Emily Thiede Just two! THIS CURSED LIGHT is the second and final book
Emily Thiede "Oh noooooooooo!" the toddler cried from the other room. "Now I HATE glitter."
Emily Thiede Years ago, an F3 tornado destroyed my house with my two cats inside it, both of whom returned safe and unharmed days later. The biggest mystery of my life is 1) HOW? and 2) what was their adventure like?
Emily Thiede Don't expect your work to live up to your expectations at first. If you read your writing and feel frustrated that it's not as good as it could be, that's actually good! It means you have good taste and can push yourself to keep striving and improving your craft. Nothing you write is wasted, any more than any run is wasted when training for a marathon. Evert step moves you closer.
Emily Thiede So many reasons. Being able to spend my days in a world of my own creation, the thrill of shaping an idea into something that feels real and engaging for readers, and I especially love crafting dialogue that makes me laugh every time I re-read it.
Emily Thiede It could be couldn't it? :-) It's got an explosive start and a hiss in the middle, perfect for expressing discontent.

In the book, it's an abbreviation of the main character's title, "La Finestra sul Divino" or "Window to the Divine" which she ABSOLUTELY mutters about under her breath on a regular basis, and she would wholeheartedly approve of your suggestion!
Emily Thiede By enjoying as much art as possible: Books, movies, television, comics, etc. When I'm absorbing the work of other creators, I'm refilling and rejuvenating my own creativity. Many times I've worried that I've run out of ideas, but it only took a few days of relaxing and enjoying other people's creations before my mind flared to life and I was inspired to write something new. We don't live in a vacuum, and we don't create in a vacuum. If you look to your fellow creatives, you'll never run out of inspiration.
Emily Thiede I step away from the computer to read a bunch of books, and watch a lot of movies and TV shows. When the creative well runs dry, you have to refill it, and you never know what might kick-start an idea.
I'm still in the very early stages of drafting the sequel to my upcoming debut, but a few nights ago I saw a tweet, of all things, that inspired me to write a very fun scene I think readers will really enjoy.
So that's my advice- allow yourself space to step away from generating ideas for a bit, and feed your brain with other people's creativity!
Emily Thiede Despite my enormous TBR pile, I just placed a big order at Bookshop.org and I'm very excited about Elle Cosimano's SEASON OF THE STORM, Kylie Schachte's debut YOU'RE NEXT (which I got a sneak peek of and it's fabulous!), and WHERE DREAMS DESCEND by Janella Angeles, which I just know I'll love because we have the same editor and she has great taste! *wink*
Emily Thiede Too many things! I've begun drafting the sequel to my 2022 debut, but I'm hopping around between that and two other projects, one of which is also a YA fantasy but very different from my debut, and another that is a Shakespearean re-imagining of sorts.
