the only woman he has ever loved. Mara well her past and what she’s been up to all these years is kept sketchy and we learn it all along with Derek and it’s plain that as much as she claims to not want Derek in her life she can’t seem to resist him for very long. It’s also taken her a great deal of self-reflection to arrive at where she’s at now and she’s also terrified that all her hard work will crumble in the face of Derek the only man she’s ever loved.

There’s lots of soul searching on both sides but I must admit I’d have liked a lot more grovel from Derek. He doesn’t initially get the magnitude of how much he hurt Mara and his thought process in regards to her is far from logical. For example expecting her to be safely tucked away at home demure and pure and waiting for him whilst he hit up the whole of the city double standards much.
I gave him a pass mostly because of his initial age and not knowing what he had till it was gone. Plus they both came from pretty crappy backgrounds so their role models were scarce. This is the part though where second chance reads get me all but-hurt. He does get it eventually but it takes a while.

So though Derek and Mara’s relationship had a daddy kink vibe at its centre this wasn’t one that was majorly OTT. It came across as her wanting someone to care and take charge and Derek fulfilled that need. This is also probably part of the reason he unfairly felt she would stay in the box he had placed her in. There is also the daddy label which is only used privately between them. The sexual encounters I found hot both physically and verbally and there was some very intense role play included as well.

Taken as a whole this was a good read there was a good story included with the heat and the side characters involved were also fleshed out very nicely. I believe it’s one of these Willow that get their own HEA next. Willow is Derek's partying teammate and we are first introduced to him here. I voluntary reviewed a copy of Return All (Rebirth #2)

He knew the price was more than fair. A little fear for all of her love.
OH WOW! I'm seriously enjoying this series. I've said it before and I'll say it again: NO ONE does intelligent smut like Eve Dangerfield.

Plot in a nutshell: Popular jock and awkward girl fall in love in high school. He makes it big and ditches her . . . only to seriously regret it. Fate puts her back in his path ten years later; he's convinced they'll live happily ever after, she's not interested.

On the surface, Return All is about how Derek (the manwhore) mistreats Mara (the meek submissive) but still gets his HEA . . .

===> except holy shit, you guys, this book was SO MUCH MORE. The story takes the reader deep into a layered wonderland of gender roles, double standards, and kink. I LOVED every word.

First, let's talk about these deliciously flawed characters.

Derek, Derek, Derek. The man was so true to life; self-absorbed yet oh so vulnerable and looking for meaning in all the wrong places.
It would be easier if he could stick to one-night stands, but then there wasn't time to get into anything good. Everything he liked required trust.
I loved the way Mara did her best to hold him to the coals.
"I want you to know how serious I am. Me not sleeping with anyone is a big deal."
Mara couldn't help snorting. "To who, Derek?"
I wasn't the biggest fan of Mara in the beginning, but as the story unfolded and I got a better idea of how far she'd come since high school, I grew to love her.

Mara was able to hold her own against present-day Derek in all aspects except one: their sexual relationship.
She knew he was referencing the hours he'd spent as her daddy, and she didn't want him to go there. They were her memories too and she didn't want to transfer them onto this bigger, older Derek Hardiman.
The way the author wove their super-charged D/s daddy kink into 'real life' was just amazing. Because that kind of thing can't exist in a vacuum, and by addressing this question . . .
If I'm not Mara's daddy, who the fuck am I to her?
. . . the story shined.

Derek wanted to see their whole relationship through the D/s lens that he'd crafted as an eighteen year old. He wanted to be the 'big man' in all ways, all traditional ways, and Mara wasn't interested in assuaging his ego or dealing with his misogyny. She wasn't the same girl she was all those years ago.
"You got to be the star and she was your little supporting actress."
The main conflict of the story rang so very true for me and watching both characters come to terms with themselves and each other was magic.
After all they'd gone through and everything they'd missed over the past ten years, who could promise it would all be okay?
I'm now eagerly awaiting the next book in the series ===> Willow!

