Brogan lives in Ireland with her husband and their eleven furry children: five furry minions of darkness (aka the cats), four hellhounds (the dogs), and two traditional unicorns (fat, hairy Irish cobs).

In 2019 she embraced her craziness by writing about the imaginary people that live in her head. Her first love is her husband followed by her number-one favourite furry child Bob the cob, then reading. When not reading or writing, she can be found knee-deep in horse poo and fur while blissfully ignoring all adult responsibilities.

This was so delightful!

She is half unicorn shifter and half vampire. She gets caught up in some bad stuff trying to rescue some kids and makes a new friend.

Oh I absolutely adored the hero in this. There is nothing better than a kind man. And he is so sweet and so kind and they have just a delightful set of interactions.

She is a bad ass and is surrounded by really fun characters. This kind of felt like it wasn't the first book of the series. I am curious if there other books in the same world because it felt like there was the backstory that I might have known but I didn't.

Safety deets
- No OW. The male love interest has known that she has his mate for years and years. And has waited for her. There is some OM drama because she has been in love with someone for years and years. However, there is over very early in the book and she never was in a romantic relationship with the guy that she loved.
- No sexy times in this first book. They just kiss.
- There is a lot of violence and some torture in this book.

I love the humor, I love the found family, and I adored the hero! Really fun book.

Great

All of these books are technically stand-alone, but I think it's better if you read the Creatures of the Otherworld series first. Gives the background on the characters and the world.

This story takes place years after we left off with Cursed Vampire when we first met Tru. She's found her place in the world and she's finally found love. But it wasn't easy. There's a lot of betrayal and broken spirits before everything goes for the better. Highly recommend and look forward to the next book later this year.

I bought this book when reading the summary and it said unicorn vampire hybrid...what? Stopped reading and immediately bought it. I loved this book it reminds me of the Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson world and Kim Harrison The Hallows series. Vibrant and awesome. I should have read more in the summary tho...There was entire series that came before, Creatures of the Underworld. It wasn't a deal breaker but I could tell there were backstories alluded to in Rebel Unicorn. So I've launched myself into the Creatures of the underworld and I guess I'll reread Rebel Unicorn (shucks..lol). The second book will be out in August and I can't wait.

An angel, a demon, and a hybrid (?) Oh my!

Tru is a hired assassin, killing only those who are not innocent. The angel is her guardian. The demon, a demon prince that is, is her mate. Lies and false accusations abound. Can Tru prove the truth?

HOLY CROW! What an intense smelting pot of emotions was I made to feel reading this one. Yes the Whamminator has struck again, only this time she took it up a level. After reading Tru's standalone story and having that somewhat hopeful ending, I was excited to see Tru's adventure continue. I was prepared to have my feelings crushed after all Ms Thomas is renowned for doing so, but even I wasn't expecting just how far she'd go to take me to the brink of despair. But you know what I absolutely loved her for it, because it's this very reason and the genius of her writing that has me coming back for more every time. Sure I was cursing like a sailor through 90% of the book, and more than once I had the urge to launch my kindle across the room. However, the payoff was absolutely worth every second of the heartbreak I felt and I'm dying for the conclusion to this series to see how it all ends.

Tru Dennison is no stranger to the havoc and mayhem the monsters in her city can cause, after all that's why she became an undercover black-ops assassin. But when her current mission leaves her standing over a pile of dead bodies, the half unicorn, half vampire shifter is left stunned when her old guardian and unrequited crush accuses her of being a unhinged killer. Unable to convince the angel she is telling the truth, Tru finds herself dragged before the council to answer for her actions. And even after being cleared of any wrong doing, she finds that only her fierce determination and anger will help her find out who set her up and why.

Set nine years after the previous story we catch up to Tru on a stake out with Forrest, yes the ferocious little wolf shifter is back and she had me laughing so hard at her fan girl obsession with Tru. Once again I realised just how much I adored the unicorn/vampire shifter, and having seen her as the innocent 17 year old she was, to now a total bad ass assassin was utterly fantastic. Again her life doesn't run smoothly (because does it ever) finding her targets already dead Tru looking around for clues comes across a demon, setting him free he gifts her a promise to aid her in her time of need. In the aftermath of her mission the poo really hits the fan and she has to contend with a very angry angel, one who will not listen to anything she has to say and won't even take into consideration the past they shared. And here's where her life really starts to unravel. Oh god did my heart go out to her, I lost count how many times I was either choked up, had tears in my eyes or totally bawling at what was happening to her, but even at rock bottom, her strength, courage and snark shines through. And when she finds out that the demon she set free is in her corner, well let's just say she bounces back more determined than ever. Yep she's one hell of a girl.

