Q: "Whatever we learn to do, we learn by actually doing it; men come to be builders, for instance, by building, and harp players by playing the harp. In the same way, by doing just acts we come to be just: By doing self-controlled acts, we come to be self-controlled; and by doing brave acts, we become brave." This book contains 100 moves you can make in the snow. (c) Q: Personality is overrated. Who we are is up to us every moment. (c)
This is a superb book which teaches us how to motivate ourselves from within. Steve Chandler breaks it down into one hundred simple steps. I listened to this book in its' entirety on youtube. It is read by the author. I highly recommend this book to all. Enjoy and Be Blessed. Diamond
I am in love with the ideas that I read over here . They make feel fresh , full of life and remind me that I am the only owner of my thoughts and feelings. It is all you need to read if you are surrounded by a lot of people who try to get you down all the time because no matter how hard those imbecile try to do so , they CANNOT if you only start applying the methods and ideas in the book.
It is so lovely, easy to read and fun . Besides, it tells you a huge number of stories about successful people and how they handle some sort of difficulties.
"If you are motivated enough to go to the store to buy a motivation book, aren't you motivated to do that? so don't need the book. put it back, tell the clerk: f#ck you, I'm motivated. I'm going home!"
I listened to the audiobook version - nice passive listen while your doing the daily routine as in brushing your teeth or getting changed - as it's not entirely ground breaking but still some good gold nuggets of info covered vaguely yet good recap of some motivational principles ...- however I found it abit mono tone the authors voice - as he went through each point ...
.. What made it even more funny and ironic was whn the author said he is "blessed with a voice" and gets compliments all the time - and he "used" to be mono tone?! - REALLY?! - sure as heck could have fooled me because I didn't get it at all here - serious anybody else here reading my review see that or is it just me? - leave me a comment !

The book was not well written. The author, Chandler, set up the book by addressing the 100 ways we can motivate ourselves, that was a plus, but this is what I did not like: He would write, "2. Stay Hungry - Here he talks about meeting Arnold Schwarzenegger and being amazed by Arnold's confidence and vision of where he saw himself in the future." This particular part should have been better off used in 3. Tell Yourself a True Lie."
This is one book I would not recommend others to read.
In the very short motivational book, author gives 10 important ideas to motivate ourself and improve our productivity and give the way to how to build a vision and achieve the goal.
I read this book for work and was actually surprised that I enjoyed it quite a bit. I tend to be skeptical of self-help books. A lot tend to fall under the category of: "Please pay me money so I can tell you a bunch of BS things that sound really nice but are actually meaningless." While I don't think this book is going to revolutionize my life, there were a few things I took away from it that I probably will incorporate into my day to day life. One thing that hit home for me is the idea that when you watch television you are sitting passively watching other people live instead of living yourself. I have never been a big TV or movie person - I don't have cable - but I still can find myself watching TV for hours after work as a way to relax. I keep thinking, even if I spend my time reading or doing nothing at all, it would be nice to turn off the tube and find relaxation in other activities. He talks about the "garbage in, garbage out" reality of filling your time with cynical, negative, sensational news and reality TV. When you focus on these things, you are focusing on horrible, negative things that make you feel horrible and negative about yourself and life. He also talks about not procrastinating, instead doing little things as they come to you instead of putting them off. That self-discipline is what makes life enjoyable. I am so disciplined about work, not procrastinating means my job is less painful. But I am terrible with procrastinating almost everything in my home life. It really hit home that if I am more disciplined at home and stop viewing things I don't want to do as difficult or onerous, I will actually walk away feeling accomplished and still have more free time to pursue my own life.
If you like this sort of thing, and even if you don't but are feeling like you need some inspiration or motivation in your life, I recommend this book. It is short, and Chandler's writing is easy to digest with relevant, interesting examples.
As someone who spent most of her childhood time trying to find motivation everywhere without internalizing the process, this book was truly helpful. I liked the idea that the author worked really hard to bring the most doable ideas and accompanied them with many stories and real cases. Moreover, he simplified the idea of self motivation so much to an extent that I felt like I've been doing it already. If something is bothering me, it would be the exaggeration in the headlines" despite the fact that it might be something out of the box and a tinge of the author and so ". Overall, this book is FULL of ideas" they're not merely hundred" and practical tips to lift you up " I grabbed many of them and inserted them into my daily routine and they worked! " .
One of the most important books in the group of famous books in the category of self-help or human development, which for a long time I refrained from reading, thinking that these best seller books had less value. Overall it has many aspects that the author worked on, many nice ideas that really give awesome results in lightening our lives and take us to new levels of optimism, especially when the reader has the receptors for the advises and be open to change.
I just wanted to share with you this great book I just read from Steve Chandler, 100 Ways to Motivate Yourself (Career Press). It is a fun and inspirational read full of practical ideas, and how to apply them in a simple way in your daily life. The book has 219 pages, I read the 3rd edition and it comes with an additional 10 ideas! What I loved about this book is that it is very honest; there is no 鈥渕agic鈥 or promises of 鈥渕iracle鈥 instant success. It is all real things that the author did himself and he teaches you to positively change the way you think and act. On the final chapters he concentrates in helping us understand that it鈥檚 not just reading and accumulating knowledge, we have to apply what we learn in our lives, and again there is no magic trick. The bottom line is we need to take action, in the author鈥檚 words 鈥淭he best way to motivate yourself is to act鈥 and 鈥溾€ction is what creates motivation. Not the other way around鈥.

