It's tempting to say The Dark Tower, as it's probably my favorite world, but it also seems like a nightmare to live in.

The ideas for Crescent Earth technically was born when I was in 10th grade, circa 2009. It was small back then - just an image of a scientist working on something scientific deep beneath the surface of the Moon, in a secret lab. Nothing more than that.
Over the years, the story grew, and around 2018 I knew most of the key aspects the protagonist, the antagonist, their relationship, and so on.
As for its inspirations, there are many Moon (2009), Back to the Future, 12 Monkeys... these three might already be pretty spoilery, so I'll stop. Let me know if you see more in the book :)

Study the craft and keep writing. Don't be a dick when people come at you with legit criticism, but instead try to use it as a learning moment. They might not always be right (because they misread what you were going for or didn't have the full picture), but it still tells you something about how your readers read what you write.
And ignore the noise.

I try to switch to a different story, or to write something new completely to get creativity flowing.

The escape it provides. The freedom to create a world and hang out there for a while.

I got home early that day. But not early enough.
