COMING SOON: Cruciform Life App
I've been carrying around 3x5 note cards in my wallet for a while now . . . various cards that help me stay focused on the Cruciform Life (for example: see the My Section of Tables Tool ). But since I bought my first iPhone in 2009 I've dreamed of creating a Cruciform Life App , one that would combine all of the 3x5 card tools (that I use to practice the concepts in my book) into one simple app that keeps it all together.
I mentioned the idea to my friend John (who just happens to make apps as part of his job) a few weeks ago and he jumped on the idea. In his spare time he's put together some cool stuff. We've still got some work to do, and both of us are using it now so that we can tweak it along the way. But, I'm so excited about this new tool, I just had to share some screen shots and let you know it's coming soon!
Please pray for us about this project. I want this app to be used to help me, my family, my students, and my friends to live as Sons and Servants of God through Jesus by the power of the Spirit. And if it will help you, too, then thanks be to God.
We will release a first version of the app (only for iPhone and iPad) in the next month or so to let folks start using it. Then we can all work on improving it together as we go.
Here's a slide show of various screen shots from the app. You may have to wait for the pictures to load . . . patience . . .

On Whose Righteousness Do You Daily Rely?
"Only a fraction of the present body of professing Christians are solidly appropriating the justifying work of Christ in their lives. Many have so light an apprehension of God's holiness and of the extent and guilt of their sin that consciously they see little need for justification, although below the surface of their lives they are deeply guilt-ridden and insecure. Many others have a theoretical commitment to this doctrine, but in their day-to-day existence they rely on their sanctification for justification, drawing their assurance of acceptance with God from their sincerity, their past experience of conversion, their recent religious performance or the relative infrequency of their conscious, willful disobedience . . .
Few [Christians] know enough to start each day with a thoroughgoing stand upon Luther's platform: you are accepted, looking outward in faith and claiming the wholly [external] righteousness of Christ, as the only ground of acceptance, relaxing in that quality of trust which will produce increasing sanctification [or transformation] as faith is active in love and gratitude."
Richard Lovelace, Dynamics of Spiritual Life (Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity, 1979, pg. 101) as quoted by Jerry Bridges in The Transforming Power of the Gospel (Navpress, 2012, Kindle Location 2752).

Dust and Ashes
I am dust
I am ashes
I am full of life
I am full of passion
I am feeble
I am frail
I can't help but live behind this human veil
I am sin
Yet You show me
That You want to love me, want to know me
Just as I am, I am, I am . . . dust and ashes
I am only dust and I am ashes
I Am . . . dust
I Am . . . ashes
To fill me with His life and with His passion
He was feeble
He was frail
He was moved by love to wear this human veil
Became sin
Just to show me
That He would make me righteous for His glory
Just as I Am, I Am, I Am . . . in dust and ashes
A Treasure in this jar of dust and ashes

Please join us live on Sunday by clicking on this link to listen:
The interview will be recorded for MP3 download, so if you miss it, I'll post a link to it on the website and Facebook on Monday.