Hello,
Today I just finished reading this amazing book, How to be like Women of Influence written by Pat and Ruth William with Michael Mink from HCI Books. Before we go any further to all our male readers please stay! Although the book is all about women鈥檚 don鈥檛 be put down by the title, because the main purpose is to learn how they made a difference, how they influenced their countries, the world and history.
The book is about how these extraordinaire women and how influenced the world and made great contributions to humanity. The authors had chosen 20 of the greatest women that lived on the 19th and 20th century. It was a great read, it鈥檚 not a biography, but you get to know a little about the life of these great women鈥檚 and how they succeed in their respective fields, how they stayed strong in face of adversity, overcame prejudices and pressed forward the boundaries of race, religion, politics, disability, culture and business to make their own contributions to the world.
Each chapter is dedicated to a woman such as: Eleanor Roosevelt, Mother Teresa, Anne Frank, Margaret Thatcher, Sandra Day O鈥機onnor, Oprah Winfrey, Golda Meir, Rosa Parks, Helen Keller, Marie Curie, Babe Didrikson Zaharias, Amelia Earhart, Florence Nightingale, Harriet Beecher, Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Clara Barton, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Mary Kay Ash.
What I liked the most about the book (besides the content),is the way it was written. Each chapter is full of stories, anecdotes, historical facts and curiosities with well chosen quotes.
On the end of each chapter there is a section How to be Like Oprah Winfrey (for example) and it comes with 7 to 16 bullet points of the characteristics and actions that these women鈥檚 had that made it possible for them to achieve their goals, with an additional text in each one of them. On top of that on the end of the book there is a section called Book Club Questions for Discussion, which I thought it was really good.
The great lesson is how can we become a person of influence? What the 20 women in this book had in common was:
Each one figured out what the prime motivation in their life would be and pursued it with passion.
鈥淏efore I was even into my teens鈥y goal was to be the greatest athlete that ever lived.鈥 Babe Didrikson Zaharias
Each one set specific goals related to their passion and worked toward these goals.
鈥淣othing in life happens. It isn鈥檛 enough to believe in something; you have to have stamina to meet obstacles and overcome them,to struggle.鈥 Golda Meir
They didn鈥檛 just dream; they made things happen.
鈥淚t is the individual who can and does make a difference even in this increasingly populous, complex world of ours. The individual can make things happen.鈥 Sandra Day O鈥機onnor
They made things happen because they were willing to work hard.
鈥淗appiness鈥hat鈥檚 something you can鈥檛 achieve by taking the easy way out. Earning happiness means doing good and working, not speculating and being lazy.Laziness may look inviting, but only work gives you true satisfaction.鈥 Anne Frank
Each woman had a strong core belief in what she was doing and never gave up on their dreams. They persevered in good and bad times with their focus on their mission.
鈥淚f you have a sense of purpose and a sense of direction, I believe people will follow you.鈥 Margaret Thatcher
They all had an 鈥淚 can do鈥 attitude. In their minds there were no limits to what they could achieve.
鈥淒on鈥檛 depend on forces outside yourself to get ahead.鈥 Oprah Winfrey
These women of influence simply kept focused on their passion, never letting 鈥渢hat鈥檚 impossible鈥 become part of their vocabulary.
鈥淭he first principle: never to let one鈥檚 self be beaten down by persons or by events.鈥 Marie Curie
In every single case these women were individuals. They defined who they were and refused to let anyone change that. They were true to themselves.
They all realized there was someone or something greater than themselves and they practiced their faith and also felt the need to give back to the world.
鈥淏e a living expression of God鈥檚 kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness in your warm greeting.鈥 Mother Teresa
They were courageous women, and each one ventured into unknown fields and were willing to take the risks necessary to achieve their dreams.
鈥淒ecide then whether or not the goal is worth the risks involved. If it is stop worrying. To worry is to add another hazard. It retards reactions, makes one unfit.鈥 Amelia Earhart
These influential women took responsibility for their own lives. They didn鈥檛 blame others or circumstances. They took what life gave them and made the best of it.
鈥淲hat basic objective I had, for many years, was to grasp every opportunity to live and experience life as deeply, as fully, and as widely as I possibly could. It seemed to me stupid to have a gift of life and not use it to the utmost of one鈥檚 ability.鈥 Eleanor Roosevelt
Education was very important to all of them. They were all lifelong learners, contributors to society and understood the value of education.
鈥淏ooks showed me there was possibilities in life, that there were actually people like me living in a world I could not only aspire to but attain. Reading gave me hope. For me it was the open door.鈥 Oprah Winfrey
I highly recommend this book it鈥檚 a great read and very inspiring. It make you think and give more value for thing we take for granted in life. It motivates you to aim for big goals and work hard to achieve them.

My favorite chapters are: 2- Stay hungry 7- Look for the lost Gold 8- Push all you own buttons 9- Build a track record 26- Run toward your fear 31- Find a place to come from 62- Bring on a good coach 77- Serve and grow rich 108- Do what you can today 110 鈥 Enjoy your resistance training It鈥檚 difficult to choose a favorite part, but these were the ones that I identified with most. Another good thing is that throughout the book he recommends lots of great books as well (which I put on my list for future reading). I would recommend you to read this book, and then after a while, start reading it again, one chapter a day giving you that extra dose of motivation to start your day well.