A huge thank you to the author for providing me with an arc of this book.

Derek and Mara's relationship had me captivated from the very first page. There was so much to learn about them and getting the little hints and clues on what separatedthem in the past and how their lives were while they were separatedwas fascinating. I really liked the intrigue that the story held and how it made me question a lot of things.

And I can't leave out just how hot Mara and Derek's connection was. I absolutely loved the intensity of their chemistry. It was combustibleand I was just dying to see when they finally exploded and gave in to what they both wanted.

Overall, this was an amazing book and I'm so happy I got to read it. I read it as a standalone without reading the previous book first and it was perfectly fine like that. There were other characters I got to meet but nothing that made me feel like I was missing part of the story.

When Eve messages you asking to be a part of her ARC readers in reading Return Again, the most logical response would be “HELL YEAH!

We met Derek in Begin Again, Again and if my memory serves me correctly, he had open to someone about the girl he fell in love with and lost. Mara proved herself to be such an intriguing character in my book, I still can’t get her out of my head.

“He had always loved her. She had always loved him. But that hadn’t stopped him from leaving and it hadn’t saved her heart.

Return again, was not just some daddy kink novel with some of the hottest sex scenes that had me panting for more and gasping for air. No, it also had me crying from the raw scenes of feeling the heartbreak, lost time, lost lives and grieving for who they would have been if they had stayed together after high school.

Derek had just turned 18, made it to pro and he wanted to experience life. He was young and there was nothing wrong with that. He had to make a difficult decision between following his dreams and being free or being with Mara and he would have just been a shell of a man always wondering what if.

I think Derek leaving was great for Mara, we watched this little BLOOM into this wonderful fragrant flower that grew to love and be so free in life. The surgeries she received from the money she gained boosted her confidence and it was nice to see her be confident once she met Derek again. She was beautiful before and she still is now. I loved her growth.

Watching them together as a couple now was great. They were on equal ground and there wasn’t a single thing that Derek could do for Mara that Mara couldn’t have done herself. That was pretty badass, with her being rich and all.

“You left! Mara bellowed. “You fucked off! You didn’t care anymore! We were done! But you have the nerve to stand there and tell me I wasn’t allowed to move on?
Ԩ!
“Well fuck you! I did, and I wish I’d stayed that way!

That scene pretty much made me ugly cry because it hits too close to home. How many times in our lives have we been faced with a job offer, school offer something that takes us to the next level, and we want to do it, but we have made a commitment to someone else. Yes, it is easy to take that job and move to the other side of the world but when we come back and try to repair the damages that were done, well it’s kind of a bitter pill to swallow. So yeah this was a *CHEF KISS* read!

Disclaimer of some sort, the author gave me a copy of this novel in exchange for my opinion.
This is my review and these are my own personal opinion.

(SIDE NOTE: I did heavy character analysis on Mara about her being in a relationship to a man that was basically a “GOD in high school and her being meek and she never realized how beautiful she was until they took a picture together later in senior year. She must have suffered from some serious insecurities)

*Thank you to the author an eARC of this book.*

What a delightful surprise of a book! I was so happy when the author reached out to me to try an ARC of this book. I was very intrigued by the blurb and I can honestly say that I have never read a romance quite like it.

The characters were so unique and the angst of the reappearing lost love was so beautiful and heartbreaking. Neither Derek or Mara is fully aware of how much they meant to each other as teenagers who were just trying to get by. They only had each other when they were young and then life got in the way.

Now it's ten years later and life has changed them both. And when they enter each other's lives again, it's not going to be the same easy fit it was back then. Fame and money may have changed a lot, but have they changed the soul deep connection that burned between them?

The chemistry between Derek and Mara comes rushing back and neither of them knows quite what to do. They might think that they do, but there can't be a full reunion until they air out their grievances. Which could be their breaking point.

