"We are witnessing the tik-tok-ification of literature. Where instead of reading good quality books, we get repetitive, mind-numbing, "romantic" confession scenes that only aim to provide romantic/sexual gratification off the backs of past SUCCESSFUL YA novels **allegedly**

Every scene between Kai and Paedyn goes like this:

-they meet in a room
-exchange some "witty banter"

ex:
Kai: You miss me darlin'?
Paedyn: You are such a cocky bastard
Kai: That wasn't a no little psychic ;)

-then they get serious + talk about their trauma
-trauma transitions into unbearable sexual tension
-end with a kiss
AND SCENE.

You get this over and over and over and over and over and over and overandoverandoverandover....
Yeah, you get the gist.

There's nothing wrong with wanting a more romance-focused book or wanting more of these kissing scenes. But it's an insult to your audience when you're literally just copying and pasting the scenes into every chapter. Normally you find these kinds of things in fan fiction but fanfic writers ARE ARTISTS and can still make a story interesting even when it's literally one of a million different Dramoine or Zutara fics. If Fearless was a fanfic it would probably fall into a one-shot. A very BADLY written one-shot but still.

The people that read this book are just chasing instant gratification which, fine, you do you. But this book is very CLEARLY *allegedly* copying off other books like RED QUEEN, THE SELECTION, THE HUNGER GAMES, ETC.
So while you're getting your romance fix, Lauren Roberts is making a quick buck off the labor of other authors.

***Spoilers but not really if you have more than half a braincell*

Already my biggest issue with this book but it's other crimes include:
-Having siblings kiss (the Mortal Instruments was enough dubious incest for one generation)
-Anything that is blue is only described as "ocean blue" (there are other things that are blue)
-Anything that is red is only described as "blood red" (There are other things that are red)
-Mac is killed off (Character was killed off to make the book seem interesting and instead angered her entire fanbase that already has low standards)
-The kingdom thinks an annulment is worse than incest (enough said)
-Paedyn is an OP girl boss when she has to fight alone and infantilizes herself when she's with Kai so he will save her
-Kitt (also enough said)
