Anthony is 8% done with Mexican Gothic: This is the third work of Moreno-Garcia’s that I’m reading, and while I haven’t loved the other two, I do think she has skill and a lot of promise. After one chapter, I’m hopeful that in this case the strong, clear beginning will ultimately bear more fruit for me than her other work has.

(I read Mr. Burns)

"I will meet life gloriously."

Station Eleven WISHES (I haven't read Station Eleven). I love how nearly all visual aspects of the production are left up to interpretation. Sorry to The Thompsons, but a dusk to dark production of A Streetcar Named Marge does sound incredible. ]]>

"I wish I'd found horses."

Didn't quite come through for me like I'd hoped. The flashback artifice didn't feel necessary. That said, I love the satisfaction of a flashback coming back around... ]]>

"and I'd look out a window. And I'd be somebody else."

The rapid fire dialogue made it hard to keep the characters straight in my head, but this would obviously be remedied on stage. That said, I loved how much talking there was, and the excruciating awkwardness of most conversation. The vastness of the backyard sky is a fantastic backdrop. ]]>

"I see it all as rotten."

The introduction mentioned the originals set being a field in a room and I couldn't unsee it as I read, such a fantastic idea. Each layer works together seamlessly. I love it when a character tries to get out. ]]>