I had a great time with this read. It is a bit angstier than I usually can handle and I will say the hero almost caused me to hate him. He seemed like he felt he was owed getting Mara back, and I know he was a kid when they were last together, but the kind of dynamic they were messing around with as a kid was no joke. I really wanted them to discuss their needs for this new relationship more. It is the kind of situation that needs very clear rules.

However, I also liked that this was lighter in a lot of ways than other books with this dynamic. Showing it in a more "normal" light and what it could look like for a real relationship.

Overall, it was a good story and a sweet romance.

GENRE: contemporary romance
TROPES & THEMES: second chance romance, steamy, daddy kink, close-knit friend group, first love
CLIFFHANGER: no
RATING: 3,5
HOTTIE RATING: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Derek and Mara. our main couple, are each other's first love and high school sweetheart. After their high school breakup, they still think about each other. They reconnect in an explosive fashion.

The cover certainly doesn't give away that this is a steamy book.

I loved the friend group and their dynamic. There is an amazing representation of the support system. Mara goes through a lot of personal growth. Usually, I'm a hard sell on second chance romance but here the author did an excellent job with realistic reasons they separated and how they reconnected.

I would recommend it to all fans of steamy second chance novels.

3 ‘Little Miss Stars!
ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I discovered Eve Dangerfield when everyone was raving about Act Your Age. She definitely caught my attention with that novel and her talent with contemporary steamy romance. So, you can imagine my excitement when Eve herself contacted me and asked if I wanted to review her upcoming release called Return All. I said yes instantly, and I got to enjoy a veeeeeeery steamy Daddy-kink romance!

So, as I said, Return All is Eve’s upcoming release and it’s the second installment in her Rebirth series. I can assure it can be read as a standalone because I haven’t read the first book and I still followed the story well. This is a second-chance love story between two high-school sweethearts who shared a very special connection but drifted apart because of unknown circumstances. Ten years later, they are having very different lives but as soon as they meet again it’s clear the chemistry is as strong as it was all those years ago. Derek is determined to win Mara back, but she will not make it easy for him, as their past is still very much affecting their possible future together.

This wasn’t a little girl. This was his little girl. He didn’t know he wanted one, but here she was. Someone to protect. Someone to love. And how lucky was that, to have gotten what you wanted before you even knew you wanted it?

Let’s just start by saying this couple has a CRAZY amount of chemistry. I mean, yeah, this book is all about Daddy/little girl kink and it’s developed at length. And I must confess, I am not a massive fan of that particular kink, but I do like to read it now and then. Eve sure knows how to go into detail about this theme and how to advance the love story with it. Nevertheless, I found it to be a bit too much sometimes since they have that in almost every aspect of their relationship, and I found the book was too focused on the kinky sex. Also, the characters' behavior (especially Derek’s) got on my nerves SO MANY TIMES. He is such a massive jerk when it comes to realizing what he did wrong and how to resolve it. Mara though blossoms with time and it’s great to see her new self. And finally, towards the very end, Derek redeems himself and grovels enough to win Mara back.

“Did you know I’ll always want you? That I’ll always love you? That my life has been fucking stupid without you?

Therefore, I am rating Return All with 3 STARS because while I definitely enjoyed the love story overall, I found some aspects about it that made me not enjoy it as much as I expected. I loved the chemistry between the couple, I loved the character development (especially Mara’s) and I loved the ending but still there were some things that I couldn’t get past. Still, I love Eve Dangerfield’s writing style and her quirky and filthy love stories so I will make sure to check more of her novels!

I read this easily as a stand-alone (having not read Begin Again Again) although I think I might go back and catch up with Beth and Byron. Because from the bits I read in this book I’m going to love Beth.

Anyway I digress this is Derek and Mara’s book. And I loved it.

In the interests of an honest review (definitely my thing) I have to say there were times I didn’t think this would work for me. Shouldn’t really have worked for me (I’ll get to this later). But the way it was written held me and kept me going. I was intrigued from the get go (totally the point I know).
What had happened between these two?
Where did the money come from?
What happened in Europe?
What had turned Mara from the shy girl in school to the confident business owner?