Well after gushing about Xander in my previous review, I'm really at a loss for words to describe how I feel about him after reading this book. The gorgeous but arrogant angel who was so caring, so kind, so protective, really fanned the flames of my indignation and at times had me raging at him for what he does to Tru. Not only did he break Tru's heart, he shattered mine into itty bitty pieces irrevocably damaging it beyond repair. Sure there was a reason for him acting like the biggest douche on the planet (and I not only didnt see that coming, it's a dozzy) but it doesn't excuse his behaviour and has forever changed how I look at him, even earning himself a new nickname in my head which is totally unprintable here....🤣

Now if Xander has become the sandpaper scarring my heart, Kleric is the salve to soothe it. Yes he is a demon but if I've learnt anything, it's not to judge a book by it's cover. From the moment I met him i just knew there was something different about him and I was right. Being the perfect gentledemon, he is there for Tru in a way that Xander never was. Not only does he help her through the trials she faces, but he lets her 'be' her. He is protective without being condescending and he doesn't underestimate her strength in anyway because damn it, HE knows her worth and he takes the time to prove it to her again and again. Whoo boy did he make me fall for him big time.

There wasn't anything I didn't love about this book and I can't wait to read the conclusion to Tru's adventures. Exceptional read and I can't recommend this highly enough 😁

Loved it!
Brogan Thomas has a very interesting series of books. They have been to this point, related stand alones in the same world. Rebel Unicorn is actually a continuation of Cursed Vampire from her first "Cursed" stand alone series.

Tru Dennison is still being judged for her hybrid status (half vampire, half unicorn). She yearns for acceptance from the supernatural world. She has cushioned herself with true friends, but still wants more in her life.

The book kicks off as Tru is on a job. Kids have been kidnapped to be sold, and she will do anything to free them. But is it a job or a trap?

I'll let you find out. This book, like all of the author's work takes you on an emotional journey. You feel everything Tru does. Despair, loneliness, triumph. Brogan Thomas knows how to write an underdog and take you on a journey with them.

I love that about her books. This book is exciting, action packed, with just the right amount of romance to give you faith in humanity (or supernaturals). It's a journey and a wild ride. Your next must read!

I always end a review with this thought. Would this book make me read the sequel, or other things by this author? The answer is easy; its a resounding yes!

*You don't have to read any of the past books to understand this one, but it would give you some background and add enrichment to the tale.

Good

Grab your handkerchiefs, because you might want them in this book.

Tru was also the heroine in Thomas book Cursed Vampire, and it’s probably best to have read that one first, maybe even re-read it if you already have.

Heartbreak and betrayal are the emotions that Tru Dennison feels when Xander, her blood donor and crush, turns on her, sending her to supernatural prison for something she didn’t do.
Fortunately, there’s a demon hanging around that might just be the one person who can help her

There are some big shifts in this book, from its precursor, and the biggest one is just how much Tru has grown up, and matured from then. Tru has her eyes opened, and the act was not a kind one, but it leads to some good things.
She has to deal with a lot in this story, and some trials are as mental as they are physical.
In the end, Tru comes out stronger for it.

This was an engrossing addition to Tru’s story, and another thoroughly entertaining tale in Brogan Thomas urban fantasy world. The books are all interconnected, though they are also each standalone stories.
An engaging read for urban fantasy fans.

I am amazed at Brogan's ability to effortlessly pull me into another world as soon as I open one of her books. I loved her Creatures of the Otherworld series and she has outdone it with her first book in the Rebels of the Otherworld series, each book gets better and better. This book is a must read. Tru really comes into her own. I didn't want it to end, this was one of those books that you savor each and every word. The writing was excellent and took me through a gamut of emotion, angry, sad, and happy.

