Christine Rose Write for yourself, for your own pleasure and sense of accomplishment, not for what happens after the book's release. Manage your expectations with the realities of a flooded market and the difficult truths for any author,
Especially independent ones. It's virtually impossible to be seen enough to make a living from book sales unless you have a humongous platform. It's a numbers game, and with over 2000 books released every day, readers are overwhelmed. So write! Enjoy the process! Feel the pride of holding your creation in your hands. That's the success. Please don't make the mistake I did 15 years ago when I started down this path and base your sense of success on sales. It's a recipe for burnout.
Christine Rose Hogwarts! I'd dance in the Great Hall at the Yule Ball and fly on a broom (& Hippogriff) over the Scottish lochs. 😍 ...and of course cast many spells & delight in some Butterbeer.
Christine Rose A paranormal experience from the haunted Edinburgh vaults! Phantom footfalls and the sound of a squeaky door from a solid wall...also the place where tourists often see "Annie," a distressed woman crouching in the corner, whimpering along with a sudden smell of burning hair. Thankfully, I didn't see Annie!
Christine Rose I literally type anything on the page when I have writers block. I’ve sat there for a good 5-10 minutes just typing “I don’t know what say and “trust the process over and over again. By doing that, it tends to unblock my mind and the words begin to flow again.
Christine Rose The idea for my most recent book (the first one in a decade!) came because I lived it. Writing “One Reason to Live helped me process trauma and loss as I learned tool to help cope with C-PTSD and grief. Later, revising and polishing it over the years, reliving some of the worst days of my life, was strangely healing. Cathartic. Each time I revised it, I cried less.

Nearly 8 years since I started with scribblings and voice notes to myself!