Okay so I had questions (which were all eventually answered). And I really desperately wanted these two together. I mean come on they’re perfect for each other. I liked the fact that they’re equal. Both rich and both successful. The background and depth of character was fabulous (as always with this author). I was up until 3am finishing this since I knew I wouldn’t sleep otherwise.

So what didn’t I like?
There was a lot of sex. And I do mean a lot. It was hot and so well written but
I do like balance and while the sex fit the story there was just too much for me. I started skimming towards the end (I know, I know sacrilege) mind you it didn’t help that it was the early hours. I was tired but couldn’t put the book down until I’d finished it.

While I loved the main two Derek and Mara for me the book was almost stolen by Chase. I absolutely loved him he was a brilliant character.

…and Chase strolled in. “Morning, vermin. Morning, Mara.

Chase turned to her in horror. “Tell the vermin to buy their own lunch.

“I assume he’s not actually compensating for a terrible sexual performance?

“Should I ask why you’re hiding in the plant, or is it better to ignore it?

Chase, in fact the whole team at HFA were fabulous. And that’s the thing. One of the many reasons I enjoy this authors books so much. All the characters are strong, they’re not just filler or throwaways they often stay with me the longest if that makes sense.

Big thanks to Eve Dangerfield for providing me with an ARC 👏👏👏

When Eve said she was excited about this book coming out because it might be her best yet I got excited right along with her. Because you know, authors can be very hard on themselves when they wright. So I didn't think she'd oversell it, but you never know. Boy, did she not oversell it.

Reading the premise I thought this was what a perfect second chance romance looked like. It got all the ingredients right there but, of course, Eve wouldn't be Eve if she didn't add her kinky little flair to it to spice things up.

Mara and Derek were high school sweethearts before he went to play football professionally and left her behind ten years ago. Now she's filthy rich and leads a non-profit while he's a football super-star. But neither of them are happy and chance (or rather Chase) brings them back together when Derek bids for a house her non-profit wants to buy for her housing initiative. Sparks fly and worlds collide in their inability to stay away from each other.

Mara was a weird character, y'all. She was all goody-goody and then she had a side to her that was like a one-eighty whiplash. She turned into a different creature when it came to sex and it was honestly fascinating.

Derek, I didn't love much but he was okay. At times. Maybe.

Did it all work for me? Honestly, no. That's why I didn't give it a five star rating.

I don't and will never understand the whole Daddy BS. I'm all for kink in books and otherwise but this one creeps me out. Like I was reading this book and everything went great, and there was a perfectly kinky scene and then BAM! That word came up and It was like a cold shower to my senses. I didn't get the reasoning behind Mara's need for it either, to be honest. Or Derek's. Yeah, he wanted to take care of her, sure. But why did it need to be THAT? Same goes for her. I just. Don't. Get. It.

At least there wasn't that much of it to destroy my enjoyment over the book as a whole. And I can honestly say that I enjoyed this one more than Dangerfield's previous ones.

Over and out.

I literally squealed in delight when Eve asked if I wanted this ARC. It was just a few months ago that I was forcing myself not to read her books. Why, you ask? Because she had taken a hiatus, and I was so worried she wasn’t ever coming back that I limited myself to one Eve book a year so that I wouldn’t run out. But this book is her second since her sabbatical, so I think it’s safe to say she’s back!

I received an ARC for this book and am now leaving an impartial, fair review

Derek Hardiman had kissed her like no one had kissed her. Touched her in ways that made her shake. He’d held her and talked to her. He’d loved her in a way that ruined her for anyone else. And there he was. Her big, brutal ex-boyfriend.