Rebel Unicorn

Oh, the plot twists! I loved it! I didn't see the part with the angel coming at all! And that ending! I'm glad it didn't end on a horrible cliff note like most series does. Great end, but I still want to know what happens next! I can not imagine the plot twists coming in book 2!

My only sad part was I wish there were more dexter scenes but got my orange cat monster fill at the end, thank goodness. I was hoping to see more about her unicorn family, but it makes sense why with what went down.

Overall 10/10 read. Cannot wait for book 2 to come out.

Another fantastic book by Brogan Thomas

Any book written by Brogan Thomas is an automatic purchase for me, and this book did not disappoint. Although this book can be read and enjoyed without reading her other books, I highly recommend reading her Otherworld series to add additional depth and background to the characters.

If you enjoy a story that is fast-paced, has a mystery to resolve, and has well written characters and relationships, then this book is for you.

very different than I expected, but really interesting

This was very different than I expected, but really interesting- quite a bit happens towards the end and I would have liked a little more insight into the true enemies and maybe a little bit of time to catch my breath to allow the relationships to develop a bit more.

Overall I really great setup book for a long series- I just wish the next book wasn’t so far away.

She's taking names and kicking a**

PNR? Not really more of a PNR whilst detecting but if you enjoy a female lead who's not TSTL (too stupid to live), angels, demons, pixiefairies and other hybrids you'll enjoy this. To really love it you're best starting with the cursed series where you initially meet the characters. You won't be disappointed with any of the books they're all 5🌟 reads.

You have to read this!!!!!!!!!!

Tru is a badass who has a tough job to do. Only her job goes sideways. From there things just get crazier. Soul bonds. Fast forward to soul mates. Oh the pain and heart break. Of course there is the asshole who Tru cares for. Then there is the chosen family who truly cares for her. I will say this book gave me some emotional whiplash but holy Christ in a good way. I absolutely love the curve balls trown throughout the book. Brogan Thomas knows how to shock you. I truly can not wait to see what comes next for Tru. Hopefully some more badass thrills with the new job she now has. Seems fitting for all the bullshit she was handed. Maybe going forward there will be more badass cases for her to fight. Tru is really good at her job to begin with. 10/10 recommend this. It is truly awesome.

Very entertaining.

I absolutely love this author. Her books are enjoyable and highly entertaining, as well as hilarious at times.
Brian Thomas's styling writing keeps you turning the pages. I read, and loved the four Cursed ... series (books 1-4), and it was great to continue with these feisty women's stories going forward.

I would highly recommend reading these books.

"“Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities, I say, quoting Voltaire. “Look, I don’t want to talk to you anymore, and to be frank, your time would be better spent looking for the real culprit of your missing angel. So unless you are willing to bring out the thumbscrews, I’d like to go back to my cell please." - Tru Dennison

Betrayed, imprisoned, left to go mad, Tru must find a way to escape... Even if it means selling her soul....

I can't find the words... This book was so much MORE than I expected. Full of action, angst, intrigue and desire, it will capture you from sentence one and keep you captive until the last word. Outstanding!

Whew. Brogan Thomas does it AGAIN, and somehow, this book was even more of a rollercoaster than her previous series!

It will be really, really hard to leave a review without spoilers (and boy, those are aplenty), but I'll leave it at saying that this book had me going through so many emotions, right from the start. I honestly did not think that anyone else could elicit such strong feelings of hate as dear ol' John does throughout the series... but I was sincerely wrong. I wanted to bash a certain someone's face right in... though Tru, being the spunky rockstar that she is, she has herself covered.

I love that Cursed Vampire wasn't the end of Tru's story, because she really comes into her own here. And the familiar faces from throughout the series... yeah, loved it all.

Yes, this is the start of a new series, and could be read as a standalone, you'd be depriving yourself of the incredible journey all these characters have gone through, and should really just pick it up from the start at Cursed Wolf. :)

As always, highly recommend!

My favorite vampire/unicorn hybrid is back all grown up. Now she is a assassin.
But life is getting out of hand when someone sets her up and have her thrown in the
most terrible place to serve your sentence.
But our heroine don't give up she will get out and have her revenge or die trying.
This book is such a fun read and also full of action and a little romance thrown in the mix.
A total must read so do your self a favor and read it and love it as much as i have done.
Looking forward to the next book by the incredible talented Brogan Thomas and her otherworld creatures.
