Then I randomly came across this book on my Kindle suggestions and BAM, right back into MM hockey. I really loved this. "Ugly" heroes are kinda my thing and this was a great addition to that trope's goodreads shelf. This series hasn't been followed up on which was pretty disappointing though.

Don't be shocked by the page length (700 pages) because this story needed every single one, in my opinion. Too many people are trying to shove believable RH's into 350 pages and it just doesn't work...unless you have a pre-established world in which RH's are common. If you're trying your hand at contemporary like Rath then you need to dedicate more on page time to the nuances, the scheduling, the communication, and what have you.
I loved that every single character had a filthy mouth. I loved that the heroine was very sex-positive and certainly no doe-eyed virgin. I love that they had to work through some issues that cropped up and tried their best to navigate the challenges of a Why Choose. I loved the hockey details (you can tell Rath actually watches hockey and understands the sport).
Some people complained that one of the guys deserved his own story, but I liked that it wasn't ALL sword-crossing. And that each character had their own unique relationship with the heroine and with each other that wasn't all about sex. It worked the way many polyamorous relationships do and I think we definitely need more of that representation on page!
Just an all around fun time. I'm excited to see where this series goes because age gap where the heroine is older and wiser and jaded is my new love....more