Full disclosure: I am kinda ambivalent towards daddy kink. It isn’t my kink, but done right, I can definitely play along. However, Act Your Age is one of my favorite daddy kink stories, and Degrees of Control is just one of my favorite stories, period. So I did not hesitate to dive right into this, and I didn’t regret it!

So, this is basically a second chance romance. Derek and Mara dated in high school, but after graduation, Derek made it big in the football world. And yes, he left Mara behind. He makes excuses for this, but in my mind, he didn’t have to. I get that we read romance for the fantasy, but the truth is, that is exactly what expecting a poor, young athlete to have his shit together at 18 is: pure fantasy. Derek got caught up in the glitz and glamour and also hard work of being a semi-famous athlete, and he didn’t make his teenage girlfriend a priority. Do I understand why Mara was mad about that? Absolutely. But did it make Derek an evil person? Not at all. In fact, I think that most likely, neither of them were ready to settle down. I think trying to make it work at 18 would have ripped them apart. I think in situations like this, it happens like it is supposed to, whether these couples find their way back to each other or not. The thing is, though Mara didn’t sit at home and twiddle her thumbs. In fact, she did everything Derek did- traveled, dated, and came into some (a lot of, in Mara’s case) money. This is one of the things I loved about the book: there was a separation and they both got theirs. Derek, of course, didn’t love that, but I sure did. Another thing I loved is that in their teenage years, Derek was the quintessential jock, but Mara was a bit of a weirdo. And not a manic pixie dream girl; Mara was actually odd-looking and pretty introverted. Of course, when she came into money, she fixed all those things about herself. Which absolutely, I would have done the same thing, one hundred percent. But I did kind of wish they still had their teenage dynamic still as adults, because I love when stereotypically “good-looking men are with women that most people would think are below them. I like it way more than the opposite, and I don’t know why. Maybe because I expect women to see beyond looks, but for men, it’s a pleasant surprise.

”Love at first sight?
“I think so. It wouldn’t have happened otherwise- me and him.
“Why not?
“Because I was the town weirdo, and Derek was he was the most popular guy at school.

Per usual with this author, the sex was super hot. If you’re like me and not super into daddy kink, that’s okay, because Derek is mostly just a dominant guy that likes to be called daddy, and also likes to take care of Mara. They role play, but again mostly just dom stuff. So if you’re not sure about the daddy stuff, I would still give this a shot. My only complaints are that I didn’t laugh as much as I usually do with her books. Also, Derek wasn’t quite as charming as Tyler or James, my favorite Eve heroes. Conversely, though, this book was a lot more polished. Less typos, more of a tied-up plot, that kind of thing- which made me happy. I can see the evolution in her writing, and it is impressive. If she can find a way to add a touch more of her trademark humor and charm, this author will be unstoppable.

Thank you for the ARC, Eve 🤩

* ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review *

I am a sucker for second chance romances and this is right up on my alley. Derek Hardiman and Mara Temple were high school sweethearts. Derek's career escalated when he became a football star. Mara is brokenhearted when they parted ways and their lives changed.

A decade later, they reunited and Derek wants to reignite their romance. Obviously they're still in love and there is an unresolved sexual tension between them.

Daddy kink
Steamy sex scenes
Angsty Romance

Honestly, I have no complains on those because it's HOT. You'll fan yourself! Also, I love how beauty enhancements are normalize in this book.Usually it wasn't socially accepted and they're perceived as "fake" and "unnatural" Mara had for breast enhancements etc. yet the hero still praised her beauty. The downside of this it becomes dragging and quite repetitive. Their role playing is great but there are instances I get tired of it. I skimmed the last 30% as I just want them to get together.

Oh boy. Eve Dangerfield is back in business and she's bringing Daddy with her. This book is absolutely fire from start to finish. I loved the first book in this series (Begin Again, Again) with its serious emotional undertones, delicately built romance, and the way the characters come to terms with and accepted their struggles, but Return All is the Eve we know and love. Filthy and tense with bursts of explosive passion.

