Rysa Walker Hi, Brit! There are three books in the CHRONOS Series, and three more books in the CHRONOS Origins series, which is either a sequel or prequel, depending on how you look at it. The first book in the Origins series, Now, Then, & Everywhen was published in the spring of 2020, the second came out in January of this year, and the final book should hit the shelves this November. There's also an assortment of CHRONOS novellas and short stories. Those are currently available only on Kindle (with a few also on Audible) but I'm hoping to put them together into a print anthology later this year. Hope this clears up any confusion and thanks for reading!!
Rysa Walker Sorry for the delay! These questions almost never show up in my email. :( And yes, the best way is to read them in order, although I know some people who have waited and read them (along with the various short stories) at the end. Hope you enjoy!
Rysa Walker That's a tough question, Hope, because I don't write linearly. I write a section, rewrite it, and then move on to the next. Sometimes, I'll rewrite both of those chapters before moving on to the next one. Usually, about halfway through, I revise the first part and then move on again. Since I was working and had two toddlers when I began Timebound, it was written over the course of about five years. I have no clue how many times the first chapters were rewritten and edited before I decided to self-publish as Time's Twisted Arrow. Then, after winning the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award and being republished as Timebound, it received a developmental edit, a copyedit, and a proofread. The publisher has done the same for all of my CHRONOS and Delphi books.

I still follow a similar method of writing in layers with the mysteries I currently self-publish as C. Rysa Walker, but not to the same extent since they're less complex. They get two rounds of self-edit, feedback from beta readers, and (usually) two proofreaders. I also let the computer read the manuscript to me...that catches a *lot* of errors.

Rysa Walker I was in tentative talks with someone about CHRONOS, but things seem to have broken down. Hopefully we'll get back on track--maybe the fact that there are three more CHRONOS books coming will jump start the process again. :)
Rysa Walker Thanks for the questions, Hadassah! The first is a tough one. I think it would probably have to be the sections of Time's Edge that are in 1930s Georgia. That flowed really quickly and there wasn't a lot of revision.

As for inspiration, I owe a lot to the book The Devil in the White City, and also to the students in my college courses when I taught history who came into the class thinking it was a boring subject. My quest to pull in interesting bits of history for my lectures meant tracking down additional information on some of the characters who play cameo roles in the books.

Rysa Walker Hi, Hadassah! Apologies for the delayed response. The answer to the first question is yes--three more CHRONOS books are coming, beginning in 2019. There will be different main characters, but we may see both Kiernan and Kate in the future. As for Kate and Kiernan, they don't see each other in the current timeline covered in the first three CHRONOS books, but things will get a bit chaotic in the new series, so you never know. :)
Rysa Walker Hi, Yukia -
We may see Other Kate briefly in the new CHRONOS stories which will debut in 2019. She's also a minor character in the Time Trial graphic novel.
Rysa Walker Hi, Kat - Sorry for the delayed response. I wish Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ would notify me when questions pop up! The answer is *yes* -- three new CHRONOS books are coming, beginning in 2019. :)
Rysa Walker Thanks, Jenifer! I'm still writing Bk2, which is set for publication next October. I hope to have a Delphi novella out prior to that, however--possible in early summer. I need to tell the full story of how Anna wound up abandoned in that food court, and that's hard to tell from a three-year-old's point of view. :)

Rysa Walker Thanks, Angela! I'm so glad that you enjoyed CHRONOS! And the answer to the question you didn't realize you had, is yes. My new series is also not vampires, shifters, or witches (which I read, as well), but somewhere in the nexus of science fiction and fantasy. I jokingly refer to it as "X-Files meets X-Men" as it has elements of both in the mix. The first book, The Delphi Effect, is set to debut October 20th.
Rysa Walker Not yet, Reba -- but it's coming soon! I want to add a few of the short stories to it, as well, and several of those have been published in anthologies. They have exclusive rights on those for three months, so as soon as this last story is free and clear, I'm going to bundle up the three novellas and the short stories with a brand new Simon novella.
Rysa Walker Hi, Lauren! Thanks for the question :)

I will (hopefully) have the first draft to my publisher in the next few weeks, so we won't have an *official* synopsis for a few months. I've been half-jokingly referring to it as X-Files meets X-Men, since there are some elements of both. But here's a *very* rough draft version of the synopsis...which I'm certain will change once it's in the hands of editors. :)

It's never wise to pick up strangers. That probably goes double for dead strangers.

Unfortunately, seventeen-year old Anna Morgan has no choice. Resting on a park bench, grabbing a pencil someone donated to her school, or touching a bench on the Metro are equally risky endeavors. She never knows where she'll pick up a ghost.

These mental hitchhikers are the reason Anna has been tossed from one foster home and mental institution to another since she was abandoned as a toddler near Ft. Meade. Most people think she has a personality disorder, with the exception of her best friend, fifteen year old Deo, and her therapist, Dr. Kelsey, who learned the truth about Anna's condition years ago. Anna's hope is to survive another year in Maryland's foster system and do whatever she can to help Deo make it through as well, so they can move out of the city. Some place quiet...with fewer dead people.

Then Anna's fingers brush the keys of an old piano at the shelter on U Street and she picks up Molly—two years dead, her face battered and a red gash where her left pinky should be.

Anna soon finds herself on the run with Aaron Quinn, a former friend of Molly's who works as private detective. Aaron has his own mental
quirk that Anna jokingly calls his "Spidey-sense." He's spent the past three years investigating Molly's death and also trying to solve the murder of his father, a former military intelligence officer who had flashes of precognition. Aaron believes there's a connection between his and Anna's abilities and a secret military program his dad was involved in prior to
his death. When the threats against Anna and her friends become more pronounced, they begin to suspect a link to Molly's murder, as well.
Rysa Walker E.B. Brown is a friend of mine. We "met" online back when we were both in the 2013 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards contest and have chatted online and even met up with her in person at a book event last year. I also read her Time Walkers series after the ABNA contest ended, and discovered that Beth is not only a nice and very funny lady, she also writes compelling time travel romance...with Vikings.

As I began writing Time's Mirror and Time's Divide, I knew that I wanted the character of Tate Poulsen to be a Viking historian. So I contacted Beth, told her what I knew about Tate, and asked if she'd be interested in writing his backstory in Kindle Worlds. I sent her rough drafts of Tate's scenes in both books and we corresponded back and forth to make sure that we were on the same page in regard to timelines, characters, etc.

It was a lot of fun, and I'm really happy with the way the Viking Saga stories turned out. We ended up with a great backstory for Tate that I'd never have had time to flesh out in the main series and these "almost canon" stories have been consistently strong sellers in Kindle Worlds. So, I'd say it's been a win-win for both of us. :)

Rysa Walker Argh! I wish that I got an email notifcation when questions like this are posted!! Apologies for the delay!

Anyway...the first of the "Simon stories" debuted last week. "Simon Says" Tips for the Intrepid Time Traveler" is a novella from Simon's point of view that gives us a glimpse of his early history and friendship with Kiernan. A second story, "Whack Job," will be published as part of an anthology "Alt. History 102" which should be out in a few months, and then I'll eventually publish it as a standalone short. The third (and, most likely, final) Simon story, "Cincinnati Blues," still hasn't been written. I hope to get it written in late spring, after I finish the first draft of Book 1 in my next series, The Delphi Project.
