A great mystery in my own life that could be a plot for a book would be how I found out, a few years ago (through the seemingly benign and trendy process of DNA testing for ancestry purposes) that the man I believed was my father is actually not biologically related to me. Further investigation revealed that I am a donor child- I was born in the mid-1970s and I wasn't even aware that fertility clinics performed this type of procedure back then. This would certainly be a great plot for a mystery- I still have a lot of unanswered questions about my ancestry that I may not ever be able to resolve.