We met Derek in Begin Again, Again (note: you do not need to read book one to understand anything about this book) and all we learned about him was that he was a heavily tattooed, intensely intimidating, and incredibly successful footy player with a reputation to maintain. I wasn't sure I was going to take to him as a main character at first, but damn...he fit the bill. He's been pining over his high school ex-girlfriend for the last decade and the day I stop wanting heroes to pine is the day I die.

Mara was such a mystery. She's rich, but how? She's not telling. Where has she been for the last decade? Here and there. How did she come to be running a housing non-profit? Who knows?! I loved it. The reader learns as Derek learns and not a moment sooner, which was a really captivating piece of the reading experience. I loved that she is a self-pleasuring kind of girl and has written off men (and not just in that I'm done with men forever way but then immediately falling for the hero, but in a I'm living without men just fine kind of way. Oh my god am I still making sense?)

The chemistry. Oh my gosh. The chemistry. And the creative sex. Wow. Shit just set my book on fire. Kinky stuff galore. Where's that champagne bottle going? What's that costume for? Who are we tying up? Gah! Daddy's back and he's not wasting time.

I read it some time ago and remember really loving it. I'm not a fan of second chance romances but this one was well done. Gosh, they were stupid kids before and damn, did Dangerfield made them believable.
I wanted a bit more from the kink though. It was still hot, don't get me wrong! I'll be definitely reading this one again.

⭐️3,5 Mara & Derek stars⭐️

ARC kindly provided by author in exchange for an honest review.

To be honest, I'm not into the Daddy/Little girl kink but if you're into this trope or whatever it is is definitely your girl.

is a second chance story featuring Mara Temple aka Mara Kennedy CEO of a non Profit Housing company and Football professional player Derek Hardiman , two high school sweethearts that life and ambitions got in the way of their happiness.
Years later, fate brought the two together and while Derek was determined to continue where they left off, Mara was so heartbroken to give him another chance.

There is no doubt that the chemistry and the kink in this book were of the charts H.O.T but in real honesty, I couldn’t feel any connection between the main characters out of the "bedroom"quarters. Mara was so cold and detached that she sent off the vibes of an unredeemable ice queen.
For Derek, I admit that I hated the way he left Mara and didn't even grant her a decent closure but we all know that he made up for everything he did.

An enjoyable hot AF read with so much chemistry to light a fire and a panty melting alphahero who would stop at NOTHING to win back the love of his life.

A great thank you to author for this ARC.

Secrets, steam, and a second chance with a first love

Rating: 3 stars
Steam: 3.5 flames
Genre: Second Chance / Daddy Romance

Derek and Mara were high school sweethearts, the superstar Jock, and the nerdy wallflower. But, then Derek graduated and took off to another city to make it big in football (which I assume was actual soccer since this took place in Australia), and being a young stupid boy…got sidetracked by the fame, fortune, and other women. He never even broke up with Mara. This immediately set me against Derek. What will happen when they accidentally run into each other 10 years later?

Derek, I enjoy a good possessive alphahole, but Derek came off more like an entitled manwhore. We don't really get to see the real Derek, what drove him, and why he is the way he is, until late in the story, and by then, I was a little frosty. But, as his thoughts and secrets were revealed, I began to warm up to him.

Mara was full of secrets, which made it difficult for me to comprehend where she was coming from and why she was acting the way she was. However, as her secrets were unveiled and I got the big picture, the story took on a completely different feel.

Return All had a lot of tension, conflict, and secrets, which I didn't anticipate from a Daddy book, and in my opinion, the struggle and secrets overwhelmed the romance; I was more interested in discovering the secrets than in the characters reconciling. With that said, the last quarter of the book transformed my thoughts about the characters and their connection, and by the conclusion of the book, I was happy with the result and the resolution.

Overall, it was a good book. Return All has an interesting plot and some steamy daddy scenes. If you enjoy second chance daddy romances, you should give this one a shot.

Tw: infidelidad y codependencia
