A group of co-workers gave me this book when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. This book makes me feel inspire and gave me the support I need. When I feel down, I go back and read a few pages again.
These books are always uplifting and motivating to me, and this book delivered. The tale of Smokey the cat who was badly burned but survived brought tears to my eyes. I loved the story about giving our children roots and wings - we want them to have a strong family foundation, but we want them to have wings to fly away towards their dreams when they are old enough. That thought brings tears to my eyes. Another story talked about putting a loved pet to sleep and that made me cry too. Another story talked about how the number on a scale can affect our mood - so true! The last story talked about using special things in our lives - if we never use those things we deem special, we never get to enjoy them!
I originally bought this book in a second hand bookstore and chose it because the title of the book sounded familiar, and it麓s the second time that I have read this amazing book, and I am truly happy to have it in my recent months.
Everyone of the 99 stories had something to inspire me to keep going or simply to enjoy the short but powerfull stories.
I hope to lend it to people that also enjoy it, because when they tell me about a certain story I remember how it make me feel at the moment.

I read this book immediately after reading Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Cancer Book, and it lacked the same emotional punch I felt with that one. Nothing outwardly wrong with 'Unsinkable Soul', but nothing specifically memorable either. It was a nice collection of stories focused on the general theme of perseverance despite the odds, broken up into subsections which narrowed that focus further. I will admit to getting tired of the stories having all the same sub-theme towards the end of each section and feel the book would have been just as good if the stories weren't segregated in this way. Still an enjoyable read, perfect for reading a few stories at a time while working out or waiting in the car for someone/something.
This book was very well carried out. It focuses on many struggles of life. What I also liked about this book is that it uses many casual and ordinary stories. You can skip around and read the stories which you are most interested. This book helped me to regain emotional control over myself, and even though I wasn't going through tough times, this will definitely help in the future. Would recommend to college people in finals week lol.
Chicken Soup for the Unsinkable Soul is the kind of book that could give us courage to overcome all the obstacles in daily life, such as emotional or financial problems, fighting against illness, ups and downs in trying to achieve life goals, or when we're trying to become a better person.
When we or someone we know is facing a very exhausting "battle", we can give inspiration by reminding that we are the souls who could overcome the life obstacles.
This is the best book from the series! They have been a beautiful part of my childhood and have helped me grow in ways I had never imagined. So thankful to my Aunt for introducing these to me!
