“One UN committee report concluded the UK government’s austerity policies had resulted in ‘grave or systematic violationsâ€� of disabled people’s rights.7 The reality of this, the UK’s Equality and Human Rights Commission said, is that disabled people in general are treated like second-class citizens and people with learning disabilities are among those experiencing even greater barriers.8 This is despite the fact that we have laws to promote and protect human rights and equality for all.”
