"the plot and cast of characters was interesting. unfortunately the writing and actual character personalities fell a little flat. because it was nonstop action from page 1, there was no time for slower moments to get to know the characters and get attached as a reader.

also maybe this is a self-report but the author describing the gender breakdown of all the new groups of people the characters met completely took me out. it happened so many times throughout the book. "four women, one man, and two non-binary people approached". just replace "approached" with "walk into a bar" and you have a set up for a bad joke. 😭 like how do the POV characters know the gender demographics of groups of strangers that they've never met before??"
