"The confrontation between male power and female cunning is a recurrent theme throughout the collection and acts as an integrating component. Moreover, the story of King Shahriyar and the storyteller Shahrazad is a separate story conveying a meaning of its own. It is a statement about storytelling and its relation to death, sexuality, and power."
