Back in high school, I watched the movies...you know when HBO and Showtime actually had a better line up of movies and anime. I've recently been going through a manga phase, checking out manga from my local library because why not? And I figured I would read Tokyo Babylon to see how different it was from the anime. I have to say that I really like this CLAMP manga because it's not as cutesy as the others and has a deeper, darker storyline regarding Japan and Japanese folklore which is awesome! I can't wait to keep reading this one!

This manga was really sweet, endearing, and also slightly frustrating in a good way. I like that the author provided moments in which tender moments between our group of characters, while also building up the suspense of what might happen. I also love the time-traveling concept. What would you do if you received a letter from your future self? What if you could potentially erase future regrets so you never have to carried that burden? This book is so much more than just teen romance and experience...it's an existential journey of what if's? and what would you do? scenarios. I love how the authors gives up an opportunity to think about our past and what could happen if we were given the choice to change certain experiences...certain moments of our lives?

Highly recommend this read. On to Collection # 2!!!!

I loved love loved loved this book. Maybe because I think about these scenarios in my head all of time while I'm stuck in traffic; or maybe it's because deep down the "what if's" always get to me. Whatever it was, this book was it. This book was relatable, emotional, and overall a really great read.

There is a lot to take away from this book. Like for example, what if you had an endless supply of husbands at your disposal? What if you wake up one day and decide you don't want to be married to this person anymore, and with a snap of your finger (and a climb to the attic)...Voila! you have a new husband. Granted the only catch is that you don't have the memories that come with the new husband.

So ask yourself this, is it worth cycling through multiple partners and think that maybe you'll find "the one" eventually? or is it better to just let life do its thing and see what happens? Do we all to a certain degree suffer from commitment issues, just some of us are better at dealing with it, than others? Whatever your cup of tea is (heheh), this book makes you smile, feel feelings, and makes you think. And I liked it!

Whatever it was, this book was it. This book was relatable, emotional, and overall a really great read.

This was a really good book! It had me guessing the whole time. While I can understand some of the complaints about certain missing pieces, overall this read was great. I will agree with some of the reviews that state that it's a slow build...and it is. However, I honestly think it was worth it. I had a couple of "ohhhhhh" or "what?!?!" moments...and that's uncommon for me with mystery/thriller books, so kuddos to the author for this one.

I really recommend this book!

This book really surprised me! I really enjoyed this read and found that I couldn't put it down! It kept me guessing 3/4 of the way [although I did have my suspicions...]. The way it was written and the narration from the protagonist really worked well for this story. I also love that the author makes references to the people gone missing in the wilderness and how underrepresented they are and how little data there is regarding their disappearances. I don't want to give too much away, but I highly recommend this book!!!

I'm honestly still second guessing whether the ending is reliable or not. Swanson does a great job as setting the stage, planting little doubts here and there, making you think the whole time. Honestly, the first half is solid...second half not so much. I had to skip through some eye-rolling parts that honestly could have been omitted. As other reviewers have mentioned, this really was a hallmark movie in book version. It probably would be better as a movie.

One of the things that I appreciate about this author, is that this book can hold itself as a stand alone novel. You don't really need to have read the first book to fully understand this one. Overall I this is a solid 4 (maybe 4.5) star rating for me. I do recommend this read for fans of mystery/thriller and multi-perspective narrative. It would be a 5 star if the author had ended the novel differently...more shocking. To be honest, I didn't really "see" the end coming until I was 3/4 into the book. But the end didn't deliver the "shock factor" like I had hoped it would. Although I don't completely hate the ending either...As I've mention in some of my other reviews, I'm harsh when it comes to thrillers/mysteries because I feel that authors of these genres are afraid of taking risks when it comes to their storylines/plots. This was a good read. It wasn't too predictable compared to other thrillers/mysteries I've read in the past. I did enjoy the different character perspectives as part of the narration for the story because it provided a very comprehensive look and feel for the plot and its direction.
